I had just bought an rc crawler, and needed some bumpers custom made, because no others would fit my body. I cad designed one up and got the perfect measurements. I didn't have a 3d printer, so I placed an order through this business, which was very simple and easy to use! After I placed my order, It shipped 12 days earlier than expected time, and had incredible print quality. I would highly recommend this site for others looking to print high quality materials, and I would also use It again!
The product was not able to be used as delivered to me. The screw hole would not accept the designated screw and the hole for the nut similarly was undersized. The designated screw was too short for their product. After enlarging the holes and sourcing a longer screw the head of it ( which was smaller than the designated screw) would not fit in the recess of their product. Good idea but terrible design/quality control. Unless you're handy and really want this STAY AWAY!
Communication from Shapeways was poor, resulting in additional printing and additional costs. Their team put their profits as a priority over my company's satisfaction and project success.
Tip for consumers:
Thoroughly document and talk through your project with a rep, any mistakes or miscommunication will be put on your fault and cost.

They messed up my gold purchase etching it all nasty on the inside. Wouldn't recommend them for jewelry as their polish job was trash too.
Tip for consumers:
Only buy brass or silver because these guys can't effectively make gold jewelry (I've bought two different models and the first from yrs ago looks better due to the job they did)

I try to refrain from writing negative reviews but the customer service was terrible. I realized I made a mistake in my order and submitted a cancellation request immediately after placing the order. They ignored it and began printing 24 hours later. When I contacted them to ask why it printed, they said that they saw the order first. Since it was already in the printing process, I asked if they could change the shipping terms to basic, that was the original mistake I made. They said they could but would not refund me the difference. I asked for a supervisor or a manager and was contacted by Lefteri, a senior customer service representative. Everyone in this process was beyond useless. I don't know why they have a customer service team at all. Decent printing though
When ordering and item is canceled in the order
It will be adjusted once shipped
Just have to watch they dont charge you again in a second charge for the item cancelled
No good to talk with them they say you just dont understand
Have screen shots sent them but yeah its me thats stupid and do not understand the process
Going back and forth w them is a waste of time
Husband loves the prints
Credit union is alwasy aware of how placed holds on funds
So
Just watch your account
But the products are great but shapeway is the middle printing man
If you wish to print in well established materials then Shapeways website is fast and efficient. Want to print in one of their newer materials? Good luck!
You first have to register' for the material you want. You can't place an order in the normal way (they don't tell you this), instead you must engage in correspondence with an administrator who, seemingly, is unaware you can't place an order through their website. I've failed so far to get an order placed and i'm ready to give up!
When I ordered six rings to be customized for my hyper mobile fingers, I went over my numbers multiple times before I send them to the maker. I got them in the mail only two of them actually fit. They said they could refund one of them because it was broken but I said to wait because they were supposed to be remade. They were never we made. I even took a new measurements of my fingers and resend them. Understand that shape ways itself is supposed to be a hub for 3-D printers to get work through, but you also think that they would know if their printers were reputable or not. Not fun to waste money.
Ordered a custom pendant as an anniversary present. Unhappy with the result.
It came much larger than designed and rough with pointed edges (when it was specified to have a round polished finish).
No refund policy. No replying to emails.
No customer service.
I will say the shape and strength appears well crafted and understand some of the difficulties posed by 3D printing, but no communication with their customers is their let down.
My D&D miniature orc 3D print came out in VERY poor quality compared to its MASSIVE price! $7.15 originally, came out to about $16 dollars for a very SMALL & low-quality print!
Not only is Shapeways such an astonishly low-quality for its price, but it is misleading when it comes to its MASSIVE added shipping prices. They will hold onto your item in order to make you pay more to get it quicker. And the day they say it will ship IS NOT the arrival date, but instead, it is the day they sent it out! Is there a delay when paying extra for faster shipping? Too bad!
Tip for consumers:
Don't use the "White Natural Versatile Plastic" if you want details. They will come out in very poor quality.

It is good for cheap low quality prototyping, but it takes what feels like forever to get your pieces and they always say they are back ordered. Also, poor customer support.
