My card was supposed to come in 12 days and it's been over a month and I still don't have it. It's been impossible to get in contact with opensky as their "customer service" phone number is an automated system which gives absolutely no help. I'm extremely frustrated and strongly discourage anyone from signing up for an opensky credit card. Total scam!
I got a $200 credit for my secured account. I've been diligently paying full always a week before payment due. Suddenly, my card keeps on getting declined, saying my card was over limit. Going to my account, calculating all my transactions, it didn't even reach near the limit! And since they updated their system, I can't trace my previous statements anymore! Like everything was wiped out! Is this a scam or something? But in all fairness, my credit score did increase lot after opening my secured account.
If I could give less than 1 star, I would.
They treat their new customers like dirt. If you can, go with some place else. This was the most stressful situation I've had to deal with since my bankruptcy 6 years ago. I am trying to rebuild, and they did everything they could to break that.
They never sent me a card, then claimed they had no idea what I was talking about when I told them I did not have a card, even though it showed as not being activated a month after they sent it. I also did not get my first bill until after the due date, which they still charged me a late fee for. 4-6 weeks to get your deposit back, $10 to pay over the phone, and and late fees for their mistakes. Don't bother. Rebuilding credit is not worth this kind of stress.
The card works fine when it is working. The customer service is non existent. If you have an issue they ask that you communicate by regular paper mail. Payments are made by bank draft. I make all my payments on time and in full. They take the money from my account and when I check the app it says my payment is processed and my balance is zero. It also says my available balance is 0 too. Come to find out that they don't release your line of credit for a full 7 days after your payment has been made. Very inconvenient at times.
Card started getting declined for no reason when I clearly have money on the card. Have been trying to reach a representative.
The automated system goes for a long time before you can press a button and then it seems to time out and doesn't recognize any button you press. To finally reach someone I chose the dispute a transaction option. It patched me through to a representative but keeps saying wait times are currently long.
Curious as to how since it's so hard to even reach a representative. Once you actually get a hold of one they were pretty helpful and nice.
Besides this issue I've had no problems with the card.
A secured card was good for my credit situation. However, payments take over a week to post and reflect an accurate available amount. The second you go over the limit (sometimes via their own charges i. E. the $3 one) they report it to credit bureaus. They then wait another 4-5 weeks to report an updated balance. A few weeks ago I used the card for a security deposit for uhaul and the amount is still not credited back to my account. If you have no other options it's fine, but unreliable and inconvenient.
When I got the card I put up a $300 deposit. I have been paying a $35 annual fee plus other fees. My credit score has now improved and I have a card with other banks with no fee or deposit. I would like to close this account, but can't figure out how. They will not talk to me. The automated phone lines are a disaster.
Cons- take long to report to bureau, payments takes some time to post. Customer service can be a bit annoying at time. I tried calling to inquire about some late payments being removed off my credit a few mths ago. As soon as i asked the question the Agent said i must be crazy and that they don't so that. I thought a unfortunately Mr Moss we can't fulfilled this request would have suffice. I went through a time where i lost my job and wasn't able to pay my bills. I got back on track and was just asking the question
Pros- open to increase of limit, accessibility via online, no issue with decline cc or defaults. Besides the late payments on my credit, i love this card
The only bad experience Im having with this car is the fact that it takes a whole week for my payment to actually post on my account. I HATE THAT! If I made a payment today(Thursday), why do I have to wait until next Thursday to actually use the money?!?! It makes no sense! Other than that, it help my credit tremendously! So I guess I will deal with it until my credit gets to where I need it to be.
They tell me to press 1 for my account and then say it's not valid. Then there is a hang up. I cannot get through to possibly the worst customer service unavailable. Will pay off this card in full next month and cancel it before the next yearly fee, which is a joke. There's no perks to this card at all!
Not only did this card not build any credit after years for me it actually hurt my credit. There appeared to be an automatic ACH issue on the account. I talked to 3 different Supervisors on numerous occasions and each continued to tell me a different stories. One would say there was no ACH Issue or auto pay on the account, but I would still have problems making payments online, the next Supervisor told me there was an ACH for $1. But he removed it. At any rate it caused me nothing but problems and they never could give me straight answer. Then after I finally gave up and closed the account they advised me it will take 10-14 weeks for my refund... What a joke, you are better off to keep shopping for a legit company!
