The other day I noticed an orange cosmos flower. Today there are more orange flowers on a different plant. What do these plants have in common? They are tagged with blue plastic "toothpicks". I have photo documentation that I used blue markers for seeds depicted as Cosmic Red. My plan was very deliberate: RED flowers (cosmos and zinnias) on the top layer and yellow flowers as an underlayer. Forty plus days later what have I got? Nothing but resentment for a company claiming that the flowers would be a "brilliant scarlet-red." Their gold-colored packet of seeds highlighting that the seeds originated in Germany looks and sounds impressive, when in reality there's nothing impressive about being sold a bill of goods. My brother asked me if I thought there was a chance that Park Seed would attempt to make things right. My response was: As far as I'm concerned, there is no "making this right." If I want what I set out to do, I'll have to find another source of seeds, buy the seeds, wait on their delivery, carefully take care of them until they germinate, if they germinate, and then wait another 40+ days to find out if the flowers are red! If and when Park Seed responds to my letter of complaint, I will share what excuse is given and what resolution is offered, if any.
Until then, I am done doing business with this company!
I ordered different seeds from them and the overall germination rate was very poor. The worst ones were the super sugar snap peas: out of 30+ seeds planted, roughly 80% ended up rotting. The ones that ended up germinating looked weakly and eventually died off. In contrast, I also bought snap seeds from two other companies and the germination rate was 100% & speedy. This means that the issue was with the seeds specifically ordered from Park Seeds. I submitted a review on their website and I'm more than certain they will not be posting it publicly. I only see 5-star reviews for all their products, with several years apart.
First I had no idea at all that my order was coming from China. My tracking info didn't work initially, my order took forever to arrive and when it did nothing was labeled so i have no clue what is what. Besides this actually reaching anyone is almost impossible.
When you call and press any one of their buttons for service, you get to listen to music for ever. Tried calling 9 different times and no one answers the phone.they emailed me saying they had a problem with my credit card, but not able to talk to anyone or get a response. My advice don't order from them
I am an experienced gardener. I have a greenhouse and start almost everything from seed every year. I bought many different vegetable and herbs seeds from Parks this year. The germination was horrible. Some packs did not germinate at all. Seriously 0% germination. Others had a germination rate of 20% - 50%. I planted some year old banana pepper seeds from a different company and had near 100% germination. That same day I planted a pack of new Parks bell pepper seeds and only one seed germinated. The photo below show that there is no date on the seeds packets. The horrible germination causes me to suspect that I received old seeds.
I bought a $150 gift card for my Dad, who passed away unexpectedly. Park Seed would not honor the gift card when I tried to use the balance, saying that it had expired. What terrible customer service!
I bought some perennials last year and they are growing again this spring, But I forgot what they were so I don't know how to take care of them. But I can't find any purchase records on their website. They don't keep the purchase histories for us. They do not make it easier for their customers. The purchase history can be found on any website except theirs. TERRIBLE after-sales service!
I ordered from Park Seed for the first time this year. I received duplicate orders and my credit card was charged twice. I called customer service 4 times over 6 weeks, each time I was told they would refund me in a variety of times (7-10 days, 5-7 days, etc) but they never did. I finally contacted Better Business Bureau, uploaded my evidence, including the call log, and received credit within a week. I'll never order from them again.
I just received your 2024 catalog. It is bound upside down and missing pages 75-111. Of course the pages I want to use--herbs, fruits, bulbs--are missing. I hope this isn't reflective of your quality control.
I ordered some things with a Visa gift card on Feb 16th, it processed just fine online, even shows their payment pending on my card. I get a call from them on Feb 19 days saying it won't process and they need another form of payment. After back and forth (They said I have to register an address for my card but my card doesn't require that, it went through just fine, anyway...) I asked that they just cancel the whole order and refund my money. I then received an email message that they already shipped it (without payment apparently?) so I should write return to sender on it and send it back. I did that and they still haven't removed the pending payment on my card, so I still can't use my card! Side note- The original order should have only been for 98.57 so they also overcharged my card.
