Food was horrendous. I bought a burger ($18), it was on a stale bun (the kind that falls apart when you hold it), they put two thin dried nasty burgers that were made a week ago. I could not eat it, I tried like hell cuz I was hungry and I had a long flight, I still have the taste in my mouth, and I tell you, it takes a lot for me to complain, I have never written a review on a restaurant before in my life. My cousin bought a grilled fish sandwich. He didn't even try to eat it as it was dry and looked like it sat on the counter over night. I wish I would have done the same, oh how I wish! But I can't, so all I can do now is warn other travelers not to give hard earned $ to this place. Go to McDonald's instead, it will be 1000x's better I promise below is the receipt that I was given from my cousins fish sandwich return. Since you order and purchase online at the table, I don't have a receipt (except for my credit card)
Should have read reviews. Bought certificates and gift cards. First restaurant said they quit taking these 2 years ago. Only 8 restaurants on the list. 2 restaurants did take certificates- 2 restaurants have closed. No one has taken gift cards so far. App and website are totally rediculous to navigate and keep sending you back to same place after having you put in your password again and again. Do not buy!
Review of Restaurant.com. There is no deal for the consumer here for the most part. Spent $10 for a $25 certificate. I had to spend at least $35 for the dinner... but of course due to the restaurant's menu prices I had to spend $45... then had to pay a high NY tax rate on that... and tip of 18% was automatically added to $45 bucks dinner for two (for practically no service)... and for cheap Mexican food. Where is the deal? Perhaps if you are spending 50 on steak and lobster it would have been worth it, but then again... for 2 dinner's I would have had to spend $100... so buyer BEWARE!
I have a new credit of $25 with this company because several years ago I bought a coupon and when we went to the bbq place, they would only accept it if we spent double the $25 and not the $35 it stated, We couldn't eat that much and they didn't allow take-out with coupon. Even though they are a walk-up order and do drop off your food, you get your own drinks, napkins, etc. I was told they still added in the 18% tip as stated on coupon. Needless to say, we left. Now this credit shows up years later, but with my special code, I pay the same for the coupon as its value. Why would I want to hassle with ordering extra food and paying dollar for dollar for a coupon? Some of it was my money in the first place, but I marked it up to a lost cause a long time ago. Restaurant.com may not be a scam, but is definitely a bit shady.
We got our "gift certificates" from making a purchase of at least $75 at Motherhood Maternity. We searched the store to find items we really didn't need to hit that amount because receiving $50 in gift cards to restaurants sounded logical. The choices of restaurants are lame and there is only about 1 or 2 options local otherwise you have to drive over an hour to find one of the restaurants listed. We used our first one at a bar/restaurant that does not serve good food at all. It was a joke - only served pizza and appetizers. We had to spend at least $50 to get the $25 off. So we bought two pizzas to take home and a bunch of appetizers. NOT worth the money at all and this whole service is a rip off. Wish I could give less than a star.
If I could give them a -10 I would!
It says no where when purchasing the certificates that you can only use 1/purchase. I purchased 100.00 worth of certificates for a restaurant while on vacation only to be told I can use 1 25.00 certificate/visit and even per month!
WTF am I going to do with the other 75.00 I have there.
It doesn't explain this until after the purchase has been made! GO TO HELL RESTAURANT.COM
I'm on vacation and nearly broke my bank buying the certificates then had to still pay 100.00 for my meal!
Entered in my 2 gift cards and when I went to redeem they were gone! No balance! Entered them in again and there was an error that the cards were already used. But I never used them.
Emailed customer help, and they sent what seemed to be an automated message on how to enter in the gift card. Emailed them 2 more times and nothing, no response.
This garbage site seems like a major scam.
The website is impossible to navigate - I tried going on and exchanging a certificate that I had purchased because the restaurant no longer honors it, and I could not get into my account. There's no help button, there's no way to contact them with a question. And, using their certificates really doesn't save you money. Do NOT purchase anything from restaurant.com! It's a complete waste of your money.
I like this site... When you get comfortable using it you will love it. Also. I recommend that you must live in a big City... Otherwise... it wont be too many options to choose from... but the site works well.
We unfortunately received 2 certificates. Be careful, most of these coupons require a minimum purchase of twice the certificate amount and some of the restaurants opted out of the program. If you do use it, just be careful. Call ahead and read the fine print. Not very convenient though.
In my area, local business have quit accepting vouchers from restaurant.com. The remaining businesses available to redeem vouchers is few and far between or for establishments I would eat from. This is a waste of time and money. Gift vouchers were a package gift card for dinner and movies.
The complete lack of any customer service and the website's constant failure to hold information makes this the worst possible way to spend you time or money.
The certificate I got for $100 was deleted at least 6 times and I have only been able to use it once.
