Signed up for email so on my next order could receive free shipping. When putting in an order I put in the discount code for free shipping and it stated I needed to order $40. Worth of merchandise, which I had not. However, when I gave my email address, the $40 was not explained. I went ahead anyway and place my ordered and was shocked that they charged over $6 shipping for three packets of seeds to Arizona! What a rip off. Seeds don't weigh anything and how long does it take to place 3 packets in an envelop and mail.
Never again will I order from them.
BEWARE
Where other companies will go out of their way to keep your business for any inconvenience, this is NOT the case with Park Seed! They simply did not care and would charge a 20% restocking charge to return what was an incomplete order and 10 seed packets. Really? I would also pay shipping to return the order, even though I paid shipping on a $70 order. I wish I read all the reviews on Park Seed before giving them a try. Now I'm concerned about a low germination rate!
Ordered gift card on 11/25/16. My credit card was charged on 11/29/16. I called on 12/7/16 was told should get next week. Called again 12/14/16 was told would go out soon and would have by Christmas. All this after waiting for 1 1/2 hours for representative to come on the line (listened to their recording for that long). Buyer beware.
Parkseed.com is a terrific site if you're interested in growing flowers, fruits and vegetables. Their selection is TOPS and you can order a FREE CATALOG on the website (which they mail to you), as well as browse their eCatalog. You may also sign up for their newsletter and email updates about sales and gardening tips and advice.
Their service is terrific and prices are excellent as well. So if you're interested in any type of gardening this is a great resource. I highly recommend them!
I ordered several different seeds from Park Seeds thinking that I might have better luck with a specialized seed company rather than buying my seeds at Lowes or HD. Also, I wanted seeds that were wilt (particularly Fusarium) resistant. We baby our seeds starting them with the best soil indoors with a heated grow light, and we've always had good luck, until now. Many of our seeds did not sprout, and the San Marzano looks dreadful. I'm less than impressed but not enough to complain to Park Seed. I just won't use them anymore.
Shipping was pretty slow from these folks and I ordered from 6-8 of them.
Seed counts are smaller than others (Johnny's, Seed Savers Exchange, Harris). They don't seem to offer much that cannot be found in other sites.
I DO like their growing systems (first year trying), but I'll let you know how successful the plants are.
All and all, I would not use them again unless I was in a pinch.
Very disappointed in customer service
Do not order from them. My plant died in 4 weeks they said wait until spring if it doesn't come back they will replace it. I've sent three emails with no response. I was going to buy three more plants if they
Made this right. I will never order from them again
Bought two clematis plants from Park Seed last year. Both died. When I called to have them replaced, I was told that the guarantee was only good for 90 days. Advice: do not buy any plants from them. Many other mail order companies - Breck's, Michigan Bulb - have full year or longer guarantees, as do local/national nurseries such as Home Depot & Lowe's.
I wert on line and ordered seeds and potted plants from Park Seed, several hundred dollars worth. Seeds arrives, no sigh of potted plants. A month later, went on a 5 week vacation. Upon returning discovered a box with 6 dead plants on my front porch. At first when I contacted then, a replacement was offered as they were still 'under warranty', but no return call as promised. When I called back I was told no replacement as they had emailed me of the delivery. I said I did not get an email. I was told it was my fault because I should have checked my SPAM folder. I asked the man just how often HE checks HIS span. The day before, I deleted 698 spams. Anyway, No luck, no plants. Stay away Park Seed Co.! RK, Glen Saint Mary, FL
Ordered 7 packets of seeds, most on sale, entered a promo code good for "15% off any order" - simple enough. Was charged full price minus 15% percent so $6 more than the sale price. I would have been happy with the sale prices, I was even okay with $6.95 shipping, but to bump the prices to full price and then take off the 15% is so dishonest and smarmy. The promo code should state "off full price" if that is the case. I called to cancel the order and was told I couldn't but that I could send the order back when it arrives. Again, only $6 but beyond dishonest. Lots of great seed companys to choose from, stay far, far away from this one.
Spent 65$ on easy wave, shock wave and tidal wave petunia seeds. I am an experienced gardener with an indoor greenhouse and I usually use F and M seeds or Burpee, but this year I decided to use Park. What a mistake. Less than 1% germinated!
