Ok I just want to say I have been ordering from Rock Auto for years now. Have only really had a few issues, but this one really pisses me off. I'm restoring a 66 Charger and ordered upper ball joints. They arrived quickly. So I take out the first one looks good all hardware with it installed all good. Just want to say box P/N GK772 P/N on bag inside ZK772 no problem. Go to install the other side same marking but missing washer for castle nut and grease boot. Ok contact Rockauto get email next day part shipped. Get a whole new part 2 days later GREAT! Figure just use the boot and washer since I install the first ball joint boot is loose. Ok check new part no shoulder for the boot boot really loose. Contact Rockauto and by their question they determine no ones fault so lets split the difference and you pay to return. Are you kidding? I'll just go and pay for new one at Advance Auto will wind up only a few bucks more and I can inspect it at the counter. Think that they would ship the same part as the first if they are replacing it. Hell even the first two had differences.

FRAUDULENT SHIP TIME
October 29, 2020

Rockauto fine print provides that time to ship is "estimated" to be up to "24 business hours." That means THREE BUSINESS DAYS!
Since Rockauto knows they will NOT satisfy their delivery "estimate," it is not an estimate at all, but FRAUDULENT MISREPRESENTATION.
Rockauto further compounds their FRAUDULENT MISREPRESENTATION by "printing" the shipping label to create a FRAUDULENT tracking record, when they specifically intend to ACTUALLY SHIP THREE BUSINESS DAYS LATER!
Sadly, they seem to hire high school graduates with 3rd grade literacy, who can only follow scripted prompts on a computer screen, and always blame the customer for the problem -- "It's you fault for believing what our website says, because our fine print terms of service expressly earns you that our website information is presumptively false, unless you happen to get lucky."

They sold me the wrong shocks for my vehicle and would only refund part of my money. Use 1A Auto instead (1aauto.com), they will stand behind what they sell.

Rockauto is the absolute cheapest place to get parts. Even as an auto repair shop, they rival or beat Dealers, part networks, etc. Unfortunately, their customer service is pathetic, at best is near useless, and at worst is actually antagonistic towards the customer, not addressing an issue but merely tossing links to their return page at you and closing your ticket. For instance we ordered a catalytic Converter. After install, issue was still present, recheck all oxygen sensors, oxygen sensors all check good, vehicle is reading correctly, but still display CEL. Instead of getting a refund, which I should've done then and there, I opted to have it replaced. They make you reorder the part, and then ask you to go for a refund on the new part. Shock and surprise, the new part does not resolve issue either. So now, at best I might get a refund for the newest converter but am out on the 2nd one. We had another shipping issue previously. For the average consumer who orders a part once or twice a year this MAY not be an issue. But for anyone else RockAuto could very easily screw you over.

Terrible service
June 22, 2020

Just purchased and installed a Powerstop brake kit. After 2 weeks the front rotors are pulsating on highway. Rock auto won't warranty them and say it my fault. What a joke. Never use them again

Rebate scam
September 2, 2018

I was promised a $100 gift card for buying 4 struts from rockauto.com, but its just a scam. I sent in everything they asked for and about 2 months later I get an email saying my rebate was rejected because of some items that were supposedly missing, but it was untrue. I called and they were closed but the answering service assured me they would have someone call me back. I also emailed explaining that everything they asked for was included. I never got a reply to my email and no one ever called me back. Finally I was able to get through to them by phone during regular business hours. The person I spoke to asked for my rebate id number which I gave him and told him that I was told the rebates was rejected. He placed me on hold for a minute or two. When he came back to the phone he said everything has been taken care of and that I was approved. Thats pretty fishy, I bet they reject 100% of all rebates initially. Now he proceeds to tell me that it will take 2 more months to process and I should get my rebate card in the. What the heck? It does not take 2 months to send out a rebate card. So I wait another two months and then check the status of the rebate online and guess what, it says rejected again. This is a total scam. Do not trust anything you hear from Rock Auto about a rebate, you will NEVER get your rebate.

Ordered a part ad paid the extra to have delivered two days and on day 7 still have not received. Tehse guys are a joke for using Fed Ex. USE 1A AUTO INSTEAD THEY USE UPS, a real logistics company.
ROCK AUTO has lost me for life, good riddance

Do not trust ROCKAUTO and their chosen delivery process. Paid for expedited delivery in 2 days. Guaranteed to be delivered April 28,2021 by 8pm est. Car that should have been done on April 29 still not repaired as of May 6th, due to ROCKAUTOS FAILURE. Parts are still not here and RockAuto wont recall package and refund money. They say its my responsibility to receive the late package and return it to them at MY COST! RockAuto customer service is a JOKE and almost impossible to get them to think logically! I have all of the emails in PDF saved so I can post the failure of service to every rating site I can locate online!

I ORDERED EXHAUST PARTS BY RELIABLE COMPANY BRAND AND BY ACTUAL PART # ASSIGNED BY THAT BRAND. I DID THIS IN ORDER TO MAYBE ASSURE A BETTER QUALITY PARTS AND WAS WILLING TO PAY THE EXTRA TO GET A RELIABLE PARTS BRAND WHICH IS WHY I ORDERED BY BRAND AND PART #.

