I can only reiterate all the other 1-star reviews. They take your money, then feed you a load of baloney via automatic update emails about when you'll get your child's sports kit and THEN they ignore it, don't send it when they say they will and then the real fun begins. They do not respond, not to phone messages, emails, FB posts or Twitter. When you do get a response, finally after DAYS of chasing, they don't know how to apologise and don't send you everything you asked for. This is the most atrociously run company I've had to deal with, possibly ever. I have written to their Chairman, Director of Sales and Head of Marketing and Communications expressing my disgust with their so called *customer service*. I spent most of today trying to goad a reaction from them on Twitter using the hashtag PlayerLiar and still no response. UnderArmour must be nuts to risk diluting their brand with them.
Unfortunately PlayerLayer are the suppliers for my children's school sports uniform. I wish they were not. This is possibly the WORST company I have EVER dealt with. They just don't respond - and I'm still waiting for my order. As others have said, they never have the right size in stock; they don't care if an order doesn't turn up... and no one ever calls back; and their postage is very expensive. The customer gets zero opportunity to engage them as even their comments sections are switched off on their social media feeds... presumably because of all the very unhappy customers. I will be taking this up with my school AND will be writing to the PlayerLayer chairman... although if his company is anything to judge him by, I doubt he will care one iota. If you don't HAVE to deal with this company, then I strongly advise you look elsewhere for sports kit.
My son's school use them for their sports kit. They never have the sizes in stock, don't provide an opportunity to trial size and provide no facility for free exchange in case ordered size is incorrect. I had to pay £4.99 delivery fee each time! Customer service is pathetic.
Cannot manufacture to any sort of deadline/ have let our organisation down countless times/ do not have the ability to communicate between their staff/ have no understanding of different sporting requirements and simple requests/ wholly disorganised and disreputable.
Ordered a stock item for my son's Christmas present. Over a month later and after several promises of calls back and dispatch dates, the item has still not been dispatched. You cannot speak with anyone because their customer service department don't answer the phone - it diverts to an answering service that is nothing to do with them. I have been promised calls back from them five times and never had a call. Unless you are prepared to wait for more than a month, don't bother.
Waited over a month for the order and only received it after calling and complaining several times. Once the order had arrived it came without being personalised which was clearly stated in the order... trying now to be refunded for the personalisation cost and shipping but not hearing anything after calling 3 times over the last week!
I would definitely Not recommend you use this company..
Ordered and they said it would take two weeks for delivery. Two weeks came and went. I called customer services and left a few messages - as you can never get through. They never returned my call. I emailed and still no response. Finally a month later the stuff arrived - the term ends in a few days so much for that. As it is for a growing 7 year old we have lost a large part of the potential use of the item. To top it all it is hideously overpriced. The school said we had to use them. I am going to make my experience known. I would never deal with them again if I could help it. AVOID! No idea about customer service happy to charge a fortune and not send your stuff!
I am an exchange student from the States, Studying at a University playing volleyball. In order to have sports wear for season we ordered from PlayerLayer. I ordered my Uni wear in at the beginning of October. It is now a month and a half later, volleyball season is almost over, and I have not received any of my order.
I called to talk to someone about my order to make sure nothing went wrong. I got on the phone with Ann who was extremely rude. I also had to constantly repeat myself because she could not get my phone number, name, email, or order number correct. Repeating myself as A for Ann J for Jack and so on. I have never had a more frustrating conversation.
Customer service is atrocious
No items in stock (basic school uniform)
No refund received after returning item 2 weeks ago
Order still not received after waiting 3 weeks
AVOID AVOID AVOID
Another school year, still waiting for this years overpriced tat from Playerlayer to arrive amidst a string of feeble excuses.
This company are the worst I have ever encountered and dealing with them annoys me. Address complaints to Barbara Hunter - she seems to enjoy trotting out a load of bull, I've certainly received quite a few emails full of it!
After writing a previous review last September, I am still awaiting new starters kit, they've now done a full academic year with no PE kit! Absolute joke!
