I'm a world leading expert in my field and was treated like dirt by Quora and members alike. I want no part of it anymore. I strongly recommend never posting anything of value there, for they will try to steal your intellectual property after crippling your account on false pretenses.
This site is basically porn for idiots and A-holes. If you offer any input on alternative advice, Quora will remove your answer.
Like Google, Instagram, Facebook, and other associated big tech crapshoot hell, it's another form of 1984. The New World Order conspiracy to make earthlings the most hollow, pretentious, disgraceful, butt sniffing scum of the planet. Why? To destroy the human race non-violently so robots can take over and allow the elite to have earth all for themselves.
Even tiktok is better. Quora's moderation is inconsistent, echo-chambers are abundant. Censorship is abundant. Quora gonna be irrelevant in 5 years at this rate. Or they make a stupid enough decision like tumbling down tumblr did. Pathetic excuse of Bandwidth space wasted. " I certify that this review is based on my own experience and that I am in no way affiliated with this business, and have not been offered any incentive or payment from the business to write this review." It's negative definitely not siding with Quora, nobody even if they get paid should respect this platform. 10 Million minimum shill or bust. Not a trustworthy website and also allowed Bitcoin scams as ads. Anyone taking the platform even a little seriously like I mistakened have should quit not just Quora, ALL Social media if possible for your life. I'd rate this site -20/100 if I could. Trump's pile of dung > Quora as a whole.
Quora used to be a clean, ad-free place to ask interesting questions and get in depth answers. The website was polished and efficient, without unnecessary clutter of ads, graphics and other website 'noise'.
It's become a clunky, repetitive echo chamber with overly zealous moderation and selective enforcement of their so-called "Be Nice" policy. The website was recently sold and has become bloated with dozens of ads per page, obnoxious graphics and now loads incredibly slowly even on 5 mbps internet connections.
The questions are no longer interesting, with a good 80% being repetitive versions of why one political side does X or what Z and Q sides think of each other. Trolling questions have also proliferated as the moderation is busier playing favorites than keeping up on overall moderation.
Awful UI and UX, ugly coloring that starts small and becomes unbearable quickly. Forced sign up and frequent privacy sign out. Frequent loss of personal customer data with no notice to help prevent identity theft after the fact. Professionals have stopped posting opinions and weighing in so it's really more for pre-teens and teenagers now. Obnoxious policies and removals. Start your life of spam and inbox madness with Quora
Banned after being reported by mentally ill political science (professors). Stated reason was, "sock puppeting" improving my answers on 2 accounts. Offered to remove one or combine both accounts. I was never informed this was "against the rules". I appealed after looking up what "sock puppeting" is. Quora is only interested in spreading gossip and stealing users content and selling ads. Would fund a Conservative alternative.
Quora had a very left wing bias. I thought is may be improving by adding spaces for GOP {Yes it is a valid political party and not made of monsters!}. Then I posted a comment about racial matters. I said and I quote:
"You know I moved to Costa Rica. Nobody get worried about these terms. People are too busy working. Americans are too rich and spoiled"
This was said to be "Hate Speech". Where is the hate? The worst thing is "spoiled". Not really hatred but an opinion. After that I closed my account with them.
One of my comments got a response basically saying I should bow down to white Americans. I responded with every thing they've done that was bad in the past. All facts that a simple google search can verify. All objective, no insults or anything. And I'm banned from commenting/answering cause I violated bnbr rules. They cannot handle any sense of maturity and people will report u for anything. I don't care if I am banned, the website sucks and so do the people on it.
I used Quora for several years. I contributed a number of answers (around 1000) and had over half a million views. Recently they decided to ban me with no reason and no clear explanation. I can only deduce that the reason was because in some answers I refer to external links, although any time that I did this I also provided a minimum of a full paragraph and in some cases, more than 10 paragraphs. I appealed the decision and still got no useful information from them about why I was banned, but told it is their final decision and will not be overturned. I hate to think how much time I wasted on their site, but now you couldn't pay me to go back.
Don't waste your time and submit and appeal. (They will never undo it.) What bothers me the most about them is for how they preach that is is such a safe space and not a place for adult related content as a majority of the users are teenagers. So why is it when I say "I disagree" my comment gets deleted but then the guy who says and I quote this person is as "ugly as hell" but then doesn't get banned? This wasn't just one time, but multiple times this same individual did this. Can you guess if they have been banned yet? You guessed it: no. There have been way more serious comments and content that don't get addressed all. Ex: racism, harassing an individual, etc. The only redeeming quality that they have is you will get multiple views on your answer, from many different people. I have usually always had my question answered to my satisfaction but their policies are what is messed. Up.
