It used to be so different but since last year when pinterest stopped letting people like pins and changed the demographic of pinners shown, things have gone downhill fast.
Firstly the quality of the pins are often mediocre, boring and repetitive plus the pins are now often blocked or lead to spam and I know pinterest wanted to move away from the social media side of things that's why they removed the like button but the likes helped to keep genuine content in the feed.
What's happening now is that there's also more men from all over the world on the site which is good but sadly some are there trying to turn it into a porn site, maybe because porn isn't easily accessible in all countries?. The comments page is sometimes used for this along with blatant self promotion. Customs, culture and style varies greatly even between neighbouring countries please don't lump us all together you've alienated some of your original supporters from your site.
Also because I'm in the UK a lot of my content is now from Europe seriously it doesn't work. When my content was UK and US based the views and general consensus of pins was the same. But now that far flung places are deemed as being the same because they're in the northern hemisphere I sometimes get at best irrelevant pins, uneducated pins, mocking poking fun, soft porn or just downright cruel especially when it comes to animals.
Yesterday I had to comment on a pin from eastern Europe a pin that had a ton of likes and comments. They were congratulating him on goldfish that had all been encased while still alive in resin to make... a coffee table. Sadly this type of pin isn't unusual since pinterest opened up.
Pinterest I'm off really soon.
I have noticed that it is becoming very political (both sides). And it seems like every3 pins I go to are no longer there; or even nothing to do with what was pictured.
Getting to big. Will DELETE soon I am sure
Pinterest is one of those super-annoying companies like Facebook, that deserve to fail because of their disdain for their users. Also (1) continuous junk email about pictures (2) they obviously use crappy algorithms (3) forces you to sign up to use (4) floods all google image search applications with their pictures which you cant properly explore unless you sign up and you don't want to sign up as they are obviously a $#*! company
You cannot ID a pin on your feed unless you open. Is it one of their numerous ads or from your favorite pinners? And the 3 dots don't show up to act on the pin. Another greedy sneaky motive to up the # of "hits" to report to Pinterest advertisers. Their subscribers are just useful idiots to them
When searching for random keywords, guess what. There's Pinterest with an irrelevant link to a page which you can't even view because you're not logged in. It is simply the most annoying website that I know.
I do not like the newest version. At all. Super boring and hard to navigate. The image is now half the screen, with the other half for info. Pinterest is eye candy. Yes, I knew to scroll down when I needed more information. So many changes over the years, not always good, but this latest one is a deal breaker.
Someone in the development should really look into how bad their ad policy is. I keep getting irrelevant ads for Chinese suppliers, things that I am not interested in at all, and most annoyingly underwear - which makes it totally inappropriate and unusable at work! If it at the very least used all the info they have on me and suggested me promoted link that are similar to what I've pinned, it would be bearable. Still use it with adblocks, because I like the idea behind the website and having all the visual inspiration in one place.
I initially loved Pinterest as I followed likeminded pinners. Lately thats all changed, if I go to my home page its a mishmash of Images and articles which do not even remotely relate to what I am pinning. Its a landmind of crap and if it doesnt improve I will no longer be using this app.
They send emails which are absolute lies. I am interested in knitting and crochet patterns. Today they send me an email with a free mouse knitting pattern. Click on it and you go through to a site that doesnt have any free mouse patterns. This happens continually and I will not be using Pinterest again. They do not reply to any communication. I think their site is out of control.
I do not understand why developer created this app! App is too cloggy and super complicated! Where is the simplicity?
Useless App!
Things are disappearing from my boards. Then when I go to search them it says it's saved to my board - but I've scoured it up and down three times over and I know it's not there! If I try to save something to a board from a different site, I get the spinning pinwheel of death. I'll leave it up for about 30 minutes trying to decide if it wants to save it or not, and then end up just closing it out of sheer frustration. Guess I didn't need that recipe that bad, right? Lastly I understand needing ads, I'm a marketer myself. However, when it overtakes my feed and there's no content I originally wanted there, it's not doing your consumers any good. The whole point of Pinterest is seeing content you want, not what others decide you want.