Was sent a dead fig tree, when my Husband and I removed it from the container it was so root bound, it looked very old and forgotten, it looked like top ramen before cooking just bigger ( the roots). I contacted the Company, but no response or refund. I will never order any plants online again; learned my lesson P.S. No instructions or info included
I had purchased seeds of Marigold, Cosmos, Malabar Spinach and Orient long beans from Parkseed. Except for small growth in Malabar spinach ( 6 plants out of 25 seeds) and Orient long bean (15 plants germinated), rest of the purchase was a waste. Last year, I bought the Cosmos and Marigold seeds from Homedepot and it did better than compared to Parkseed. I will never recommend buying from Parkseed to any one. I reported a complaint, still to hear back from them. Their seeds and customer service takes the same amount of time to respond, I guess... terrible terrible terrible..
They changed the charged amount on my credit card. I placed an order and received comfiration and and total charge. I few days later I receive a message from PayPal saying that ParkSeed had increased the charge on my creditcard. This should be illegal to change a charge without my permission.
Have shopped there a handful of times over the years. Parkseed always has a good selection of what I need. Seeds grow well with near 100% success rate. I've bought from them twice this last couple weeks. That will be it for the year. Unfortunately their shipping is too expensive. I bought items tonight and applied a 20% off coupon to my order. When checking out, the shipping was more then the 20% off I saved. That along with tax, it was more then disappointing. So many site have free shipping these days. Kinda defeats the purpose of thinking you scored getting 20% off just to have that savings reapplied as shipping. I get emails from them asking to refer friends to get $10 off when they spend $10. Yeah... will never happen, just cause your shipping for what you sell is to high. Nice site but get what you need for the year or two to save your self some money. Or buy local... no shipping charges.
I believe the question is: Do they actually have customer service at all?
Please stay away from this company. I was never able to get in contact with them. If you cannot get behind your company or product you do not deserve our business.
A lot of hard working companies out there that really want your business so give it to them instead!
Ordered a $20 Maui Gold Elephant Ear bulb for a birthday gift for my son. The bulb arrived with large wilted leaves which was unexpected. He planted it but it never produced new leaves. Knowing that bulbs will generally eventually put out healthy growth, he continued to care for it. Finally called Park as the growing season had ended and was told the guarantee had expired -- no refund available. Too bad we tried to give the bulb a chance to thrive. Lesson learned. No more orders from Park Seed Company.
This is the review that I placed last week.
(Used these 2 years ago canned 2years of sauce from 10 plants. This year 10 seeds started in a bio dome from parks with heating pad resulted in 5 plants. I guess as with all companies now days its profit before quality. I'll have to see what my other seeds do and see if I need to look for another source for seeds.) my review was never posted, I guess they only post the good ones.
OK, very limited selection (things "sold out")... Order made and paid.
3+ week wait, just to learn shipping info sent to USPS finally. Several days later learn USPS is still waiting for Park Seed to hand over my order so USPS can ship/deliver it. I ask for refund/cancellation by email... no response. I call customer service (45 minute wait) and customer service rep can't seem to speak up or speak normal english and puts me on hold (to ask supervisor what to do). Package is finally received and I mark it return to sender for full refund and deposit it at USPS office, Now I am waiting again, but at least I bought my seeds from another vendor and got them in 3 days.
I should have looked at your rating here before I purchased--Spent money on seeds dirt pouches and soil and not counting my Time trying to go Creeping Thyme -- I think it is sweet basil But not Creeping Thyme for my landscaping. I did not order from amazon because of their ratings so I came to a seed co only to find out Park Seed Got the Basil seed same place as amazon with the same NON-THYME result. That is why the labels were all in chinese-- I am not pleased
Signed up for email so on my next order could receive free shipping. When putting in an order I put in the discount code for free shipping and it stated I needed to order $40. Worth of merchandise, which I had not. However, when I gave my email address, the $40 was not explained. I went ahead anyway and place my ordered and was shocked that they charged over $6 shipping for three packets of seeds to Arizona! What a rip off. Seeds don't weigh anything and how long does it take to place 3 packets in an envelop and mail.
Never again will I order from them.
BEWARE
