Priceline Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reveals significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to issues with booking accuracy, hidden fees, and inadequate customer service. Many reviews highlight frustrations with non-refundable reservations and uncommunicated changes, leading to feelings of being misled. While some customers appreciated the initial pricing, the subsequent hidden costs and lack of support during disputes overshadowed these positives. A recurring sentiment is a lack of accountability from the company, prompting numerous customers to vow never to use the service again. This feedback indicates a critical need for improved transparency and customer support practices.

I was totally unaware my hotel booked through my Priceline mobile app actually resulted in my reservation being booked at the hotel through AGODA. I was on hold for hours for support that was zero help.

They ripped me off
November 16, 2018

Quoted me one price and took out another out of my credit card! Tried ringing them back to ask why? And they said that the hotel are booking out quick so the price went up but sorry we can't give you a refund!
They are getting away with straight out robbery from unexpected users.
STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS!

STAY AWAYYYYY!
November 15, 2018

Their "detailed" explanation of the properties are very misleading and will fool you. One of them said that they had breakfast buffet for a fee, if you read it among a big paragraph, it will confuse you and make you think that the breakfast buffet is for free, not for a fee. Customer Service was non existent and cold. They didn't care and did nothing to help the situation nor tried to resolve it. They didn't cancel the reservation nor comped the breakfast. Their attitude was even worst.
Will NOT use them ever again!

Reserved a car rental 6 months in advance... paid up front (which I thought was unusual) tried to change after one of my accommodation's fell through they would not let me change or cancel. THIS IS A CAR RENTAL 6 MONTHS FROM NOW!

They claim it was something I clicked during reservation process... this is TOTALLY NON INDUSTRY PRACTICE... you can book directly with a car rental company and cancel or change days before your arrival.

I am still fighting these bastards.

Mark Osmer, Wilmington NC

PS They were $140 more expensive then booking with the car company directly without the resestrictions.

Because of their unresponsive and confusing website I accidentally booked the same room twice, within 4 minutes. I IMMEDIATELY tried to correct the problem. Achieving voice communication with a human was nearly impossible. When I did reach a human, they refused to cancel the second reservation, even knowing the mistake was a result of their software. The representative refused to connect me to a supervisor or anyone having authority to correct the error. Be VERY WARY of PRICELINE.COM. The website is deceptive and it is very easy to loose your money. IRRETRIEVABLY.

They have a no change - no cancellation policy. I was attending a conference and it got moved one week up and all I wanted to do was change my reservation to reflect that, and they wouldn't. I even called AMEX to have them help and they wouldn't. This is how priceline makes their money on reservations!

DON'T EVER USE PRICELINE EVER AGAIN!

I used priceline.com to locate a hotel for a business travel to New York City from 23 September to 6 October 2018.

I opted for an "express deal" version of their service that normally works for me in similar occasions.

Unfortunately, the whole exercise went wrong when I was given a hotel that does not match what was supposedly on offer. What I opted for was a hotel suitable for business travel with the intention to spend USD 3800 for 13 nights. However, the hotel I was given is called the Night Hotel (132 West 45th street). The hotel is a specialized sort of hotel that caters to clients with Gothic life style and with décor described by the hotel owners as "Gothic Chic". The color theme and everything about the place was dark. It is very eerie and unnatural by any measure.

I immediately made up my mind that I could not stay in the hotel and tried hard to opt out of the deal and not lose the money.

I called priceline right away to seek advice. I didn't get any help despite the weight of my explanation that this was not a mainstream hotel and not at all comparable to the hotels priceline indicated that I could get for the amount of money I was ready to spend. All the agents I spoke to in several frantic calls that day kept telling me express deals are non-refundable.

I also called the hotel and received a similarly unhelpful response despite my firm confirmation to them that I will not be staying at the hotel and that they can take my word to rent the room out. They insisted that I have to deal with price line. They were also defensive when I explained that I did not think their hotel was mainstream and suitable for a business traveler.

While in New York, I made time to drop in at the hotel and appealed to front desk staff that since it is evident that I amnot staying in the hotel, whether they can take my word to rent out the room to help me recover the money. They did not care and remained defiant. Given the limited time I had in NYC and my heavy work commitments there, I could not push it further.

