Scam
May 3, 2020

Scam! Beware! Company advertised hotel room for $40 once we proceeded to checkout price jumped to $60 we decided to proceed since that was still a decent rate. Upon booking I went to confirm my reservation to find out they booked to a hotel not even in the same city or town they had advertised, being shocked I went to check my bank and noticed a charge now for $87.50! Wait what? I could not believe that we fell for a bait and switch! Get on the horn to this Priceline company first agent claims they cannot cancel my reservation since the hotel already took my payment. He tells me he has tried to contact the hotel but no one is picking up I made final request to have the reservation cancelled he informed me I would have to call a number and speak with a rep, the number he gives me is an automated machine it says I have no reservation based on my reservation number so we try our phone number still does not recognize. Same recording over and over with no option for customer service, get back on chat with this guy he tells me there is nothing he can or will do since the hotel is not answering final request made to cancel he refuses to do so. I ended that chat session get on the horn with hotel, second ring a lady picks up I explain what has transpired and she tells me she's been at the desk all night noone has called, she contacts her manager but needs Priceline to contact them so I start another chat session a new guy comes on has no idea about my file so I explain it all again to him he now refuses to contact the hotel and informs me the hotel will charge me the full fee to cancel so I get back on the phone with the hotel they inform me no we never received any calls but our manager is willing to cancel your reservation no fee on our end. Go back to chat same guy says to me the hotel took your money there is no way for us to refund since we already paid them then disconnects chat I receive an email from Priceline saying to call this same automated service keep in mind we have already called 5 times in between all the other contact. We have never dealt with this company nor will we EVER AGAIN anyone should avoid at all cost they simply scam you, not only is it Bait and Switch they legit steal your money, lie their way through unfounded grounds, and simply do not provide a service.

I don't know if this is a sign of the times we are living in or if this is just a bad company, but working for them makes me feel guilty on a daily basis. They do not care about the customer. For example, sometimes customers are not able to check in to a hotel because the hotel cannot find their reservations. If the reservation was booked the same day, it can take up to 24 hours for the hotel to receive it. This sucks, but at least this scenario offers an explanation at worst. However, sometimes, this happens regardless of what date the customer booked the reservation, and when speaking to the hotel, they state that up to 80 customers experienced that same issue on the same exact night. All of these customers booked through Priceline, and the hotel was not able to find the reservations. Because they never received the reservations in the hotel system, the inventory was sold to people who booked reservations by other means. So by the time the Priceline customers get to the hotel there are no more rooms left. What infuriates me about this is that yes, the customer eventually gets their money back but ultimately their time was wasted! I understand that Priceline may not even be the one at fault here. It could be a glitch on part of the hotels. What I do not like is the lack of an explanation. When a family who traveled miles away from home is forced to sleep in their car because the hotel turned them away after midnight, I want to be able to offer an explanation as to why things like this may happen. When asking supervisors for reasons as to why nearly 100 people would be affected by something like this I was told nothing. I had a customer who is now scared to use Priceline again because of this. And this is just one of the scenarios that often makes me feel very guilty when working for this company. Sometimes the website says that rooms are available when they are not and no matter how many times the hotel calls to try and have them update the availability, it doesn't happen. At least not in a timely fashion. This wastes the precious time of the customer and gives hotels even more reasons not to affiliate themselves with Priceline. They need to be more considerate of the customers as well at the hotel properties. It's not impossible to set up a system that's win-win for everyone. The procedures they have us doing and the things they make us say to the customers are so robotic and not very comforting or assuring to say the least. It seems like in the age of the internet where losses are so easily replaced, these companies care very little about the consumer.

I booked a hotel online through Priceline. On 3/2/2018 I rented a car and drove from Ohio to Washington DC (6 hours), only to arrive at the hotel and be told that my reservations had been canceled one hour prior (@2:01p). I contacted Priceline, and Francesca told me that I had canceled them on the website- which I did not. According to my Priceline itinerary, the reservations I had made could not be changed or canceled but at 3:20p I received an email from Priceline telling me that my reservations were canceled, no cancellation number was provided. I was left standing in D. C. at the Courtyard Marriott hotel counter, with no reservations, the funds not yet back in my account, and Brenda in Pricelines customer relations telling me that they had left me a voicemail- which was another lie, because there were no unrecognized phone numbers on my phone, nor any voicemails. BEWARE OF PRICELINE, they will cancel your reservations one hour before check-in and if you're lucky they'll leave you a voicemail about it!

Rental Car Booking
February 23, 2022

I recently returned from a trip using a rental car from Miami - Orlando (2.18-20.22) when returning from a cruise on the morning of 2.18 and I am truly disappointed and feel cheated from my experience. To start I was trying to reconfirm my reservation with AVIS Rental Car via Priceline on 2.7-2.12 prior to my vacation starting on 2.12 and spoke to multiple representatives: Neil, Alex, Oscar, Henry and a supervisor Vanessa.

