I would have rated this company a zero but that wasn't an option. I've used photobucket for years and never had a problem until they upgraded their terms a while ago neglecting to inform users that what was once a free forum to access pictures uploaded to photobucket would now require a $399 annual fee. I may have lost some of my pictures but I refuse to pay this absolutely ludaccrious fee to this capitalistic scumbag of a company.
I'm going to start with my most recent experience and work backwards; months after reaching out via email and having my account permanently deleted, they are now sending me emails about my (non-existent) account being over the storage limit and how I need to pay them to access my own photos. After having been a legitimate free service for many years, functionality began steadily declining at some point in the mid-late 2010's. Ads made it virtually unusable, and they got rid of a feature that allowed you to download multiple photos from your account to your device. A year or two ago, they notified long-time users who joined at a time where the storage limit for accounts was quite high that they were reducing the storage limit to 250 photos and users would have to download their photos before a certain date before they would delete photos that exceeded the storage limit. These crooks conveniently waited until after removing user's access to their own photos to reintroduce the multi-download feature. Many users complained in comments on ther Facebook ads that they had paid the ransom but still hadn't gotten all of their photos back, at least one of which their team responded to with a snide remark. They have also been hiding hundreds of comments speaking out against them on their posts. Fortunately for me, I took the time to go through my thousands of photos one by one and save them all individually, so I had no problem telling them to delete my account (they make that difficult too - there's no link to delete your account, you have to reach out via email and it took them nearly a month to confirm that my account was permanently removed). However, now they're back in my inbox still trying to extort me for money.
Web site is crap. Can't download photos and they continue to charge you even after you cancel service! Scammers!
I have a large personal website and used Photobuckets 'Pro' paid plan to display a thumb on my website and then if a site visitor wanted to view a higher resolution photos. All they had to do was click it. Like here on earth after last century (2000's).
I only update the site with 1 massive update per year. And went to update it and was shocked! To find thet ALL of my photos had been reduced in size WITH oooohhhh by the way. A new photobucket introduced file-name!
If you want your photos fcuked with... by all mean. Choose Photobucket!
This was my first time using photobucket. The worst worst experience ever. I would not use them ever nor I would I recommend them to anyone. I placed my order on Dec 10 and it stated guaranteed delivery 12/23 if your order is placed before 12/11. I then received a confirmation email and an email stating my shipment was on its way with one tracking number for both items. I received one of my items on time as guaranteed, however the second item didn't arrive.
Then I find out that photobucket only has an email method for customer service inquiries, you cannot speak to anyone. The customer service was horrible, it was pathetic and not helpful at all. This is the response I got from several personnel "we are sorry" "unfortunately delays happen"?
They then sent me a completely different tracking number after that for the item that didn't arrive and when I track it, for 5 days it's been in transit in Denver? I sent photobucket pictures and attachments with the whole guaranteed delivery note on their website when I made the purchase, no one addressed that. All I got was "sorry"
They are very misleading, poor customer feedback and service and the worst part you can't even speak to anyone, it's like they hide behind email communication. I would have rated them a zero if I could, they don't even deserve a 1 star. It's also time consuming placing the order because of all the pop up ads and delays with uploading and the page freezes the pop ups are so annoying just like the customer service.
They suck period.
Please for the love of god don't sign up with Photobucket. Their ap on your phone will automatically delete photos from your phone! When you ask for you own property back, they tell you you can get them back if you download them 1 image at a time. WORST COMPANY EVER! I lost an entire YEARS worth of photos because of this crappy company. PLEASE, PLEASE don't do business with these crooks!
I can genuinely understand that hosting images costs a huge amount in money and resources, and with so many people using ad-blockers, it's only a matter of time before there is no free image hosting left. However, the way they have gone about changing their policy is disgusting.
Oh yes, you can host images, with them, but if you want to show these images around the internet, i. E. forums, blogs etc., then you now have to pay a ridiculous amount of money to do this. Most people cannot afford to pay so much, and because of this, thousands of websites now appear 'broken' and ugly, and no matter how much they claim that we all had notice of this change, I can't find anyone, including myself, that actually received this notice.
PhotoBucket was always my image host of choice, and I had a feeling that they would change to pay only, but as I was an ad-free member, I didn't think this would affect me. Wrong! My images will only be available for third-party hosting until next year, so all the money and loyalty they've had from me over the years appear to mean very little to them.
The only saving grace is that I will have time to download my images and replace them wherever I have them posted, but this is time-consuming and irritating.
When my images go, so will I!
After using them to post in multiple forums hundreds of images, they have suddenly locked the door and demanded $400 for the key. Screw them!