What an absolute pile of rubbish this company is. At RGS Worcester we were forced to purchase this tat. Ordered 6 weeks ago and not delivered on time for start of school, what has turned up is wrong size to what we ordered and the quality is shocking. Nylon and polyester, cheap print and covered in the PlayerLayer branding. Tried to call customer services - not helpful at all. Now I know the school get a financial kick back but the price is horrific and as this is for a private school personally I feel I am paying enough already so I'm very disappointed they feel it necessary to find another revenue stream. I'd rather have the school shop in Worcester back please.
Our University appointed PlayerLayer as the exclusive supplier of sports kit for 2014 onwards. Previously we had a mixture of other brands, the service was poor as was the look.
I have to say PlayerLayer have been outstanding, both in the look of the range we have and the service I have received (5 days from order placement date to delivery).
Thank you PL!
Harriet
If you like jeopardising your money, but dont like going to a casino*, and if you like being entertained by ridiculous excuses to explain continuous non-delivery, this should be your new place to shop. However, if you are looking for a reliable, reasonably quick delivery: DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING HERE!
Since our initial order of rowing gear, our colleges boat club has now waited for more than 12 months (yes, months!) to get an acceptable delivery of the items we had ordered. Approximately four months after our initial order, we received a first delivery from PlayerLayer. However, items sizes were allover the place and the fabrics quality was not acceptable for rowing gear. Especially the unisuits we received were in general far too small (i. E. smaller than the sizing chart would suggest), not tailored to rowers needs (with shoulders and upper bodies being far too narrow), and not stretching at all (in fact, they used rather thick fabric with no stretch like in the pre-1980s). Other pieces (such as rain jackets and hoodies) were, in contrast, far to big and could not be worn either. Responding to our complaints, PlayerLayer agreed to accept a return and exchange of the faulty items and also reimbursed us partly for the late delivery.
The company also stated that it would be quicker to send exchange items (within 10 weeks maximum), if we demanded them. Therefore, some of us decided in May to give them a second chance. NOT A GOOD CHOICE!
Since then, i. E. for the last seven months (!), only two items (!) were delivered. Other than that, the company refrains from giving any further delivery dates. Instead, they claim that they are chasing their suppliers, which themselves cannot give any dates for the delivery. It goes without saying that PlayerLayer is also not responding to requests of people demanding money back. Of course, people have left school in the meantime and can, most likely, no longer make use of their items - if they remember their long-lost order at all.
In sum thus, PlayerLayers service is more than sketchy and does neither live up to its own standards (by constantly missing their self-defined delivery deadlines) nor to the standards of acceptable delivery times of today (which, in my opinion, shouldnt be longer than 3 months even for personalised items). Anything I can recommend is to stay away from this company. I am very surprised that they are still in business since other reviews indicate the same problems over and over again (just google PlayerLayer reviews).
* Caution: Winning chances at PlayerPayer are between a casino and the national lottery
These included unforeseeable circumstances such as Chinese New Year to explain several months of delayed delivery.
My daughters size 10 T shirt turned out to be closer to a size 14 but labelled as size 10. To return it and two reminder calls later, they managed to send me a correct replacement size. This company is dismal & not fit for purpose. Whatever processed Ratcliffe College to use Player Layer is beyond me and many other parents.
On Returns, they refund order values - thus you end up having to reorder on-line and play another delivery charge.
I would have preferred to deal with a shop.
My son's school awarded the contract for school sports kit supply to PlayerLayer in 2012 and for both of the following years we have very disappointed with their performance. They insist that orders are placed and paid for mid-June for a September delivery (what online supplier today declares such a shocking turnaround time) which gives no time to try on and return before term starts. Last year they even failed to meet their delivery date and were forced to visit school and address the many frustrated parents. This year their sizing was wildly inaccurate, again leaving children to start term without kit. Many families at the school have been let down by PlayerLayer's dismal service. They have never apologised, and I still wait for them to return the calls and emails sent last year and this year.
