I had purchased these year plates for my grandchildren's Christmas gifts, a different plate for each year my grandchild was born as a keepsake for each one of them and the 2007 plate isn't in a box. How am I supposed to wrap this and for my grandson to keep and store so this doesn't get broken. I will think twice about ordering from Replacements.com!
I ordered four china mugs and paid $9.99 shipping for each item on top of the mug price. One mug arrived broken because their packer stacked 1 mug inside another with only a piece of tissue between them. They were 2 stacks of 2 mugs in a huge box of peanuts. After many emails I have given up attempting to recoup the shipping cost for the 1 broken mug. They refunded the item price only. They will not accept responsibility for the extremely poor packing that caused the breakage. I am also wondering if the mugs are fakes since they have a sticker on the bottom identifying the brand instead of the stamp the older ones I own have. I am so disappointed I did not google the company for reviews before purchasing. My experience with Ebay and the delivery of a fine bone china teacup and saucer was divine compared to this.
I have been both a buyer and a seller to Replacements Limited in North Carolina. At age 85 now I don't know that I have ever known a company that has such amiable people working there. Many many of them have been there for 20 plus years. I got to know Bob the owner to some extent just because he walked around and talk to both his customers and his employees. He had regular pizza parties for them and they could bring their dogs to work. It just seemed like it would be a wonderful place to work. That speaks volumes for the owner and training employees. Be assured that when you buy from them you are getting merchandise that has been thoroughly examined for any flaws. This is an outstanding business in every respect.
I have replaced pieces of my dinner set from this company several times over the last 10 years. A couple of years ago a decorator item I ordered never arrived and I went through the process of claiming from them. Now a grandchild has broken another piece in my dinner set - the highly judgmental accountant has decided that I steal from them and refused my order. Apparently items to Australia are never lost in the post? Disgusting customer service. Not impressed.
A couple of ladies started this china replacement service in a garage. Now it is a huge and successful operation.
They have a vast inventory of discontinued patterns as well as new pieces.
I keep them bookmarked for my Spode "Pearl River"... but quite honestly I prefer to do business with ebay... better deals to be had.
Not that I have criticisms with Replacements.com... they are willing to take your money, when you become desperate for that missing piece. They saw a niche and seized upon it.
"It's not personal... it's just business" right?
I am giving them five stars for their efficiency and organizational attributes.
Absolutely the worst customer service I've encountered for years... a 1 out of 10. I ordered several plates that added to an existing set. The die lot on their Lenox Chirp Dinner Plate was blotchy and it had a small, blue permanent ink marking on the back (not on original). Drew told me to send him pictures of my original, side by side, with their plate and he would try to find plates in stock that would be satisfactory. It has been 4 weeks, 4 emails, 2 voice messages and a successful return of the defective plates to their customer care team and no one has bothered to even tell me that they are sorry that they don't have a suitable replacement.
I ordered new plates to replace some in my Pfaltzgraff Lido Beach set. The new plates look like they are knock offs. There is hardly any pattern definition. They are a different color and a different weight than the originals
I spent more than $100 for shipping. I wrapped everything securely as they instructed. Among more than $500 worth of items according to their culculation, $60 worth items were reported broken during shipping. The items are bone China and they are really hard to break. The fragile stickers seemed to have done nothing to do with shipping. I don't know if it is USPS or replacements.com. Please note that they might tell you that items were broken even though you followed their wrapping instructions.
Bought replacement glass, paid 125% of the cost of glass for shipping. Received wrong size item. Per conversation with customer service: it is my fault. My options? Pay again 125% of item cost to ship it back.
I wish I had read all of the complaints - including about selling counterfeits - before I ordered from these people. I ordered replacement dishes from Replacements.com. As soon as they arrived, I could tell most of the dishes they sent me were knockoffs - they were larger, cruder in shape, and whiter than the originals I owned. When I complained, Replacements.com agreed to refund my money - if I mailed back their counterfeits at my own cost!