Major inconvenience but they can and will be replaced.
Ordered prints 3 weeks ago for my aunt in nursing home. Still waiting. They responded to my concern by telling.me to contact them again in 14 days if I had not received them. HORRIBLE.
Unless you got dooped into paying $400 A YEAR, NOTHING works except the intrusive advertisements and pop ups I have tried several times since they pulled that scam to download and migrate to a better company... I tried using Firefox, IE, Chrome... I might even try other things to get my pictures BACK... that they are currently holding hostage.
If you are not one of these idiots who rate Photo Bucket more than one star, read this: I think it is a good idea to bring a lawsuit against these morons who own the site!
The once respected PhotoBucket has betrayed millions. Photobucket used to be free but now charges users $400 for access to their images. Images not extorted are broken. Despicable.
A full collection (several thousand photographs) have disappeared from my 'Photobucket Pages'
To date all I am receiving to e-mails are 'Robotic Replies' I really would appreciate a response and of course my photographs being returned.
I had PB yrs ago. Just an idea to get back. So its a pay site now so I paid my subscription 4 days ago and PB took my money but cannot get any photos to upload. 90% is all it will go. This sucks!
I was a customer of their free site when they froze my account because it was at 101% first partly so I could not add any more photos unless I paid, which was okay with me, as I am unemployed but I know that better service comes at a price, but suddenly, last week, they said my account was at 143% and fully froze it. When I inquired about it, they went over all my content and said because I had posted content that was"offensive", I was BANNED! That on top of not answering my question and taking down ALL of my content of which some I needed to save because they had my only copy!
The only image I hosted on PB was my WORK email signature graphic. How embarrassing for me and my business to have a huge UPGRADE YOUR ACCOUNT gray grapbic replace my graphic designed graphic with no warning. I can fix that for mere $400. GTH
Like thousands of other people, I have been using Photobucket for years (since 2006) and recently received a notice from them that I could no longer use their site for 3rd party hosting. While I don't like or agree with this policy change, I understood they had a right to do it. What was unethical about this decision is that Photobucket not only removed my photos from many of my 254 eBay items in my eBay store(they were in the middle of removing all of them), they went into my eBay listing template and removed the photo reference info so that I could not find the photos in my Documents list. This made it extremely difficult for me to change the listing on my items (so as not to use Photobucket at all). While I can understand removing the photo, I think what they did in removing the photo reference (like "img 208") was mean spirited and unethical. I advise everyone to stay away from Photobucket since you cannot trust what they will do; I hope reviews like this one exposing what they are really like will keep people from being harmed by this unethical company.
I attached a photo of three people to be made into canvas print for my son's grandparents for Christmas. When you attach a photo you must click on it to ooen it to see the full photo. Photobucket did not do that, they say they, had sent me two emails to review and approve photo however I never recieved them. I did get an email at 430 am one morning saying they were pushing thru with printing. The photo attached due to not hearing back from me. I open it and there looks to be two, separate emails that, we're sent to me previously that I STILL have not found in my inbox other than, attached to this email. The photo is a partial photo with half my son in it. I desperately start emailing them back and customer service several times to get an email saying sorry we tried to contact you we can not stop production. I pleaded in several more emails that all they had to do is open the attachment of the photo I sent. I don't understand who would push, a print thru with a partial person in it? WHY WOULD Anyone want that? Why would I have to explain opening up an, attachment properly to an online photo center? I asked them to do the right thing and send the full photo. I finally got a number from my bank to call and it goes, right to voice mail nobody, ever answers or returns your call. I just got a few emails saying sorry, there isn't anything we can do. I just threw money, away because NOBODY wants a print of a partial person! I'm so upset and disappointed in the lack of quality and concern from photobucket. I will never use, them again. They should just make it right and, send the, full photo.
Answer: Pay to keep your photos there or lose 2/3 of them, Taken away the option of bulk download which means download 1 photo at a time of 1000's of photos and do it before photobucket deletes them all because rule changes put you over their new limit. Extortion.
Answer: Because it does. They make you click around madly to get out of the "pay us money" options just to get to your library, and then they force ads... 19 of them per page... and won't allow mass downloads.
Answer: I don't recommend using the mobile site, as phones (especially Apple), adblockers don't work and still flood up your screen. My worse experience is the m@ms ads that take over the screen and reappears every time you refresh or go to another page. TV commercials is better than this.
Photobucket has a rating of 1.2 stars from 211 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Photobucket most frequently mention 3rd party, customer service and free account. Photobucket ranks 88th among Photo Sharing sites.