Just something way-off-the-beaten-path with this site. There are "some" good people who are on this site; but the overall vibe of it for me is... It's like the twilight zone of social media. I did get lots of great responses for the short time I participated in commenting, etc. but I deleted this account... had a deep sigh and felt liberated from whatever the heck this site really is. Looking at people's pets, grandkids, baked goods, silly dances, etc. doesn't seem so bad anymore when compared to this odd site.
Quora is run by psychopath moderators. I left it because i found out they torture its members mentally by asking you to explain a crystal clear question and go on asking you to do so inspite of the fact that your answer has started getting answers.
This was an okay and decent informational site at one time. Now there are many mean comments to sincere questions, fake identities, and people present their opinions as facts. Some answers are good and contributors excellent, but too many people are hateful, give their opinion as fact and now it is a mess.
The mods don't help either. It's a place for arrogant egotistical pseudointellectuals. You can't even ask a simple question and get a straight simple answer. The site is exclusively for people who have way to much time on their hands bragging about how smart they are.
The moderation system is flawed. Many people's answers get "collapsed" (semi-hidden) for allegedly violating rules such as Be Nice Be Respectful, when such rules clearly weren't intended to prevent their kind of answers. To see many specific examples, simply search on Quora itself for something like "Quora moderation".
I'm not sure whether Quora is too willing to collapse answers that other users complain about, or whether human moderators are biased and prefer to reject answers they disagree with, or both.
For questions that nobody will get upset about, Quora's users sometimes produce very good answers. To some extent, the Quora system probably helps to encourage that quality.
Honestly I've seen a couple good answers but its full of pretentious self centred idiots. Who will try and rudely attack your replies even when you have actually agreed with their comments. Its full of wealthy who can't see or understand the poorer or less fortunate in societies view. Which makes in my opinion them the less knowledgable
Last review of dani c described my experience like looking into a mirror! There are a lot of bullies in this site, male or female alike. Dani seems like a female but I'm a dude and even I get bullied. They like to pounce on people they don't like often with near impunity. They act like they own the place. Play by their rules or suffer, seems to be the message they're sending out to others. No thanks. I ended up getting at least few stalkers on my hand rn and I just couldn't believe it. I can only imagine how worse it would be for female.
I finally decided to close my account recently as moderators do not respond and allow one upmanship where people group together and harass genuine writers. The number of complaints have been building up slowly. It is just a matter of time that Quora will become the new Nokia. It is slowly dying due to a thousand deaths. Ask 10 people and 5-6 will tell you frustrating stories. If anyone can come up with a better site and good GUI, contact me. I will fund a new Quora. Quora is also a copyright cesspit. Quora writers frequently copy google images without any attribution and Quora allows it. Expect a massive lawsuit sometime against this website. Quora is the Backpage of copyright and plagiarism.
I got blocked from quota for asking if it was a democratic ran website because every time I made a post stating facts not opinion about the democratic parties history I would get a message from quora saying my post was troll post. It's pretty obvious the answers on quora aren't those of everyone only the views allowed by them to achieve there agenda. It's a clear example of a communist ran site just like Facebook. And if you feel like doing about ten yrs in prison take some legal advice from the wannabe lawyers trolling the site. It's a unreliable site backed by the biggest terrorist in the world. The democratic party and black lives matter!
If you want to ask genuinely probing questions about real world topics, forget it! - you will be warned, then shortly after your account will be frozen.
In particular real world questions about the UK government's polices on treatment of the sick and disabled. Even when you ask politely, you will be censored - its a testament to how close a nerve I touched, it confirms that I was asking the right questions, ill be posting my findings online about Quoras rampant fascist moderators.
Quora masks their fascist censorship with this statement, "you have violated our policies".
Answer: Yes, the questions about penis size and virginity seems to sponsor endless discussion!
Answer: Because Google put Quora answers at the top of their search results when people search for a question they see the answer from Quora. Which is stupid because most answers on Quora aren't even correct lol. Idk why Google wants to promote that site, if they own it or they want to buy it and incorporate it into Google at some point. I think the site is awful and it should be shut down because it's just a propaganda site. You do not see Quora from any other search engine for example duckduckgo. But you see it in Google.
Answer: No, it is obviously leftist but it does on occasion allow questions or replies for short periods of time that are obviously uncomfortable to the "politicaly correct" crowd in a useless attempt to appear unbiased.
Answer: I honestly feel and highly suspect from certain traits that Quora pays Google to be high on the rank and they get *buddy buddy* with the government. Quora is essentially too big to fail. We no longer have capitalism but now live under governmentism which Trump pledges to end but can he? Does he really mean what he says? That is the million $ question.
Quora has a rating of 1.5 stars from 612 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Quora most frequently mention social media, hate speech and left wing. Quora ranks 79th among Question And Answer sites.
