Highway Robbery

I showed up to pick up the car was told that because I was a Florida resident I will have to pay $500 deposit, once I told them no the rep at the counter gave me the wrong number to call and ask for a refund after calling the number about 12 times someone call me to tell me that I was calling the wrong place, give another number and that place told me that I called after my pick up time so therefore I couldn't get my refund! What a freaking scam! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! They refuse to give me back my money and then had the nerve to tell me to calm down that she was trying to help me!

In August 2019, we booked a car/ We cancelled the reservation in the allocated time after finding out that the main driver must be the same as the credit card owner, and re-booked a car. The company took 2 booking payments from my card. We raised a ticket with them immediately and after a few months of barely responding when we called to get an update of the ticket status, we where informed that the amount was transferred from one booking to another. We sent them numerous bank extracts and statements from the credit card that showed we were billed twice, but it is now end of January 2020, and we still didn't not get our money back.

Moreover, at some point they closed our ticket. Their customer service operators are sometimes patronizing, one raised their voice at me throughout the call, one simply hung up and everyone else just provided random different information, showing they either did not read the ticket issue or simply served some general procedural lines that were of no help. This while I have kept my calm and spoke to everyone respectfully.

At the same time we made a booking for our friend and payed with the same card. After finding out that the main driver must be in the same name as the card holder, my friend called their customer service to cancel the booking, in due time. He was assured it was done. Just to find out later that it was not actually cancelled and the they refused to refund it.

I wanted to change my booking to pick up the car a couple of hours early and I couldn't do it online and the call centre took 50mins to pick up. The person who answered was rude. It's a disgrace. Don't use them ever.

Use RentalCars.com to book a car in Grease. Didn't know that I needed an International Drivers Permit before they would give me a car.
No help from RentalCars, No car and no refund.
Don't use these guys!

Buyer beware. www.rentalcars.com may not be a direct scam, but they have consciously and knowingly been an agent for scamming and deliberately misleading car rental companies for years now. They know this, yet they refuse to stop conducting business with fraudulent organizations. This makes them complicit in and accessory to fraud. They are a willful medium of fraud on a massive number of consumers.

Don't ever book with this company. We lost $700 AUD as we prepayed our car rental. There was an issue with our arrival time and bank therefore could not rent the car. NO REFUND even tho we had to rent another car - PLEASE DONT EVER USE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE SCAMMERS!

Scam, scam, scam.

I booked a reservation thru rentalcars.com for a car in Puerto Vallarta. Upon arrival the employee, Fernanda told us our car was not available and to come back in one hour, 4 pm. When I returned she said they still had no car to give us, but it would be available by 8 pm. She said they would deliver the car to where we were staying by 9 pm and they would also deduct the cost of our taxi, $36 US dollars. I left her with 2 phone numbers and our address to contact us upon their arrival. She in return gave me a phone number to call should we have any questions, *******111, which turned out to be bogus. We waited till 11 pm and no car delivered. The number on the Dollar mexican website, ************** also was bogus, no one ever answers. The next day up till noon we still had no word on our car. My husband and i rented another car for our family as we had obligations. It is now 2 DAYS LATER and NO ONE from dollar has still contacted us. Nocar, no refund! Rentalcras.com has given us the runaround on a refund. Implied it was our fault!

We hired a car through Rentalcars.com for our trip to Cairns, Australia. After I booked the car, I decided to research the company and came upon all the negative comments on sitejabber and I became worried because of all the negative feedback. Well, my experience with rentalcars.com has been nothing but positive. We arrived in Cairns, went to the Hertz office and picked up our car. No hassles. I also purchased the insurance through them. We had no accident with the car so we are unable to comment on the insurance offered through rentalcars.com. We would have no hesitation to deal with rentalcars.com again.

Making a car rental booking, this was the first site that show up. So I booked on line. I put a location in the airport, the only office inside of the airport was hertz. So I rented from Hertz. After reading the mail, they send my reservation to a location outside of the airport. An charged 111 USD just for booking a car never used! After several calls they decided not to give me my money back because of their 48 hours of cancellation policy in the small text. Never use this service!

