If you have a legal issue, don't bother using this site. I went through the process and filled out all the information that was requested and in the submission of this information, it stated that an initial consultation would be free. However, once someone from Hepworth & Associates texted me back to schedule a time to talk with an attorney but they also wanted to collect a $200 fee. Even if there is nothing they can do for you, they still want to collect $200. That just doesn't seem right and for this site to state that the consultation is free is misleading.
For attorneys, based on my experience, this site is an absolute waste. They promise you the moon and get you nonsense referrals that are not only a waste of money, but also a waste of time in having to respond to them. No surprise, no money back guarantee with these guys.
Legal Resource Books and Forms - For reliable, easy-to-read, do-it-yourself books about legal topics, I highly recommend Nolo Press. Their books are well written and typically intended for non-lawyer audiences.
Years ago, I practiced as a solo practitioner in corporate law; and when my clients asked me for recommendations on law books where they could learn more about a particular topic (e.g., copyright or trademark law), I often sent them to Nolo.com to find a particular book.
For example, if you're interested in learning how to incorporate your business on your own (without engaging a lawyer), you might read background in Nolo's "How to Form Your Own California Corporation" -- and then use some of their forms on CD.
Nolo Press is very good and taking your money and then ignoring the hell out of you when you need customer service. I've been trying for the last hour to reach someone at Nolo; no matter how many times I've called or how many different extensions I've tried I've been sent to a generic voice mail. Pathetic rip off.
The leads you pay for are typically not leads at all, instead they are people who have questions that are not pertinent. A lead should not read "need help, just got out of prison" or "depressed" as a lead, as we are not social workers but attorneys. Beware that 9 of 10 leads (at best) are worthless and this inflates the cost of conversion to one of the industry highest per lead rates (and a large waste of precious time).
My ex-husband passed away and I had questions to ensure I was protecting my children from his death. Mr. Richards was extremely helpful in providing advice and guidance on how best to handle the situation. He took as much time as was needed to answer my questions and address any concerns I had. Should I have estate legal issues again I would definitely go to him first!
I wish I read these reviews before paying foe leads. They send the leads to at least 5 different law firms. And they don't tell you. The problem is that the big law firms have huge call centers to call leads. Solo attorneys cannot compete with that.
80% of leads have disconnected numbers. The other 20% that pick up either say "wrong number" or that they already have an attorney.
Biggest waste of money. Their customer service is horrible. Anything you say to them, they respond "prove it."
Nolo was Quick to tell me that I was the Heir to millions of dollars. What they fail to tell me is the name of the insurance company!? This makes it all that much more frustrating! I have no clue as to obtain the answers! THANKS NOLO!
I am greatly disenchanted with the low-level customer support for Nolo.com, Willmaker Plus 2019. The software has a major flaw and all customer support can offer is "unfortunately" and "I'm sorry, there is nothing I can do"
This is not acceptable product support. It is sidestepping responsibility for a malfunctioning product by an unethical company which does not stand behind their products.
The issue is data, when entered using a Mac, is not auto saved, which would allow you to resume work at a later time.
A reputable company with integrity would. Have knowledgeable tech support available intimately familiar with the software. In circumstances when lower level tech support is not able to address the issue, a reputable company should have access to the programmer to address and solve the issue.
Although not a solution to lost data which is likely a programming issue, customer support should immediately offer a product replacement in the likelihood that the product data is corrupt on the media supplied.
They did not offer to replace the software
There's no tech support for this company. Nothing really works. The chat, email, phone call...
I purchased the program, but couldn't download it...
They just want $$ and provide no customer support.
Their online products are terrible. If you could simply purchase software to, for instance, create a Living Trust, that would be fine. However, the online version is clunky at best and virtually impossible to renew, so that you cannot make changes to the trust you have created. Their web site is amateurish for a large company.
The leads are enitced, looking for pro bono work and they have no interest in retaining an attorney. Also the return policy is bs with valid email disqualifies the return even with a bad phone number. Just a terrible waste of time and money
Once you give them your number, that's it. I don't know how long it's been, and they're still calling. I just needed a simple question answered, and so far I've been emailed, texted, and called from over a dozen phone numbers (because I block the number, they'll call from a new number). I've told them in email, over the phone, and in text message that I no longer need their services, but they haven't stopped. I even got a text message from them saying they're just going to keep calling unless I answer, which I have, and tell them I don't need anything, which I have, but they just keep calling. Is there some secret phrase I have to say? I decided not to use them because of the hacks that call themselves "lawyers". It's a crap service that will never leave you alone.
I purchased this service to create a trust for my Dad & his wife. During the process, my Dad passed away. The Nolo Law document would not allow me to delete my Dad's name.
We contacted Nolo Law & they emailed tell us we could now update the document, but when we try it says we must name a 2nd grantor. We don't have a 2nd grantor. The trust is solely for his widow with her daughter being the trustee.
After one year of trying to get Nolo to update the document, the subscription expired. Rather than start from scratch, we purchased another subscription. We are still unable to update the document & removed our deceased Father's name.
We also tried to enter the legal property information for the houses, but the document won't save the new changes. We have been trying for one year to get this resolved.
Nolo law responds very slow and only via email. There is no customer service for this website. I do not recommend Nolo Law. Try another company so you don't waste a year.
I already have a lawyer, I just wanted to ask a general question to someone who isn't directly involved in my case to make sure my lawyer was conducting himself in my best interest but they wanted WAY too much personal information from me and wanted to connect me with several lawyers in my area to solicit business. Unfortunate!
I contacted them about a pending foreclosure and they advised me they could not help me because I could not pay outright. I have tried several times to get legal assistance through them from ANY attorney. This is a paid service only. Heartless.
My wife hired a lawyer to do a no contest divorce. I felt her requests were too high. I answered the NOLO questions stating my concerns with what she wanted. They said they found a lawyer in my area. It was one lawyer and it was the one my wife had hired. Not good! I went onto their live chat to let them know. It is NOT a "Live CHat".
Great references and legal documents for the layman and the paraprofessional. Good estate planning documents, for good or for people who can't afford an attorney right now. Better to have something in place than nothing. (But still go to a lawyer eventually. Even so, reading these books will help you understand what an attorney is doing for you!)
These people are a joke I'm having hard Time Financially and was seeking help because I was 1 month behind on mortgage. They were going to start Forclosure and there answer was just pay it. Gee why didnt i think of that.
This is a scam. A number of "Leads" I was provided confirmed that they hadn't been in accidents, had never submitted anything requesting a call for representation, and when I requested a refund providing documentation from a "lead" who had never submitted his email or phone number, hadn't been in any accident and actually lived about 2000 miles away confirming the fake lead, MartindaleNolo offered no refund and kept all of my money. They count on lawyers being too busy to sue.
Nolo has a rating of 1.6 stars from 90 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Nolo most frequently mention customer service, bad leads and phone number. Nolo ranks 72nd among Legal Documents sites.