RUN! RUN! RUN AWAY!
This is probably the most annoying thing I've ever done. Downloaded the app, unable to navigate it. It was impossible to find anything because the window was huge and couldn't shrink it. Okay, went to the PC to the website. Again the most ridiculous attempt to locate a simple restaurant somewhere near me. It would not go to any location except New York and I am in Florida. I gave up. Have two 25.00 "gift cards" or coupons from my bank that are absolutely a waste of time.
I bought a $75 gift certificate for a restaurant and took the whole office to a nice luncheon. When we got there the restaurant said they didn't accept these certificates for lunch.
I'm very aware of the rules and limitations on all of the restaurant.com certificates and specifically looked for this limitation. On all other restaurants that have a dinner only limitation it specifically says "not valid for lunch" or "dinner only". This was not the case for this restaurant.
When I notified restaurant.com they said too bad, we'll credit your account. I didn't want a credit, I want my money back. Sorry... if you didn't read our 9 page legal contract, but please try again. I guess next time I should contact an attorney before I make a $30 restauranat.com purchase. That's not gonna happen because I will NEVER make another purchase from Restaurant.com.
I exchanged my United Mileage for pieces of trash! We went to one restaurant and the owner said she never authorized to be on restaurant.com and won't accept my coupon. I exchanged the amount to another restaurant on the list. I got smart and called ahead before I went only to find out they don't take the coupon, too! Then why is the restaurant still on the list? There's also no decent places to choose from. I should of just redeem magazines instead of useless certificates!
United Airlines offers a Restaurant.com diner's certificate as a way to extend the expiration of miles. I bought one several years ago for 500 miles. Am now looking into using it. But am finding out that I need to spend $50+ in order to use the $25. That was not my understanding when I first bought the certificate with miles. Apparently, I am not the only one having problems with this certificate. 81% of the reviews on Sitejabber.com gave Restaurant.com 1 star and called it a "scam".
I just spoke with MileagePlus customer service and got my 500 miles credited back to me which was the correct thing to do.
But shame on you, United Airlines, for continuing to offer such a scam product.
Be advised, they will take your $9.95 processing fee and then, only then you see the restaurants and the limited ridiculous offers to save money. One one was even in my area, and most of them are pizza, or food I would never eat. Plus, After logging in, I cant even get them to return my request to cancel my subscription.
Dont take the bait. This is a terrible promotion.

All I can stay is that dealing with these idiots is the worst experience I have had regarding food since I got food poising for Subway, and that was only slightly worse.
I guessing that they stopped using phones numbers because of the horribly discussing peasant accents that they have...
Your money is better spent at Groupon or one of the other sites...
F-U Restaurants.com you are deserving of an IRS audit!
Tried it for the first (and last time). The restaurant does not accept their app certificate (Indian Spice House in Buffalo). Restaurants.com is a ripoff in that they don't check to see if they are working with dishonest restaurants like this one that say they accept certificates but don't
These certificates can save you a lot of money and have saved me a lot over the years if used properly.
The main thing that I learned when planning on using these is to ALWAYS call the restaurant you are going to attend. Either they will say YES or NO. And always get the employees name that confirms if they say they will accept coupon.
After learning to do this small action before going out for dinner I have had great success with this company.
Answer: Same thing happened to me. There is no live person to talk to. They will give you a credit to use on another voucher but you will probably run into the same problem.
Answer: Burn it! Restaurant.com is not going to work with you at all. They are scam artists
Answer: Most likely because of people like me. I had never heard of this company, but, was offered their cards as part of a promotion. After being burned, I took the time to post my opinion. Others may not take the time to caution others...
Answer: Yes you need to pay almost 5 times as much as you pay. Dont do that
Answer: Terms of use make it nearly impossible to redeem gift cards.
Answer: No restaurants directly accept the gift card at the restaurant.
Answer: Don't even bother
Answer: You probably can't since it is virtually impossible to reach the company. I wish I had a better answer for you.
Answer: Your question is not very clear but if your certificate is "unused" I assume that means it hasn't been used yet and it is available for you to use. Be sure to check for other possible restrictions and minimum purchases.
Answer: And when you call restaurant.com Theresa K or some other staff member will politely tell you, in essence, you don't have any $135 value. They will find a reason but they will suggest you spend more only to loss that too. Be cautious.
The company has garnered significant negative feedback, primarily centered around customer service failures and issues with account management. Many customers report lost funds and unresponsive support, leading to sentiments of being scammed. Additionally, the limited and outdated restaurant options have contributed to dissatisfaction, as customers frequently encounter closed establishments. While a few positive experiences are implied regarding the product concept, the overwhelming sentiment reflects frustration and distrust. To improve its reputation, the company must enhance communication, streamline account management, and ensure accurate listings of participating restaurants.
