I really love the idea behind it, but I've run into way more issues than it's worth. Ive made many purchases through it, a few successful, but mostly seriously flawed. I've received fully broken items (no returns allowed), I've noticed there are bots that will bid on items sometimes, and I've been randomly locked out of my account for days. When I finally reached out through email asking for help because the site was glitching when I attempted to pay for some items I had one recently, the customer service representative sent back a snarky message stating she would not entertain my request for assistance and would be deactivating my account (with open orders!) due to failure to pay for items. And that was the issue I was trying to get help on in the first place! I am really disappointed and I won't be using shopgoodwill again, because it's clear they don't value their patrons at all.
Never mind bad defective stuff that's what is supouse to be old used donated items.
Im ok with that, these people are really not experts or techs to check most of these stuff.
Specially electronics gadgets.
But what these people take the cake is in SHIPPING omg.
You sell an item you get paid for it, then just sit on this thing just looking at it for at least 5 days before initiating shipping, how hard can this be, print a label box the item unless your shipping departmen is in china,
Shows incompetence.
Goodwill Should be ashamed. BBB, attorney general someone needs to investigate this company. Everything they receive is free to them plus they get a tax write off. They have Ghost bidders and mystery shopper that go to the bins and pull items for auctions. The Ghost bidders drive up the price on their online auctions. IN Store its just as bad when they sell a New with tag item for more than the retail tag is for. Example A childs Garananimal T shirt $3.99 at Walmart $4.99 at Goodwill. Disgusting tore up shoes $24.99! What is wrong with you people!
This site make slick rules for the customers and no rules for themselves. The shipping and handling is ridiculous. Something they made up, because it really don't cost that much to ship small items. When you expect an item, they email you and tell you something happened to the item and that's suppose to be OK... NOT. If I hold my end of the deal, then it is imperative that you hold your end of the deal... NOT SHOPGOODWILL. Shop at your own risk.
I've visited this site many times. Trying not to see if each individual store was bad or it was the company itself. First the shipping and handling is ridiculous. The site had multiple ghost bidders to raise the price. Some of the items or promotional titles for the bids are misleading if not complete lies.
In the electronic section which I was most interested in purchasing... when the item was shipped. It took at a minimum of 7 days maybe longer just to ship. Despite the outrageous handling fee plus shipping fee. Approx 2 items out of the 30 items purchased actually worked. They sold items that were supposed to be together like a sound bar with subwoofer. They sold each separately in auction,. Contacted the seller is a joke. The response is always vague and nvr answered a question. The site sucks
Don't waste your money! I bought a sewing machine, paid like $50 for shipping and it was missing parts and after I paid for new parts it doesn't work at all! Scam artists! I won't be shopping at the local store anymore either! Total I paid $100 for junk!
I purchase a very nice blue Rooster plate for $27.00 and $10. Something shipping. It was packed so good. So it was broken before it left the goodwill facility. I have done ebay and worked at Goodwill and you can not tell me that this was broken in shipping. I maybe blond but I not that stupid, They refund my money and I'm sure there collect on the insurence.
You need to be very cautious of what you buy on shopgoodwill. I have had bad experiences with anything electronic, with moving parts, and that is breakable. They are not very descriptive enough; some of the stores don't package well enough; some don't mind selling junk and claim they have described it but can't check everything real close; and some charge excessive amounts for shipping (that is obviously where they want to make their money). I had one tell me they were sorry there was no refund on the binoculars I got that were junk but shopgoodwill was the best place for them to make the most on items... well dah! There are some that have good intentions and do a good job. We need a place to list the good ones and weed out the slackers.
I 'won' an auction a few days ago. The clock arrived with gears and pieces inside the housing. No mention of this or photos were provided in the item description. The description stated "... this item functioned for a brief test period...". Now that's intentional deception.
I wouldn't trust the site these days. What used to be a great site and organization has turned to one of deceit, conceit and profit, forgetting who makes their paychecks, us the customer.
I won't buy from them any longer.
They have set bid increments just like how eBay does but if you bid $50, youre paying $50. I checked the bid history before trying to cancel my orders and it showed one item going from $30 (other bid) to $50 (my bid) and i was charged $16 for shipping, for an item that weighs 5.4 ounces. When I complained they said that someone bid $1 below I did in the last 10 seconds. I put the bid in 30 minutes before end of auction and the bid that was $1 below mine was one hour after mine. So they put their bid in 30 minutes after it ended? How does this make sense? Then I checked all of the ones I had won and they were all the same. Out of 5 items how did someone bid exactly $1 below me when it wasn't in the bid history before? Most of the video games on there end up selling for higher than eBay retail prices. I don't understand why anyone uses them for those kinds of things.