I RECEIVED GENERIC PARTS (A FEW OF WHICH DID NOT EVEN HAVE ANY BRAND OR OR MANUFACTURE'S NAME, ALL IMPORTED FROM OVERSEAS-- NOT WHAT I ORDERED!--. I GUESS ROCK AUTO DID THAT TO INCREASE THEIR PROFIT MARGIN.

I EXCHANGED MULTIPLE EMAILS BACK AND FORTH. GOT WHAT I FELT WERE CANNED COMPUTER DRIVEN REPLIES WHICH DID NOT ADDRESS WHY THEY SHIPPED SOMETHING I DIDN'T ORDER.

OH YA, THEY WILL OK A RETURN AND CREDIT -IF I PAY TO SHIP THE PARTS BACK TO THEM IN ORDER TO CORRECT THEIR PROBLEM THEREBY FURTHER INCREASING THEIR PROFIT FOR A SHABBY (IMO) CUSTOMER SERVICE.

RUN, DON'T WALK, TO OTHER WAY. THIS IS WHY THEIR PRICES MAY BE A LITTLE LOWER THAN OTHER PARTS HOUSES (IMO).

UNETHICAL COMPANY

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ROCKAUTO--UNETHICAL. Rock Bottom should be their name. They sent a brake pad and rotor kit where only the front is compatible. Because its over 30 days they won't even exchange. UNETHICAL. All I want is the parts that fit my car that I PAID FOR. I could give a rip if its been more than 30 days. Why should I be responsible for RockBottoms mistake? Will see if I can get my credit card company to dispute the charge since they didn't provide the correct parts.

Not worth it

Part was built cheap and shipping box was not packed good at all. Not going to buy anything again. You can get like quality in your local area look around and dont have to pay return shipping.

I ordered a part with expedited shipping. 2 days later I received my order and though the box appeared to be in good shape, the part itself was in pieces. I'm pretty certain they shipped me an old broken part actually, not even a new one. I immediately packaged it back up and took it to UPS to return. When I got home I contacted them (which was a struggle in itself) letting them know, with pictures, the poor excuse for a part that I received. I wanted them to refund the money I spent on expedited shipping which was only about $17 but I figured since I was going to now have to wait over a week, paying for 2 day shipping didn't make much sense at this point. Without hesitation that assured me that they weren't going to refund me. When I went to reply asking how that made sense, I was notified that my email didn't go through because they closed my ticket and marked it at "complete". When I tried opening an additional ticket, I got no response, they simply kept my money refused to communicate with me. I eventually got a new, non broken part, but never a refund for the shipping which seems pretty scammy to me.

I definitely won't be using them again and would caution anyone considering it to look elsewhere if your priority is getting what you pay for and bare minimal customer service.

Ordered simple antenna to replace broken antenna on my vehicle. Entered correct, year, make, model etc for my vehicle. The part came, it looked similar, but the stud (threads) to attach it to the vehicle are 1" - 1.5" too short. I informed Rock Auto of this, and they offered to send a replacement for free (So far so good). The replacement came, but it was identical to the first part; i. E. way too short and would not fit. The part itself was only $4, but the shipping was $7; ($11 total). Still, cheaper than other sites of $17. However, when I tried to get a refund, Rock Auto says "neither of us made a mistake, so we'll issue you half of the price of the replacement part and shipping." Well the second (replacement order) was sent with complimentary shipping. So they offered to refund me $2 on an $11 purchase. More importantly, yes they did make a mistake. It was not my mistake, they offered a product stating that it would fit my vehicle, but it did not. They try to blame it on the part manufacturer, claiming it is their error. But Rock Auto has the relationship with the manufacturer, not the consumer, and if the manufacturer is providing Rock Auto with bad information, and they perpetuate that "lie" I don't know how Rock Auto can then say it is the consumer's fault. I've had previous experiences with Rock Auto and they were very positive, but this time they failed. Finally, as the title indicates, I think this could be resolved with a simple phone call and explanation, but they admittedly have no customer service line or "human being" to address the situation.

Bad parts

I've bought several parts from this place and they were bad. Once they are put on a car... no returns. Bad struts, control arm and ball joint. Do not buy anything from them.

Expensive and incorrect shipping times

I placed an order with rockauto because it said I would have it 6 days before Amazon. After placing my order I was sent shipping confirmation and it will not arrive until 3 days after Amazon. They have removed all customer service. I have been using Rockauto for almost 10 years, NOT ANYMORE. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE, NO CUSTOMER.

2014 mazda3. OEM shocks come with mount and hardware, you sell them without mounts knowing mounts can't be purchased separately just so you can make $30 on a return you have lost me as a customer. Just like another lost customer said shopping online for auto parts is a JOKE NO CUSTOMER SERVICE JUST HIDE behind a computer. Technology at its best.
