Priceline Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reveals significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to issues with booking accuracy, hidden fees, and inadequate customer service. Many reviews highlight frustrations with non-refundable reservations and uncommunicated changes, leading to feelings of being misled. While some customers appreciated the initial pricing, the subsequent hidden costs and lack of support during disputes overshadowed these positives. A recurring sentiment is a lack of accountability from the company, prompting numerous customers to vow never to use the service again. This feedback indicates a critical need for improved transparency and customer support practices.

When I had to cancel my reservation due to circumstances out of my control, Priceline.com agents informed me that I could cancel and receive a refund only if the hotel approved of it. Great. The hotel approved when I was on the phone with them yet Priceline told me the hotel refused. In fact, Priceline told me the hotel had been abusive on the phone. I was horrified and readily accepted that I would not be receiving a refund. Shortly after I got off the phone with Priceline, the hotel staff called me. They told me that Priceline had made a habit of throwing them under the bus in order to avoid refunding customers. Customers would leave negative reviews on the hotel's site, mistakenly believing Priceline when they tarnished the reputation of the hotel.

Horrified yet again, I called Priceline back and waited 40 minutes to speak with someone about this. After an hour of back and forth, they issued me a cancellation and refund. They offered no apology to the hotel, whose actions they are actively harming with their practices.

From here on out, I have learned my lesson. Book directly with the hotel! They are often family owned and do not deserve the stress of dealing with Priceline.com anymore than we, the unfortunate customers, do.

We recently booked a trip to Hawaii through this Agency. Everything went through as expected. Just today 6-14-21, we received an email notice from Priceline stating that our flight schedule has been changed without our consent. The hours we selected, seat numbers, and flight time all were changed WITHOUT notice. Tried to contact them but not successful. This is absolutely unacceptable. Terrible customer service. Strongly not recommend to anyone.
Unhappy customer.

This motel is filthy and a health hazard - stained sheets, moldy floors in corners of room, mold on shower head, heavy smoking by customers outside the room even though smoking is not allowed inside the room, smelly pillows, etc. I had a real concern during COVID-19 to even stay there. I paid $229.23 for this hideous room. My husband, daughter & I were afraid to take showers in the shower because everything was so unclean, and their was a strange film on the shower floor.

Complete joke

Do not use Priceline if you have the smallest issue you will be on hold for days not minutes not hours. You will be told they are not the right person let me get someone who can help with this issue and back on hold. You will do this for days before you give up. Exactly what they want.

We're from SW Ohio. We were visiting Fort Wayne In. We saw the LIBERTY DINER, so we decided to eat there. It turned out to be the BEST restaurant I have ever ate at. The food was delicious, wide selection of food. We stayed in Ft. Wayne for three days and we ate all our meals at LIBERTY DINER, it was so good. The staff was GREAT, and the OWNER (George) was the Best. I just can't say enough about this restaurant. I would give it ten stars if I could. If you're ever in Fort Wayne Indiana. Dine at this GREAT restaurant. You're going to love it

Don't bother. Second time I've used priceline to rent cars and both times they wouldn't let me pick up the car without a credit card. The credit card requirement is dumb since I already paid both times with a debit card, which every other organization on the planet will treat as a credit card. Will not use this company again. The requirement is not clear when renting either. And when I called, they said it's non-refundable, too bad for you, but we need to hang up on you to get to other customers. So I'm out $500 for no other reason than their rental policies are unclear, unrealistic and their service is god-awful. Never again.

Price Gouger
June 3, 2021

I requested that Priceline cancel my rental car or match the going rate. They refused to do so and made me pay almost double the cost because I had reserved a rental car through them. Even though they claim to have the best prices available they charged my $387 for a 2 day rental. When I tried to change it to Avis because they were charging $205 they said no. They would not match the price either.

They should rename their company Price Gouger.

Website lies

I booked this trip this morning and my sons discharge plans changed. I tried to cancel so I can book the right dates. I bought trip insurance which i was under the impression that it was trip protection not just flight. Also when booking a hotel it says right on the front page of the hotel free 24 hour cancelation. Now I'm out $85 and $20 for worthless trip insurance. What a scam you are running, allowing the hotel to say free cancelation, and not letting us know that is non-refundable until we purchase it. Also this trip was planned 44 days out so its not like it is tomorrow. Very unsatisfied everyone knows the military's plans change at the drop of a hat. How inconsiderate and unprofessional of Priceline.

We booked a car rental through Priceline/Ace Car Rental. Paid for in advance. After we booked we read all the reviews with Ace and read where many, many people got to the pick up location and there was no car available. Also, Ace made them pay up to $500 in addition to the rental for other charges such as insurance (not needed). We called Priceline and they would not help. They said the rental was non refundable. We did not want a refund we wanted the monies transferred to another car rental service through Priceline. We asked a supervisor what happens when we get to Ace and no car is available (we are both seniors and my husband has a heart condition). They said we would have to call Priceline (in the Phillipines) at approximately 8 pm and they would see what they would do, had no suggestion as to how we would be helped. Totally outrageous that the United States has to contact the Phillipines to try to work out a situation at night with no guarantees. We have since booked with Budge to guarantee a car.