Yes. Some of the hsippng charges are astronomical.
But I've purchased a laptop, ninja blender, sneakers, slip on flats, fitbits, tablets, jewelry lots. Many things that are very useful.
Be smart consumer. Check the shipping BEFORE you bid. I honestly factor in shipping with every bid. And then i google other sites to see what i should actually be paying to confirm that i am not over paying once shipping is factored in.
Goodwill online is a scam. Sell overpriced items. Will state the item is in good condition but actually is nothing but trash. Oh and they have a zero return policy. Will never order online again and will share with others that this is nothing but a way to sell items that should be trashed for over inflated prices!
Use to be a great site when you could bid and after you won the shipping and handling would be less then a third of the price so the bid battle was worth the fight. Now all items start around $5.99 if its a single item and doubles if it is more and back then you use to have a starting bid on a donated item around $. 99 then it was nice to bid and the shipping was under $6.00. Its sad when you are starting a bid on a donated item and it starts at $9.99 and the shipping and handling is already at $19.99. Its way better new so for the last 3 years i stop bidding on anything goodwill has wow talking about a bad deal
I have purchased from this site for a few years now. However there are some stores on this sites that over charge for there shipping-handling fees. When you question them they ignore you and then your account is disabled. However they are some stores on here that are honest about shipping fees and they will even reduce there handling fees when you purchase more than 1 item. The way they run this site is terrible because dishonest stores -cause lost of money for the stores who are honest with there fees. In the end good will loses good shoppers because of this nonsense. Bad way to run business, cause they lose business.
Goodwill is ran buy experience ebay sales staff. They have in house bidding to drive prices up. Their shipping is a JOKE. I mean what kind of charitable organization makes money off shipping. I have bought a few things off the site and every now and then I will go on there for something that is broken because I fix electronics. However, even if I do get a deal I still get ripped off with a handling fee and shipping. Then the 10 day wait. Pathetic. Also, goodwill is not a nonprofit organization. Here is some light reading. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-hrabe/the-worst-corporation-in-_b_*******.html
I have been finding alot of really old items I haven't seen since I was a kid. Buying a few of them. And I love to look at everything. If I need anything in the future, I'll look for it here fist. Thank you..
I won the bid on a Pressure Washer several years ago at ShopGoodwill. The pressure washer powered on but that was all that the Pressure Washer did - power on. I took it to a repair shop and was told that it would cost more to fix than to buy a smaller new one. I was upset so I had not shopped at ShopGoodwill for sometime. I decided to give ShopGoodwill another chance a little over a week ago and won a bid on a Portable DVD player for my grandchild. I received it today. It powered on, but when I inserted the disc and hit play, the screen showed "NO Disc." I paid over $20 with shipping & handling. I would suggest that you either buy from your local goodwill where you can return or shop on Amazon as I will do from this day forward. I decided to write this review after reading the statement by Mr. Giffin (one of the CEOs of Goodwill Industries) "What we put on shopgoodwill sells and usually sells at a higher value than if we put it in the store." SO TRUE...
I bid on an item and was the high bidder, once the people at goodwill realized the item was valuable they ended the auction and voided my bid. I emailed them to ask what happened and my when i went to log back in my account was disabled permanently. $#*! this site. Zero stars if possible.
I bid on a set of tea cups for $6.99... then they advised me that I had the "winning bid" and that I was "legally obligated" to finalize the purchase... that's when they told me that the shipping was going to cost $16... more than double the cost of the stupid tea cups... NEVER going to shop here again...
I gave up on several stores and keep a list of the bidders, and what items reappear down the road - plain to see the dishonesty. One, for example, charges shipping that's outright theft. Example: a toy model 3lbs box 15x13x9 they are charging $23.77 Plus Handling 2.99, and Tax. The model is under $40. New.
Answer: It did not get lost they did not get the price they wanted for the said item so it's lost they will wait for a while and realist it under a different item number and raise the shipping price and bid price with the auto bods so they can get a higher price for the item
Answer: Well look at the salary of their CEO vs. The salary of the Salvation Army's CEO. That will tell you what kind of "non-profit" it is.
Answer: If buyer got to leave their personal experiences with this company, they wouldn't exist in a year. They aren't going to risk that. Only honest sellers want their information posted for everyone to see. So don't expect it from Goodwill.
Answer: If you aren't using paypal or a credit card, there isn't much recourse. With paypal, the seller has to prove you received the item. If they can't, you will get your money back.