I wish I would have read the reviews. Do not rent with this outfit. This was the worst experience and I didn't even get to the point of even renting from them. A rate was advertised, a very good one. I never received a confirmation email from them. When I checked on line, my reservations were cancelled. The worst was that they said I was sent an email to confirm. Not true. Good Luck.

RentalCars.com tells you that you have 48 hours to cancel but what they didnt tell you is that they charge for 3 days if you do.
And if you want to file a complaint you need to wait 30 days just to start process of cancellation.

Rentalcars kept my money but failed to provide a car. Delayed flight and long queue at collection counter. I arrived after the booking time so there was no car available. But they refused a refund because I was late.

TERRIBLE service

We hired a family saloon car for our trip to Dortmund via Rentalcars.com. When we arrived at the Dollar desk, we were informed that we could only have the one car that they had. It was a 7 seater van, meaning that the 1st row of passenger seats were facing backwards. This meant we would not be able to see our baby and toddler in their baby seats. I said I cannot take the car as it is not the family friendly car that we had originally booked. I was told by Dollar to take or leave it. While at the desk, I called Rentalcars.com and spoke to someone who, after themselves speaking to the Dollar staff, confirmed what I was saying, and replied said that I could hire a car from another agency and that they, Rentalcars.com, would pay the difference, and the original booking fee. The only other car I could get was through Europcar and cost about 460 Euros. Before I took it, I again contacted Rentalcars.com and thrice confirmed the refunds due, and then booked the car suited to a family of 4 with two young children. I had been informed by Rentalcars.com, that as long as I show the receipt to them, that I would then get my refund of the original booking, and a refund of the difference in cost of the new booking.
So on our return to London, I forwarded the receipt as advised, and then got an email to say no refunds would be forthcoming. I called Rentalcars, and was again advise that I would be due a refund by the different staff members I spoke to, and that they would look into it. I advised them to read the transcripts, and listen to the recorded conversations, and understand that I was told several times that refunds would be due. I was told that they would have to investigate it and it would take up to 4 weeks!? All this despite all the conversations I have copies of, and the conversations being recorded, showing the facts. I am still awaiting reimbursement of the refunds, or any communication whatsoever. Terrible terrible service. I will go to small claims court pending the outcome of their investigation.

Would not use this Web site again
Would not use this Web site again. I would book direct with a reputable hire car company. Booked a car through this site and did not received a booking confirmation despite the full cost of the car having been taken from my bank account. No proactive follow up of the lack of confirmation despite my requests for them to contact me led to problems on car collection and 100 pounds additional charges which rentalcars.com refused to reimburse. The company they advertised on their site (easirent) wanted 1600 pounds deposit and only on a credit card! I was charged 100 pounds extra insurance in order to avoid blocking 1600 pounds on my card for up to 4 weeks Most hire car companies charge 500 pounds,
Allow deposit by debit card and return the deposit as soon as you return the car. Felt totally scammed plus it took over two hours to collect the car with all the unexpected complications. Would never use this company or rentalcars.com again. Also were not given a copy of the damage report on collection and we're given are car with damage all along the side of the car and with no glass in one of the wing mirrors. Car was also smaller than advertised, as well as costing us in the end a total of 155 pounds for 4 days hire when additional charges were included. Rentalcars.com gave no assistance with these issues and we ended up with nothing but hassle, delay and massive cost. Would book direct with a reputable hire car company with reasonable deposit levels and no rediculous hidden charges next time.

This is a scam, be careful! Nowhere on their site they are mentionning fees about using their site.
They charge me 200 pounds (307 $CAD) for reserving the car using their site.
I reserved to Europcar and when I arrived to Europcar, they wouldn't give me the car that I reserved saying it was too small for our need.
Europcar charge us extra because my husband was the main driver and I reserved with my credit card on rentalcars.com
The money that rentalcars.com charge has nothing to do with the rentals of the car.
So you don't save any money, It is not worth the 307 $CAD

ONE OF THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICES I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED
I had a problem with a receipt and customer services CHAT was not able to send it to me, so 3 people PRETENDED to have sent that receipt to me via email and ending the chat before I could tell them I had not received that email.
SOOO RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!
This unbelievable and unacceptable. I will NEVER use this company again in my life.
Also, The Italian company they work with could not provide the car that I was meant to peak up, so instead of a SMART 4x4, they gave me a JEEP RENEGADE.