I was bounced around multiple people and hung up on by leadership during this time trying to reconfirm my AVIS rental via Priceline since there was nothing they could do nor find the reservation through their system, when I was told to call Priceline. Which I did from the contact provided in the confirmation I received from Priceline. Once called I was only able to connect to one person with Priceline name William who told me that there was nothing Priceline could do as well and redirected me to AVIS.

Needless to say I was not able to resolve my issue which was just to just reconfirm my rental prior to leaving for my vacation. Come the pick up time and date, I was transported to the address on the reservation email which was 309 23rd St Suite 100a Miami Beach, FL *******. Which after a half hour drive the building said AVIS but looked abandoned with all doors locked. I found an AVIS around the corner by luck with the building showing no direction to that location which was not the information that matched what I was given from Priceline.

When I got to the alternative AVIS location the desk agent for AVIS did not have any record of my reservation but found a Priceline reservation that was cancelled two weeks prior which matched my information. In which he found that the reservation was cancelled on the Priceline end. So instead of paying the $209.55 that I had agreed to pay; but had to create a completely new reservation through just AVIS at the cost of $545.79 which was a $336.24 increase to what was being anticipated just to continue with my vacation.

Will not be using Priceline again; better off going through actual rental car company.

Last week I tried to a book to go to Orlando and stay at The Swan hotel however it kept saying that the flights were sold out so I kept trying to switch the flights pay a little extra it did not matter because I was I getting the best deal however by the time I got done which was 4 hours later of trying to book my trip the price had gone up so I decided to wait until the price went down and today the price went down and I was trying to rebook from priceline and again it kept saying the flight was sold out however it was not sold out there still seats available since I looked at other sites and then I called Priceline and they said to refresh and it exit out of the page last week when this had occur I exited out and the price jumped 200 dollar. Then when i did exit out and redid all of it the price was the same thankfully however when I got through my card was decline so I called l my card company I said are you blocking my card what's going on they said no we're not declining it Priceline they are not accepting our payment. Then I called Priceline again and they said the flight is not available and I told them yes it is since other booking sites have the hotel and flights. Finally the manager I talked to said the price might be changing I told her I have been trying to book this package for 2 hours so it's not that fair I would have to pay more. Now my hotel is sold out and the flights are going up again should have booked with another site l. Would have paid a little extra but this headache and disappointment would have been avoided. I feel like this was false advertisement and they just kept denying it so they could get more money for this package.

Please take this in consideration before you purchase a ticket with Priceline. If for some reason you need to make changes to your reservation, they will charge you 3 times the price you purchased the ticket. You can buy the same ticket directly with the air line and they will have the same chip price for you. When you purchase the ticket directly with the air line they will be more flexible with you and they make changes without charging you. Priceline does not help ANY costumer they only care about money. I will NEVER buy anything true them... I lose 5 tickets but they lose a good client.

A Nightmare Travel Experience
August 6, 2023

Priceline Review:

A Nightmare Travel Experience

My family of five recently had the unfortunate experience of booking our tickets through Priceline, and it turned out to be an absolute nightmare from start to finish. The troubles began when we carefully selected our seats during the booking process, only to find out later that Priceline had failed to secure them in their system. Despite reaching out to them for confirmation, the issue persisted until just two days before our flight when the seats were still missing. Priceline's reassurance was nothing but false hope, and it became clear that they could not deliver on their promises.

As if that wasn't enough, another major issue arose when we contacted Priceline regarding our fifth family member, our child, who had somehow been left off the voucher. Priceline assured us that this wouldn't be a problem, but when we arrived at the hotel, we were shocked to find that our child wasn't on the reservation. The hotel's "solution" was to reverse the voucher and add the third person to our second room, which was completely impractical and inconvenient for our family. The most shocking part was Priceline's refusal to take responsibility for their mistake or offer any meaningful assistance. Instead, they left us to deal with the situation on our own, resulting in an additional out-of-pocket expense of $1300 USD.

Throughout this entire ordeal, dealing with Priceline was an incredibly frustrating and unpleasant experience. Their lack of accountability and failure to address the issues they caused left us feeling like we were on our own to navigate the mess they had created. As a customer, I expected better service and support from a reputable travel booking platform like Priceline, but they fell far short of meeting even the most basic expectations.

In conclusion, I strongly advise others to be cautious when considering Priceline for their travel arrangements. Our family's experience serves as a warning that their customer service and reliability are severely lacking. It's essential to be aware of the potential risks and be prepared to handle any unforeseen problems that may arise if you choose to book through Priceline. Based on our terrible encounter, I cannot recommend using Priceline and would advise exploring alternative options to ensure a smoother and stress-free travel experience for your family.

