OkCupid has a rating of 1.6 stars from 649 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with OkCupid most frequently mention fake profiles, customer service and phone number. OkCupid ranks 650th among Dating sites.
It amazes me the number of people that are still coming on to review sites and complaining about losing money to the scam organizations. Never ever pay any money to any dating site whether it be okay Cupid or match or Tinder or Bumble etc. You do not have to pay money to get the same bad experience. Paying money only means you are giving your money away for nothing. They will scam you out of your money. Never ever pay money to these sites. You do not have to pay money to find a date on these sites. Paying money does not increase your chances of finding a date. Read all of the hundreds and hundreds of reviews here and on other review sites to see that paying money is a scam and if you are willing to give up your money then do so but do not come back on here and complain. Never ever pay money to any of these sites.
If you read the reviews you will notice that the match group purchased okCupid and destroyed it. It is now only a shell of its former self completely filled with fake and scammer profiles. It's only reason for being is to scam unsuspecting new people and to get money for the match group or OKCupid. You will not find a match on OKCupid. You will just lose your money. If you have already lost your money, coming on and complaining is not going to help anyone. Just don't ever spend your money again on any dating site. When you stop paying for these dating sites they will go away. When they go away they will hopefully make room for legitimate sites. Any site run by the match group is not going to be a legitimate site. I am not saying you will not find a match on these sites but it will be difficult. Paying money will not increase your chances of a match and will only give your money away to these scam organizations.
I stopped using this site months ago. It became a 100% waste of time. There's no value in this site. If you look through the reviews you will see the percentage of negative reviews. Any five star or positive review read with caution because it is most likely fake and provided by a scammer or the company itself.
If you want a Real Lady, try J4Dream.com I got really lucky there and now I live with the woman I couldn't even dream of. Yes, I had to travel, yes, she is a foreigner, yes, it took some time – but she is absolutely worth it! Now I know what it feels like to live with a model-looking woman with sweet heart and family-oriented personality. She is 100% opposite of OkCupid women.
I wonder what's wrong with OkCupid women? Looks below average, overweight, uneducated, ridiculously picky with long list of requirements for men.
If you come across a really good-looking woman on OKCupid, she is most likely a scammer, so be very careful! Scammers usually ask for your email, exchange a few letters and then ask you for money. It goes without saying that regardless of the sob story no money should be sent to scammers!
Despite a preference for local matches, all my matches were from developing countries looking to get out. They lured me into the paid version of the app by saying I had lots of likes. Yeah, but likes from places I would like to have nothing to do with. I then restricted my preferences to local matches and still got matched with undesirables. How hard can it be to be matched with someone similar to me who lives locally? They promise quality matches. The only matches I see are those with minimal credentials. And they should really restore the income thresholds. Makes it easier to screen for potentials.
I had utilized OKCupid before between 2012 to around 2019. I was able to land a number of quasi successful relationships. Years later, when I was in a place in which I felt online dating was called for again, I decided to return to OKCupid, especially after reading on one news site that compared dating apps, and noted that a strength of OKCupid was the large database of participants. I pulled the trigger and set up my profile. I was very surprised by the number of likes that I had received, especially compared to other dating apps I had tried. I received 80 within a 24 hour period! I should have been more suspicious than I was. Thinking that I did not want to miss out on an opportunity, I decided to do something that I did not originally plan, that is to purchase a premium service. I went with the mid-tier 3 month for just under $90. When the transaction was complete and I could see who actually supplied those likes, I IMMEDIATELY regretted my decision and felt like I had blown close to $100. Only two of the likes came from my home state. The vast majority of them came from Kenya, Uganda, Philippines, and Thailand. I had even applied a 25 mile limit in my preference section. What's worse is that I had emailed OKCupid customer service to address my displeasure of this interface design, and voiced that I thought there was some deception involved in getting their customers to go premium, but after several days, they have not even bothered to respond. On top of that, the selection of local singles/participants is quite limited. Avoid OKCupid at all cost.