The whole thing was a big scam and I am still trying to recover USD 3800 simply lost through this scam of a deal.

Casa Faena advertised as a 4 star hotel when no pool, no fitness center, old smelly elevators, old carpets, cheap towels. When called costumer service they told me hotel rate by prior costumers as good but hotel is old, no amenities available, cheap towels, bad service, smelly, overpriced parking, overall not a 4 star hotel, more like a 2 star hotel. I talked to two supervisors Luis and a woman afterward. When I told her about the stars she told me is related to costumer reviews, so I asked her if we all rate motel 6 as awesome review then motel will be 5stqrs? Obviously she had no answer. I think I was overcharged, thought coming to a 4 star hotel and clearly not the case. I was in faena hotel before, which is 4 star and ended in casa faena or hotel claridge as I was charged on my credit card.
I am a doctor and I work every other week and travel twice A month to 4-5 stars hotel for pleasure. This is not a 4 star hotel, and is false advertisement to put it in Priceline as a 4star hotel when you have so many bad reviews which are the reality of the hotel.

We booked a 4 day 3 night stay room with a king bed at Las Vegas. When we arrived we were taken to a room with two queen beds. I showed them the reservation and after carefully looking at it found the reservation was for someone hearing impaired. There was never a question asking if any special accommodations were needed and we did not need any. I was also told if we wanted to have a king bed we would have to take one on the first floor next to the street that was for someone needing wheelchair accommodations.
I was told the hotel had done renovations last year and all of the third party vendors were informed of the changes and knew only those rooms on the first floor offered special accommodations.
When I called Priceline the representative told me the only option he had was to cancel the reservation. I explained I then would have no room and would have to hopefully find another probably at a much higher cost. He said that was my only option as it was clearly stated in the contract the room was for hearing impaired. I told him I will never use Priceline and he gave no real response.

WILL NEVER USE PRICELINE AGAIN AS I FEEL THE RESERVATION PROCESS DOES NOT CLEARLY STATE WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO GIVE YOU AS A ROOM.

Also what would have happened if someone who did not accommodations and we had taken the only room left for them.

I arrived to the airport on time for my scheduled flight at 9:00 a.m. I then found out that the flight time was changed to 8:30 A.M. I did not receive any notification from Priceline on the change of flight. Jet Blue informed me that since I purchased my flight tickets from Priceline, Priceline was suppose to notify me about the change in departure time. I missed my schedule flight and I am very unhappy about this occurrence. It is a most unpleasant feeling to find out, only upon arriving to the airport, that I missed my flight because of a time change that Priceline did not inform me about. I woke up in the middle of the night, to then travel in it to the airport to ensure that I'd make it here on time. I arrived at the airport at 7:30 a.m. assuming I had plenty of time to check in and be on my flight of 9:00am. At 8:15 A. M I was unable to check into my flight and it was only then that I found out about the flight change. I had no choice but to reschedule my flight for the only later time which is at 8:00PM! I had to also reschedule all of my other reservations for the day. I am disgusted at this inconvenience that Priceline has put me through. I would have appreciated any kind of notification to tell me about the flight schedule change. Instead I am now stuck at the airport, losing an entire day of my vacation that I planned months ago. I will never use this service again for any of my vacations and I will never recommend anyone to use Priceline.

They are price gougers. Use anybody but them. Their price was $600 but right before finalizing booking process they raised price over $100 a night and then they did'nt honor their price guarantee when I found a lower price.

Long story short 4 miles from checking in hotel, phone rings. Priceline lets me know they are going to have to cancel my reservation due to the hotel being overbooked. But hey we will refund you plus 20% or you can make your own reservation and we'll reimburse you the difference. Well that's great, but all of Nashville was booked and everything within 80 miles was booked due to the Ed Sheeran Concert. No kidding the same concert I was attending, now with NO place to get ready and no place to stay afterwards. Went to the hotel and they confirmed that 3rd party hotels do not get confirmations as they should even though I was holding one in hand. Terrible way to start our one night away, but we made the most out of it. We ended up staying in Cookville. We arrived there around 330 am in the morning. Thanks Priceline! You made our date night beyond stressful and I want to make sure no one else makes the same mistake. It's not worth the 25.00 you might save. Book thru the hotel and have a Guaranteed Reservation!