I found using this service to be more trouble than it is worth. I could not make a change I needed to make, there was no accessible customer service. Lot of effort for no real advantage. Use another service and avoid Priceline

Hidden fees

The customer service is rude, when I got to the hotel I had to pay for parking which I did not know I had to pay for. Customer service told me that parking is not included in the price, I explained if I knew I had to pay for parking upfront I would of went elsewhere. Customer service was rude and said no because you already paid and we won't refund! Very rude and will NEVER use Priceline again!

Booked a car, paid 95% online, went to pick up the car, they refused my MasterCard, called Priceline and they said I cancelled the reservation and it was no refundable. I did NOT cancel, I wanted the car and they wouldn't give it to me. Customer service is less than a joke, all ESL and located in the Philippines. Kept repeating "that is not an option " in reference to my complaint. What a rip

I have used Priceline to rent a car many times and never had a problem. This time was different. When I got to rental desk there was a massive line of people waiting already and one agent. After two hours, I was still 20 people back and was in danger of missing the funeral I had come to attend. I called Priceline and they told me there was nothing they could do and couldn't cancel the reservation. I pointed out I was within the 24 hour window since the reservation had been made and they were not able to provide the service I had paid for. Still they couldn't help me. This is not the same Priceline I had dealt with in the past. They were just terrible.

Our flight was cancelled due to covid. Turkish graciously offered a refund. Priceline refuses to give the refund because we dont have the original form of payment anymore. (flight was cancelled more than a year ago and we dont have that credit card anymore). We begged for them to refund us any other way, to another card or by check and they refused. Inhumane awful service. Dont fall into using them

Before booking a flight I specifically asked the agent if I could change or cancel the reservation because of covid. The agent indicated there would be no problem. I had to change the date of the flight, and now they wont change it, indicating that It is non refundable and non changeable. Absolute liars.
Never deal with this company again.

Kiss your money good bye when you book with this agency. Their goal is to sweet talk you into putting in your credit card information online, upgrade your membership and quote you false claim about what booked. DONT EVER TRUST THEM!

The worst company to fly with. They change my flight to leave really late and fly back earlier. They charge you luggage fee to fly one way and another luggage fee to fly back I paid $80 in total. My friend got covid so she couldn't go on the trip so I changed the flight to another friend's name and their policy with frontier showed that they charged $75 dollars to do so yet they charged me $195 one way and $195 back. Mind you the ticket to just repurchase was $300. Total rip off will never use this company again.

We booked with Priceline at Royalton Riviera Cancun for a 7 night, kid friendly stay at an all inclusive resort. They offer their "Diamond Club" higher end rooms as an upcharge but its really crap. Priceline verbally guaranteed with us on the phone that for (2) adults and (2) kids the price we paid was confirmed. We called them 3 times before our trip to confirm and they still had no answer and said if the resort had a problem with it that they "Might" upcharge but that they didnt know. We arrived in Cancun at the resort and had to stay on the phone with them for over 2-1/2 hours just to try and cancel the whole booking and start over. We re booked at the resort directly and are honestly very disappointed and frustrated. Dont use Priceline and dont stay at Royalton! They both suck!

Wow I never write reviews or complain but this one deserves to be said so other people can avoid this pitfall. I normally book trips through Expedia and should've stuck with them. Priceline had some cheaper rental car options so I thought I'd give it a try, why not? On my first attempt to book a rental car ($600 total), when I clicked the "confirm my booking" link, Priceline's site popped up a box that said unfortunately the car was unavailable, please try another one, and proceeded to take me to the main page. No confirmation number, no reservation page, no email, nothing. Just boom, back to the main page. I figured the system had a glitch, and went ahead and tried booking again, and this time Priceline took me to the confirmation/itinerary page with a reservation number and everything.

About an hour later, I get 2 emails from Priceline with 2 DIFFERENT confirmation numbers. What the heck?! So I call the car rental service who says it can only be cancelled through Priceline. I then call Priceline and speak to customer service, and get transferred to a manager. She told me Priceline could ONLY cancel the 2nd reservation (the one I had all the info for...), and that there was a $120 cancellation fee. Even though I asked for an exception to waive the cancellation fee since the glitch was LITERALLY on Priceline's website, she said there was nothing she could do. So basically I thought I was saving because Priceline had some cheaper car options, but in the end I spent more time, frustrated energy, and paid for a dumb cancellation fee that shouldn't have happened. Priceline's policies are unreasonable and like other companies, they should definitely make exceptions for mistakes on their end. Needless to say I will not be booking through them again.

Tried to cancel a rental car for a trip that i had to cancel because of Covid. Long story short, Priceline says the cancellation on their site are based on agreements with the partners/vendors they have (in the case Thrifty). Pricelines site even has a link to Thrifty's site that shows the cancellations are ok and can be done. Priceline however that does not apparently have there own cancellation policy (I asked several times, they could not provide). Priceline refused to cancel the booking and show no concern for the customer.