They advertise as a completely free site and it's not, only to look at pictures. I see the same faces and they push likes and messages to get you to pay. Needless to say i didn't fall for it and won't pay to chat with someone who really isn't interested to get to know me
The worst dating site. Full of married men and scammers. Don't waste your time on that site. It's nothing but dumpster diving.
If you're looking for a serious relationship then OkCupid is not the way to go. It's mainly a hookup app. Every guy I have matched with turned out to be a huge disappointment.
I paid almost $90 dollars for a three month membership, only to get, at most maybe ten messages from men that were all from out of state despite my settings. After messaging with them for a few minutes, most of them seemed decent and stated they were looking for a long term relationship but shortly after we got to chatting the conversation on their part became sexual. It was a real turn off as I'm looking for a quality person. I made very clear what I'm looking for on my profile but the site is full of cringy men looking for hookups. Unless that's your cup of tea, Don't waste your time or hard earned money.
OkCupid showed me the same 5 local people over and over. I also had many suggestions for obvious 'catfish'. The worst part was that they continued to charge me ($47/mo) even after I deleted the account. You will never speak with a human when you try to contact them. I asked them to refund my money or restore the account. I will NEVER recommend this app to anyone!
The ordinal founders sold out. Now Match Group has completely ruined the last actual useful free dating app/site, because the competition was too hard for them. 10 likes per day limit on the free version. Most likes/views are from halfway round the globe by bots that never get taken down. Most local profiles are dead ends of people that left the app/site and never deleted their profile but will never get removed so that Match group can continue to sell ads space by using inflated user numbers.
Low quality trash men
No offence but that's what they are i chatted with many
Thanks god i didn't met any
Messaged over seven female profiles get banned. I never did anything. In the past when I was on there women were rude and nasty. I deleted my account. This time I get banned for no reason.
OkCupid is a great place to meet new people, especially if you are looking for something casual or casual/dating relationships. OkCupid offers many different tools to help you find the right match. It's also one of the most popular dating sites in the world and has been around since 2004.
I met my wife on OKcupid, so it worked for me. I think the trick is to answer their questions truthfully, beware of liars and players, and only meet those you match over 90% (my wife and I were a 99% match!)
Spent ages creating an account and answering the questions. All the people who 'liked' me were blurred out - I needed to commit to a payment plan to see them. A dishonest business model.
The site is clumsy, the like button doesn't work. When you send a message and they respond you can send additional messages. There is no search engine to find the ideal person. You have to struggle thru the site mistakenly to find anyone. Your bombarded with people from overseas that you would never consider. It's expensive compared to other sites. Not a site to find someone easily.
I purchased upgrade and my matches that they sent were not even close it's a joke not even worth 1 star I cancelled after one day and they really sent garbage the matches were not even in distance specified by me don't waste your time and money on this you got a better chance on a street corner than this site

Answer: It's good only if you absolutely feel the need to burn your money and time! Seriously speaking, don't repeat my mistake! I had wasted plenty of time and emotions there trying to find a gem among rubbish. Just go to a decent and efficient site with good reputation and you will have plenty of choice there as long as you are a normal and adequate person. I'm using https://j4l.com/402007 And I'm content with it. I found several ladies that I really like, I had meetings with them and now its the time to choose for me!
Answer: OLC is so so... Most of the woman are in dream land and seeking Mr USA. And are not going to meet you in person 95% of the time... You really need to weed out the B. S & players... And that is simple to do... If they can't meet you in person in public with in one week. Drop them... Don't waste your time... Next!