Anniversary ruined
August 1, 2015

Sharing what I sent to corporate with 0 response from them:
My fiancé and I were trying to celebrate our anniversary in Atlantic city. We booked a room a month in advance under his name. We got an email at noon saying our credit card wasnt working so we updated the payment method at 2:22pm. We blew a tire 10 minutes from the hotel, called the hotel to let them know our situation, they assured us it was okay. Then 20 minutes later, they call us to tell us they are canceling our reservation due to not having a valid credit card on file by 6pm and then he hung up on me. I don't care about Priceline telling me it is the hotel's fault. I work in a call center and one of the sacred rules is to accept ownership of whatever the customer is calling about. Except when I called Priceline/Booking, they told me that it wasn't their fault and no one offered to reaccommodate us. They instead sent us an email of an available room elsewhere more than double the cost. We were hundreds of miles from home with nowhere to stay. We then found another place on Priceline under my name. We were able to book, but when we showed up, the clerk said there were no vacancies. He did not offer any alternative at all. Just said it was impossible that I could have made the reservation when there were no rooms available. Needless to say, we were panicking. The worst of it all is that I WAS STILL CHARGED FOR THE ROOM, which left me with no money for the remainder of the trip. We had to stay in a sketchy motel with bedbugs. I need Priceline to make up for this. This was the most terrifying and devastating weekend of my life. It was supposed to be a celebration of love with my future husband. I will continue to reach out to Priceline, and make myself heard until someone makes up for this tragic weekend. 20% isn't going to cut it. Your escalation team refused to help me. They left me with no choice but to take some deal that was useless to me during the weekend since they couldn't find other accommodations for me either. If I don't hear anything back after pouring my heart out, I will share my experience with the world so that maybe I can save someone else from the devastation that my fiancé and I had to endure. Thank you.

I made a car reservation and never received confirmation details. I called Priceline the week of my trip to obtain the details for my reservation such as where and when to pick up the car. The man on the phone was incredibly rude (I thought he was having a bad day, but no they're all like that), and he refused to honor my reservation. He literally canceled my reservation and then also refused to give me a car rental for a different date or a refund. He instructed me to do a chargeback through my credit card and hung up on me. Months later, Priceline is disputing the claim with fraudulent and false information. They reported that I asked to cancel the reservation, which is untrue, I had to rent a car from somewhere else because they wouldn't honor my reservation. They also requested that I submit the rental agreement or invoice I received at the time of making the reservation, which is a joke because they know they didn't send me anything. Turns out, Priceline doesn't have the rental agreement or invoice either. Priceline submitted a screenshot of a website page where they entered in information to make up the details of a car rental at my same price, but they're idiots because the screenshot says at the top "Almost done! Enter your details and complete your booking now." It isn't even a screenshot of my car rental, it's all fabricated. I can't get my money back because they keep submitting fake and fraudulent info, numerous examples beyond the one above, and they scammed me out of $244.69. I called Priceline back and the man was just as rude as the last time I had to speak with a representative over there. He told me that I was basically a fool for filing a dispute because now I will never get a refund and that he refuses to give me documentation regarding the cancelation because it can be submitted to help my claim. He also hung up on me. Do everything you can to avoid this company at all costs. There are plenty of cheap car rental, travel agency, etc. services out there that won't scam you and steal your money. Go with anyone but Priceline.

NEVER USE PRICELINE or BEWARE of their fraudulent tactics. I searched on Priceline for an all-inclusive resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico and in my search I was very clear in my search that I wanted rooms for 2 adults and the results came back and each room showed that it slept 2. However, watch out they won't tell you until you "buy" that they are only giving you the room at the advertised price for 1 person with the little disclaimer that "hotel may charge a fee for additional persons." The hotel can charge whatever amount they want and they will not disclose that to you. I immediately called Priceline to complain about the switch that they pulled and they would not refund me or speak with me about it. BEWARE of the NON-REFUNDABLE language all over their siteif they were offering a legitimate service for a good value WHY DO THEY NEED TO MAKE IT NON-REFUNDABLE? Priceline told me to call the hotel and so I did. However, the hotel told me that 2 people come with every room so I figured we were ok. Well, I'm here in Mexico now with my family with 3 rooms and the hotel was going to throw me out unless I paid $2,200 more for my additional 2 people that came with us. I WILL NEVER USE PRICELINE AGAIN NOR STAY AT ONE OF THESE CONNECTED ALL-INCLUSIVE RIP OFF RESORTS. PLEASE DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE WITH YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. By the way, we are staying at the Occidental Xcaret All-Inclusive Resort in Playa del Carmen and the hotel sucks and the management is in co-hoots with Priceline because they say there is nothing they can do about our purchase through Priceline. This is very similar to the TimeShare SCAM if you have ever heard about that... it's a shame folks can earn a living the honest way anymore.