Horible
October 9, 2018

The worse company I have even seen or heard in my life - do not ever use it.
I rented a car from them for my son and daughter in law, plane was defective and delayed several hours, they got to Baltimore about 4h late, at 12:05am. Counter closed at 12 but the guy was still there, however he refused to give them the car, he said, now i go home, though my son pleaded with him. I called priceline, the said that my son and daughter could "sleep in the airport until next day and then they get a car." I asked for a refund so we could rent a car form Hertz that was still open, they refused. We paid again, got a car from Hertz. I called priceline next day for a refund since we never got the car and we paid Hertz. The lady refused, I talked to a manager, she said she will investigate and if the plane was late and we never took the car I will get reimbursed. Though I had the proof that we never got the car, that reservation was canceled, we did not pick up he car, yet I never got reimbursed. I called them uncounted times, they were rude and refused to reimburse the amount.
Absolutely terrible customer service, they do not care for customers.

Customer service is a SCAM. Spent over 2 hours with 2 representatives. Kept contradicting what the hotel was telling me about canceling my reservation. The hotel was willing to cancel and issue me a full refund however I was told by priceline the hotel refused the cancellation and I went back and forth with the hotel and priceline and received two different stories so I called the hotel on 3 way much to the dismay of the priceline rep and the hotel said they never even tried calling them! Even though I was put on hold for 15 minutes. It's not worth saving a few bucks for the AWFUL scam system they run

Terrible company
October 8, 2018

I recently booked a hotel room through priceline and accidentally booked the wrong dates - i called priceline and they said they would call the hotel room but then said it was a "restricted booking" this was not reflected at the time i was booking it. They stated they would speak to the manager but then never did - they also said they would get in contact with them first thing in the morning and leave a message on my file to clear this up as my booking date was supposed to be for the next day. They flat out refused to discount of change my reservation. DO NOT USE PRICELINE absolutely a scam

Bait and Switch
October 8, 2018

Never book with Priceline, you can't trust you're going to get what's shown on the website! I selected a room at the Radisson Blu 1919 from a list of hotels in Reykjavik Iceland. Everything on the website showed the Radisson Blu 1919 in the booking. I was able to select a room, choose dates and go through the entire process with the website showing the Radisson Blu 1919. Unfortunately, when I received receipt of purchase Priceline had booked with a different hotel.

Customer service said we had booked without being able to select a hotel, a completely false statement. Many discussions on the phone all we heard was No, No, No and that's not what our system shows. Never seen such a large company perform the Bait and Switch.

Priceline is a ripe off. They do not issue refunds nor do they give a credit. At least, they should offer a credit to a future purchase. Unfortunately, my plans changed due to the birth of a new grandbaby and I had to cancel my trip. BEWARE of any company that does not offer a refund or at least a credit. DO NOT USE PRICELINE!

Relying on previous experience with Priceline's 24 hour cancellation policy, I decided to try and save $20 by booking an express deal. It appeared I had to book it to see what time it departed. I ended up with a booking to go see my dying father-in-law at a time of day that would have required my husband to take an extra vacation day. And all customer service could say on the first call was, "I'm sorry, you've booked a non-refundable flight". I'm glad they record their conversations so IF anyone CARES they will hear how utterly disgusted I am with how unclear the web process is about this, and the deep certainty in my voice when I told them this experience means I will NEVER use Priceline again.

Shortly there was a message to call them back... so I did. After being shamed for not knowing that express deals were nonrefundable, I was finally allowed to cancel the booking for a $15 fee. Which I did. Okay, customer "service" there was probably something in small print somewhere so you're *legally* correct, I'm sure. But I got no points for not flying frequently and not immediately knowing these things. The rep was so short with me and implied I was the problem for being upset (apparently I interrupted her while she was trying to charge me $15 to "help" me), that I actually went back to the website to see if my distress over my father-in-law's illness had led me to miss something obvious. NOT! I've attached a couple screenshots of the type of deal that led me to my unfortunate nonrefundable experience. Even if you scroll down the page, there is NOTHING about what you are clicking toward being non-refundable. This is FAR from consumer-friendly. Priceline, I will now never forget that express deals are nonrefundable- but it doesn't matter since I won't be booking with you again.

Is it better to be right or have a repeat customer?