I recently sent my china and crystal to Replacements Ltd to sell after getting an offer from them. The crystal had never been used and had been packed away for over 30 years. Surprise, surprise, Replacements Ltd told me that the crystal, according to their inspection, was excessively scratched and they could not provide pictures to support their claims. So of course they reduced the rate of the crystal by 25%. I requested the crystal be returned. Their inspection of the china I sent was very questionable, saying one piece was broken, no way I believe that either with the packing that was completed with the china before sending. I would give them no stars but it wouldn't let me. Replacements Ltd is a rip off and very dishonest. Find another place to sell your china, crystal, and other collectibles.
I placed an order for 2 plates and decided I needed 4. I sent a cancellation which was ignored until until three days later after the original order was shipped. I placed a second order for 2 plates and again decided I needed 4. I sent a change order which was ignored until 3 days later after the original order was shipped. I will place an order for 6 place settings but it won't be from Replacements.com since they don't provide any customer service.
I offered them 8 Villeroy & Boch salad plates in mint condition. They were selling them on their site for $80 each. They offered me $2 a plate!. It was going to cost me more than $16 to ship them to Replacements and I would end up losing money. I'll sell them on line at a loss, but still do better than dealing with Replacements.
I have four sets of antique China. When I look at their offer and what they sell it at, it's at a 75% markup. I live a half hour away and because of their lowball offer I have to ship it. No thank you. Not worth my time and energy nor cost effective
I am an old hand at buying all sorts of items online from overseas, but often find sellers of fragile items dont supply to Australia- or charge killer prices for S&H. China and glassware are really difficult to get. Not so Replacements! I recently purchased from them and Im blown away by the speed, quality of packing and overall service. In particular, the cost of shipping was exceptionally good and handled by FedEx. Having sourced the same items at the same sell price from 2 well known department stores over there, their shipping costs quoted were almost double the Replacements cost. My order attracted some local taxes, and this was collected and paid by the carrier without me having to complete any additional paperwork - brilliant. I can unreservedly recommend this terrific seller to Aussies wanting to access thousands of product choices confidently with no fuss.
I went through a tedious process of taking photos of the Versace, Lynn Chase, Gorham and other hard to find pieces of china that I no longer wanted and desired to sell. By the time, I received the offers to purchase from Replacement, I had spent hours sending info and photos to Replacements just to see if they would be interested in buying from me. I was STUNNED to see the low offers. They are selling a "discounted" Versace plate (discounted to $259.95 from $319.95) but only offered me $103 for my new, never used, mint condition plate. One of my Lynn Chase pieces was a "5 3/4" berry bowl" which they are selling on their site for $109.95. They offered me $3.00! YEP! That is what I said, THREE DOLLARS!
Again, ALL of the pieces that I have offered for sale are new, never used, mint condition pieces, some of it still in it's original box. I could go on with other pieces. But I think you get the idea here. Replacements.com is REALLY money hungry when they want to give someone nothing for what they will charge outrageous prices for.
Good info, although the photos and descriptions could be improved - not sure what they actually have in stock. Registered a china pattern with them a couple of years ago and have not had a single response that they found a piece for me, so am thinking that there's not a lot of manpower behind the site to keep it current, or people looking for your requested pattern. Prices set on the replacement site are quoted on other sites (such as eBay as price references), but they are no way near what the market will pay for such pieces. What they are asking for replacement china on their site is astronomical compared to what you could find on other websites that sell porcelain or china goods. They might have what you are looking for, although every china pattern I am interested in and have checked on their site, they don't have the actual pieces in stock.
I was moving and through some mix up my flat wear was left behind, then stolen. It was out of production but my sister told me about this site. I was able to replace everything plus add some pieces. It arrived in protective sleeves in a timely manner. I am very pleased.
I just love this place. I've had some hard-to-find Corning and Corelle pieces that I've found nowhere else -- found them at Replacements. Most recently, I was looking for stainless steel flatware pieces; I had absolutely no information on a manufacturer or age. Went in under "bamboo" and "miscellaneous", and there they were. Also was able to date my grandmother's old flatware from the early 1940s. Really love this place. Phone customer service people are so very nice, too.
I was expecting China and received plastic. When I tried to find the original description it was not available. Since I have to pay for returns I feel taken advantage of.
Answer: I do but I am looking to sell the whole set together (212 pieces, close to 6,200 grams of weight, I can send pictures if you would like to see them)
Answer: I actually do prefer ebay to Replacement. Ebay is less expensive. And better deals to be found.