On September 15,2010, I used Priceline.com to book a hotel room. My hotel receipt was for $121.55. Priceline charged my credit card $151.26. I entered into agreement with Priceline to provide a hotel for the "BE$T PRICE GUARANTEED". Priceline not only failed to meet their guarantee, but they also proceeded to charge me more than the actual cost of the hotel. I was traveling on business and turned-in my expense statement using the hotel receipt. I just received my credit card statement showing Priceline charged my more than the cost of the hotel room and it is now too late modify my expense statement and recover my costs. I called Priceline's Customer Service and explained the situation and was told they could not refund the difference because I had agreed to the price. I explained I agreed to the price based on Priceline's guarantee. Priceline failed to provide the services I paid for, which is a guarantee I can't get the room for less. If Priceline does not fulfill their advertised guarantee, I will spend a great deal of my spare time posting this story online and in many, many service reviews on Priceline.

Here is Priceline's response:
Thank you for taking the time to send us an e-mail. We understand that you have been charged more by us than the hotel for your reservation at the Best Western Grand Canyon Squire Inn and would like to receive the difference in rates according to our Best Price Guarantee.

We apologize; however, your claim for the Priceline Best Price Guarantee can not be accepted.

In order to qualify for the Priceline Best Price Guarantee, we require that you contact us within 24 hours of purchase and prior check-in. The reason we ask you to do this is because prices are constantly changing, and it's important that we have the ability to compare pre-check-in pricing.

You can review our guarantees on our website at www.priceline.com.
Please click on the Help link at the top of our home page and enter the word "Guarantee" as a search topic.

We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you find this information helpful.

Sincerely,

Amit L.
Customer Service Specialist

If I would have received my credit card bill within the 24 hour window, I could have responded, but from responses I've received from Priceline so far, it would not have made any difference.

I have been a faithful priceline customer since 2002 and just had a horrible experience with them. My daughter was in a basket ball tournament in Santa Cruz and I needed a hotel room. Iused priceline and requested a room for 4 people. I have 2 small children. I got to the hotel after the first day tournament at 10:00pm and checked in. I went to the room and say only 1 bed. I went back to the counter and told them I needed 2 beds. They said priceline only reserved me for double occupancy, and she did not have any more rooms. She told me to call priceline since they already charged my card to cancel and that she would just rent the room to another customer. I called priceline and spoke with a representative and he said he needed to speak to the hotel. I walked back into the hotel and put him on speakerphone. The receptionist told him it was fine to cancel. The representative then said that I would need to call in the morning because the refund department was closed. He gave me a case# and said I would get a refund in the morning. I went to another hotel down the street and got another room. I paid $140 for the first room and $170 for the second room. I was on a low budget already and this really put a damper on my weekend. When I called priceline back the next day they transferred me to a manager who said I was not getting a refund because I had checked into the room. I explained to him that I did not know it was 1 bed until I got to the room but that I did not use the room. He would not take my case# and basically said too bad. I am out $140 because of this and am very upset. If I thought for one second that they were not going to reinburse me I would never had got another room, I would have just slept on the floor or something. I will never use them again and you should not either. They have terrible customer service.

I booked a room for Comfort Suites Murfreesboro TN. When my family and I showed up to the hotel at 1230am we where told there was a problem with the computer system and the room that was showing as available was actually under renovation, and we were not the only people this had happened to. This town had most all of the hotel rooms booked, took another 30mins very late at night to find a room for my husband and 2 young children. I was told by the hotel attendant that I would not be charged until he took my card which he did not. I checked the next day and noticed I was charged for the room on my account. I called the original number I had on my email, then I was transferred 3 times, had to give a different number each time, then was transferred to an out- sourced customer service rep I could hardly understand due to a thick accent, when I spoke to the specialist with Agoda after 35 minutes of waiting and being transferred, he wanted a different number he told me I could find it on the email that was sent, I was traveling talking on my cell phone and could not look at my email and talk on the phone at the same time, he told me to call back when I had the number. Really? So I now have to hang up find the number you want, call back and wait another 20-30 minutes or more to talk to a person to get these charges reversed. I requested a supervisor multiple times he would not let me talk to anyone else. Luckily I was able to find the correct number from the 3 numbers that I found on the email I had wrote down. I did get the charges removed and an offer for a hotel room in the same state. But, I was not vacationing in that state nor do I live in that state. I will never use the "free night". I will never use this site or any other site like this in the future. I feel this was all very inconvenient and received little compensation for the company and hotel's mistake. I was also so dissatisfied with the customer service. After this happened I now find multiple reviews complaining of the same sort of treatment.