I wanted to see what it may cost to run an ad with them and it enrolled me in advertising. It charged me about $300 until I was notified and we didn't even get ONE new customer during that time.
I tried working with the customer service to take the charges off and they would no help at all. Never again.
I have gotten many excellent ideas from this site and Ive posted ideas as well. I love every minute I spend on this site.
My wife subscribed to this website a few years ago and soon decided the content was of no interest to her. In the past three years we have sent numerous "unsubscribe" notifications to Pinterest which have had no effect whatsoever in stopping or even limiting the number of spam emails we receive from them. We have blocked their email address and sender domain several times but each time they switch to a different one and the spam continues. How desperate is this company to maintain a subscription list that subscribers must retain legal counsel to get off of their mailing list? Be aware that if you subscribe to this website they are virtually impossible to get rid of.
Pathetic!
This used to be one of my favorite places for inspiration, and now my homepage is FILLED with ads. It feels like every other pin in promoted. I spend more time turning them off than I do actually enjoying the things that are posted by followers I admire. The whole point of Pinterest has been diluted. Instead of it being a curated feed of things I love, it's turned into a wall of ALL THE BANNER ADS ON THE INTERNET.
Pinterest, I don't $#*!ing care what Disney princess I am or what are the 5 ways to cut costs on a wedding (idiots, I don't plan on getting married, please reconfigure your algorithms). Stop showing me clothing I would never wear (I don't want a sweatshirt with a bible quote on it) or products I would ever use (what the $#*! is BarkThin?). You've sold yourselves out to any advertiser that will throw cash your way, and you've forsaken your users in the process. Learn how to create a business model that doesn't $#*! on your users. I don't see a future with your company if you carry on this way.
Every new account I make is immediately suspended. The first time I clicked on the email they sent so they could check it out. I'd only had a chance to pin one quote about being valuable and they kicked me out. It's been a couple of weeks and still no one has gotten back to me so I decided to create a new account thinking maybe that didn't go through and again immediately after I pinned a quote and a picture that wasn't anything against their guidelines they suspended that account except this time when I was sent the email and tried to click on it, it said access to their site was denied. So, I've signed up to iheartit.com thinking Pinterest has been hacked or something.
I have been with Pinterest for a year and worked hard on my boards about my life and things a would want to and accomplish. My account has been suspended and I took account of the policies and tried my best to make sure I was in guide lines. They nail in the coffin was last pin I know I did not pin. I have been suspicious about some pins that where inappropriate and some I have never seen. There are peoples board that a dedicated to porn nudity both men an women. But unfortunately I did report them as someone did to me? On a privat for my eyes only board In no way shape or form where my boards inappropriate. All I have planned for my family and future its pretty much dead, thanks so much for ruining my life and time. I just wanted account back. There is never a thing as being to careful. RUINED
Horrible layout... short on info, big on ads. Not even recognizable as the app I used to LOVE. WIll have to find somewhere else to go for the info and ideas I used to get there. Boo!
Reporting single pins is not enough, stop letting these jerks put up nasty pornography on your site!
Hi, it's not fun anymore, too many adds now, I can't see my follower like I did in the beginning they use to be on the main page now I have to go to my own boards now to go to there boards. Also I can't move my own boards anymore, who are these changes benefiting not the customers because I see all the complaints, I want to move my own boards and I should be able to. The help center is not a help center at all. And when they delate a pin they don't always show it which one it was which I think is rude. Well good luck Pinners.
Answer: I warned everyone about what a piece of crap pinterest is and now their true colors are showing. #PinterestSucks
Answer: I was sent a message on May 29th alerting me of my suspension, with no explanation, only that they would be sending an email explaining why. I sent an email to their help desk explaining I was a long time member with thousands of posts, none of which I considered to be against their policy. They acknowledged my email and said I'd get a reply shortly. I have not heard back nor do I expect to. This is not the first time this has happened and I have learned my lesson. They have no regard for their members and their customer service is nonexistent. Never again!
