STUPID
November 20, 2019

I put two of my songs on this site. I started getting emails from "fans" saying how much they loved my music. They would ask me how to purchase my music. As I don't have my music for sale, I would redirect them to my Soundcloud because that's where all of my songs live. I got a few responses, but for the most part no one responded. I also get emails every few weeks saying I am #1 in the charts. One time, they said I was #1 in my city, province, and country all at the same time. Me!?!?!? I must add that prior to all this I really struggled with alcoholism and other mental health issues, so feeling like I was #1 in the entire country brought me great pride and joy! For months all these emails from N1M made me SO HAPPY! I even screenshotted some of them and shared them on my Facebook! HOW F*CKING HUMILIATING IS IT TO HAVE TO TURN AROUND AND TELL EVERYONE THAT IT WAS ALL A LIE!? I am livid. This is one of the most cruel things I have ever experienced. Like thanks alot, enjoy all your STOLEN MONEY N1M. > :(

Number One Music is a 100% scam! They use bots to give you phony reviews about how "great" your music is and then pester you to buy crypto-currency or use a credit card to upgrade your membership for supposedly more exposure for your music. They send you emails telling you your "fans" want to hear from you. However, you can send an email to any one of your "fans" and none of them will reply because they don't exist! The site is very slick. Know this: If you post any of your music on Number One Music, the only person who will listen to it is you. Any money you spend with them will be money down a rat hole. You can go on their site and check out music that has been posted there and is supposedly highly rated with them. What they are sharing with you is the music of suckers who gave them money to "upgrade" their membership. The posted music is overwhelmingly amateurish and awful, with no commercial potential whatsoever.
If you are an aspiring musician, you need to follow this simple rule: NEVER PAY TO BE PLAYED. Never. Don't give money to sites or blogs that will supposedly help get your music wide exposure. They are all schemes designed to separate musicians from their money. Never pay to submit a song to any song writing contest. They too are all 100% money making scams. Never pay a supposed "expert' to review your music. Never spend dime one with an online "expert" who will "share secrets" with you about how you can build a fan base and/or get your music "sync licensed" to be played on commercials, TV and movies. None of those very slick people are your friend! Beware of "Independent" or "Indy" musician groups and conferences. They will do nothing for you and your musical career other than take your money. Know that absolutely no one is buying CDs these days and any money you spend having one produced will never be recouped. If you are not already a super star, there is no money to be made from your music on streaming services. Therefore, never pay any person or entity claiming they will distribute your music so that you get plays of Spotify, iTunes, etc. Any site, group, "agent" or consultant asking you for money to promote your music at any point in time is crooked and will never help you. The music industry is a closed system in which only a handful of artists earn enough money to even buy a cup of coffee, much less make a living or become a star. Don't throw your money away by paying those who sell the illusion that you can earn money through your music.