Answer: Terri - this is what I recently sent in about OKC. I will answer your specific questions at the end of this. I have heard many complaints about OKC and scammers. But I AM NOT HAVING ANYWHERE NEAR THE PROBLEMS THAT OTHERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT. I am on several sites, and I experience about the same % of scammers on all. 1) it is so easy to spot a scanner - he wants to use email or text/phone right away. Is this really a problem? I immediately block. 2) if he is in Africa or any other 3rd world nation, I immediately block. I filter my messages so that I do not receive messages from anyone who has answered less than 100 questions or is at least an 85% match. Scammers are so obvious. Also, I note that most scammers claim to be "god-fearing christians," or "looking for an LTR or marriage." I am an atheist and very liberal and state this in my profile and my questions. I know what I am about to say is very offputting, snobbish, elite, etc., but I don't think scammers hit atheist, well-educated, and skeptical people as much as they do others (christians). Sorry, but I did say you wouldn't like that. Scammers are on every site. I have been following the sites and the complaints about scammers. My conclusion, based on my experience, blogs, and LOTS of research, indicate that every site has about the same amount of scammers. Sites that provide almost 0% info on potential matches (Zoosk, POF, tagged, Chemistry, Match, ourtime, etc. - all worthless for matching, IMO) do NOT have fewer scammer than OKC. I am also a moderator on OKC. WORD: Do a GIS on every picture on every profile on every site. It will tell you if the pics were stolen from a commercial source (models, actors, etc.) or not. I have had a ton (sometimes 3/week) of dates from OKC, and I do not believe any of these guys were scammers. Finally, if you know how to spot a scammer, what difference does it make how many there are on any site? I am 59. Yes, I have many very young men contacting me. I just say "You are too young, but thank you for your interest." If they reply, I block. As I stated, I've met tons of great guys (and of course, creeps) and had a lot of dates. I have a lot of correspondence before the date, and make it clear that I am looking for LTR and NOT FWB, NSA (what a load of crap). I have not clicked with anyone yet; but the, I am an atheist, free-thinker, liberal in Texas. Not a lot of guys hit on me (after 18 months on OKC, I only get about 8 guys/week hitting on me. Check my profile: I'm not gorgeous (LIB75002) or email me: joannar75002@gmail.com). I will be happy to help you further, if requested.
Answer: If you use care and caution it's safe. Women are subjected to more weirdos but you can block them. Spammers are going to get through and they will usually ask for your email or phone number. If someone interests you message a lot before you meet and always meet in a public place. If someone insists on more than you're comfortable with move on.
Answer: You have to understand on clear thing: THIS SITE IS A 2 IN 1 DEAL. People are vetted based upon: 1) their overall attractiveness + 2) their ability to PULL IN MORE USERS I have found an UNDERGROUND OKC and have made some friends in that with my last account, but then admin began asking me strange questions about my experiences there that sounded alot less like SITE PATROLLING and a lot more like I WAS FOUND OUT AS A NON INSIDER among that group. I have a running list of accounts that are "sponsored" by the site. I was among the very first to report that okc was OWNED BY MATCH.COM to be used as its social outlet site. HOWEVER AS OF 2 DAYS AGO A MUCH BIGGER ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE: Match.com BOUGHT POF /Plenty of Fish and has bought into /partnered with TINDER. By years end ALSO be on lookout for Ashley Madison to be brought into the fold. WHY ALL THIS: to cut radically the price of the investment & upkeep of all those lab created profiles. BY overlapping data bases and also ADMIN STAFF... The operating costs should have al least a 40% reduction which means 40% more profit. Just so you know Toni, look up Passionate Composer. I will write you back. REAL PEOPLE DO THIS. You may like the profile too. I was among the first to take advantage of the social site move.
Answer: Yes, I have had this happen a lot. People just want your phone number because they don't want to use the site. Then they want to ask questions like where you are from. I guess so they can research you. I am real leery about giving out my email and phone numbers. All kinds of scammers out there.
Answer: Yes, it is completely free... You pay for the more advanced features, but over the last ten years or so, I have met my last 6 lovers through the site ( though oftentimes it turns out that we already knew the same people... The matching algorithms are simply_that_ *good*!) and have never given them a single penny. ( though honestly, I really should, if only out of gratitude!) Give it a try, it really is head and shoulders above the rest of the sites out there...!
Answer: Not really, before Okcupid went full on liberal wasteland they used to release their numbers/stats and it was never bad to begin with. I believe it was like 60/40 depending on how you set up your searches. In my state it was close to 50/50.