Have had the worst experience ever, ordering an egift certificate from Park Seed for a friend's birthday. Gave them all the information TWICE - once to the telephone associate who asked all the necessary questions and then the second time to the person who had to take the credit information (I guess because they don't trust the in-take person to handle credit card transactions). I asked the credit card person to repeat the information including the email address where I wanted the egift card sent, and the birthday message we included. Based on the email Park Seed sent me, it apparently is sending the egift card by USPS to some address that has nothing to do with me OR my friend who is having the birthday. I've never dealt with such incompetence for an online order and will be calling my credit card company to cancel the egift card. Park Seed's customer service is a joke. Phone numbers listed on its website are either not working or go unanswered and the same is true for its email contact. All I've received is the perfunctory "thanks for contacting us," reply saying they'll reach out to me. HA. That's a joke because there's been no attempt to get in touch with me. This will mean that my friend's present will be late but I'll know now to never deal with Park Seed again. What an incredible disappointment.
I tried to order a product and once I ordered the product it would disappear and not allow me to print off the invoice and no invoice was ever emailed to me. I called the company and tried talking with a very rude supervisor, Grace Nelson, who would rather argue with me about my order than fix my problem. She continued to argue with me about my order and how I never ordered anything. I finally ended the phone call because she refused to stop arguing with me about my order. I received a double order. My purchasing department accepted the orders and I was not able to return them but I guarantee I will never do business with this company again.
I wish I had reviewed Park Seed before my order. I see their 1.8 stars are well deserved. Never got my order and emails and phone messages have been un-returned.
I ordered a Portabella Mushroom Kit and instead they sent me a less expensive Button Mushroom Kit. Since I notified them of the problem, they have completely ignored me. I've dealt with Park Seeds and some of their sister companies for quite awhile, but never again. The review I left on their website has gone unpublished.
This review is mostly for revenge this company kept my mom in for an extra hour and know this company is my enemy and this is only the beginning of my revenge
I bought a calla lily Odessa from this site and was really excited to receive it. When I received the bulb it was covered in green mold and activated my allergies immediately. The bulb was squishy and molded down to the core. I emailed this company and told them that I would like a refund. The person (Guillermo) apologized that my bulb did not do well in my garden and offered to send another bulb. First, I never planted the bulb and never said that I had. And second, I never asked for a second bulb, I said I wanted a refund. I would use the refunded money to shop elsewhere.
I then called a customer service rep about getting a refund. She sounded uninterested and mean. Eventually, she understood that I wanted a refund and said that she would process it. I never got a confirmation for a refund. And now, here I am, a week later, with an open case on PayPal waiting for the company to respond.
I do not recommend this place to ANYONE. I wish I would have looked up the reviews before purchasing anything. You are better off finding a local nursery, or if you have to shop online, shop at Holland Bulb, American Meadows, or Eden Brothers.
I ordered several times from ParkSeed. I purchased a BioDome on sale that arrived in good condition but had the worst instructions, Therefore, the seeds I purchased to grow - failed to germinate properly. I had ordered a 6 pack combo of plants in April, to plant in my zone on May 15th. ParkSeed said they would be delivered by May 12.
I'm still waiting.
For a packet of seeds priced $8.95 the total order cost $16.44 with a shipping cost of $5.95 and a $1.00 fuel surcharge and.54 tax. SIte advertised $2.99 flat rate shipping on seed only orders with code SHIPSEEDS. I placed my order at 7pm and then discovered I had forgot to input the shipping code and was charged the $5.95 and $1.00 fuel surcharge. Mistake on my part. I emailed customer service at 11:15pm the same night the order was placed requesting order be cancelled. First thing the next morning I tried to call the number for customer service shown in my order confirmation email. Found that the number is just a recording which tells you to reach out to customer service via email (which I did 4 hours after placing the order) or online chat during the summer. The response from the chat was that order was already shipped and nothing they could do. Very dissappointed and won't purchase from them again. Should have checked reviews first as I see they are not very highly rated. I have been happily shopping with Baker Creek / Rare Seeds who always provide free shipping across the USA.
Finally received plants, after numerous contacts with rude and unhelpful staff. Most dead and the rest dying. Over $100 down the drain and absolutely no way to get my money back. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY unless you like throwing your money away! SHAME ON YOU, PARK SEEDS!
ParkSeed has a rating of 1.2 stars from 53 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with ParkSeed most frequently mention customer service, credit card and last year. ParkSeed ranks 93rd among Plants sites.