I am giving it a one after some thought. They say you can get credit increase, but you only can if you pay for it. You can only make 4 payments a month, making you carry a balance over into the next month by refusing your payment. They promise after 6 months and with a credit increase, which mine has, to give you your deposit back wrong. There is no customer service without mailing in your concern. The only reason I would recommend this card is bc without credit your screwed. But to increase your credit you must do the work. Be mindful of your credit debit ratio and make payments. I still have this account open only because it's my oldest card. $9 a month plus 75 a year. Get it and get out with this card! It's terrible.
I am completely satisfied with this card so far! I am using it to boost my credit score so I can buy a home and within the first month 2 bureaus went up... one 39 and the other 51. It does take about 5 days or so to post payment to account so I would recommend paying no later than a week before the billing date. I just had Hulu auto pay my card and make payments online to opensky via my checking account. I would definitely recommend this card if you need a credit boost!
I never took care of my credit until I was looking into buying a house was told i needed a 580+ credit score to start process. I did not want to add another inquiry to my credit so i opted for the open sky visa. Added $400 after 3 months of good payment history credit score went from 481 to 594! Not perfect but I'll take it. I have never had a problem with them, the app is pretty self explanatory the first payment did take 1-2 weeks to post now on my 4th month the available credit is updated a day after my payment. Just stay under 10-30% usage and your credit will rise fast.
Since posting this review on a website called pissed consumer I have received an email from open sky stating they have closed my account and I have since gotten my money back 5 days later... I'll never apply to them again
I applied and was approved for this card. I paid the $200 for the credit limit. And keep receiving emails saying I need to give in a picture of my id and I did that when I FIRST applied. 2 weeks later I received the same email and I'm unable to reach anyone to resolve it. I spoke to someone after 20 minutes on hold and was switched to a department that doesn't exist. I called back again and was on hold for 28 minutes with no answer. I want my money back. This is the worse experience. I feel like this company is fraudulent.
You find the card yourself and that's fine but what isn't fine is that when you make a payment it takes a week to affect your available credit. Was told by account rep that it was just the first payment and after that it would be within two days. Made second payment still didn't credit for four days so called and was told always would be 5 to 7 days. Completely BS when you pay fees and fund it yourself. Your money should be available as soon as it clears your bank. Stay away from this dishonest company.
I have an OpenSky credit card for two-plus years. They have a very long wait time to speak with a representative. When I call to report fraudulent charges the nightmare begins. They gave me the wrong information and forgot to report all of the fraudulent charges. I tried to tell them because they didn't give temporary credit for all the transactions. They had my credit card account in the negative for one going two months and charged me late fees. They told me how to make a minimum payment I did they still had me in the negative. They transferred me around to another credit card that does not work with my credit card company. My phone calls were disconnected when they put me on hold. On or around September 15,2023, they again gave me wrong information and transferred around a total of 7 people and was still not help with my issues. They told Mr. That the fraudulent transaction investigation was closed but they missed two to three fraudulent transactions I told them many times to add them but they kept saying they were added. It is amazing how disorganized this company is. They told me one thing then I received a letter saying someone else. My credit score was effectively very negative because of their sloppiness. I strongly recommend that you do your business somewhere else. It's many credit cards that can help build your credit with less headaches and mental stress.
They take a deposit and then all they do is find ways to charge for non existent "payment reversals" and keep your money
This is pure theft, and takes advantage of the poor people trying to reestablish credit.
Someone should file a class action.
I've called 3 time since I got the card been on hold for over 1 hour each time can't use the card at a lot of places like gas station restaurants etc and waited over 3 weeks to even get the card and now I can't use it my best advice is to stay away
Set up an acct with my own money. Re: Secured I Know. They charged me an annual fee that they never told me about. No mail, no email, no calls. $35 fee turned into $65 and severely damaged my credit by 30 points for an annual fee for a card i only had a few months Called and talked to " Ken" in customer service. Not only was he not helpful he never asked me if i would like to pay down the money they stole from me.
Answer: I too, gave the my money on 2/21/17 and am still waiting on a card so that I may use my funds that I gave them!
Answer: I got a letter stating up to 10 weeks. What a grifter organization. Probably Hunter Biden is on their board and the big guy runs the check book!
