Musescore just charged my credit card for an unwanted and unordered subscription to their pro version which I did not order and don't want! They make it nearly impossible to get a refund and the quality of their scores for string quartet is servely lacking! Don't fall for their scam!
I signed up for the 7 day free version. Unfortunately, I was unable to access my account during the 7 days to unsubscribe so the payment for the Pro version was taken £69 from my account. I am still unable to access the account despite contacting Paula at "support" they have ignored my request to refund my money and to access my account.
Free, free, free. Do not believe it! It is a free trial of seven days only. That is not enough time to solve the problem of not being given the activation code for the account, that you need to cancel the subscription. The answers to the mails I send, asking for a refund get replied with lots of little letters and 'told you so'. So I paid a lot of dollars for one (free) piece of music for my 12-year old acordion playing son.
Kind of furious, really.
I forgot my login details, such as the user, which email address and my password, and could therefore no longer use musescore. I then emailed musescore and received a prompt response. I was supposed to prove, that I had paid the fee for the annual subscription, otherwise I could not prove my identity. Fortunately, I didn't have to initiate an identification process.
After I emailed my credit card statement to musescore, a short time later I received my username and the information of the email address I was registered with. I logged in again and was able to call up a link to select a new password. Since then I have had access again and use musescore.
That's what I call an uncomplicated service.
Musescore claims you can cancel your free trial and then charges you for a FULL YEAR subscription with no recourse to reverse the payment. They haven't been responsive to my requests showing my attempts to cancel the subscription prior to the free trial ending. Absolutely awful customer service.
I often need to download music onto my devices. I thought musescore might be a good company to get sheet music from. I opted to try the free trial for a week to see if I liked it. The offer clearly stated I would not be charged at all until the third day. I downloaded some songs but found they didn't have the same chord patterns I am used to. Since they weren't what I wanted, I decided to cancel my free trial less than an hour after starting. I had verified my email already and put in my credit information. I found musescore had charged me $39.99 without my authorization and when I emailed them to ask them to refund me for the transaction I hadn't been aware of, they offered a 25% refund. I've read a lot of similar reviews, it seems to be their chosen way to scam. I disputed the charge with my bank and emailed musescore to let them know. It seems most of their emails are impersonal and automated so I doubt anyone is even reading my emails.
Hello Laurinda, Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry, but we didn't advertise a free trial for the $40/year plan. This plan does not include a trial due to the significant discount on it. Yes, we offer a plan with a 7-day free trial period. This plan was pre-selected by clicking on the "Start free trial" button. However, you did not start the free trial. Instead, you selected a 12-month plan at a discounted price by choosing the "Special Offer" option during the subscription process. Thus you did purchase 1-year subscription directly. Yes, our refund policy does not imply a full refund due to licensing agreements, but you can create refund request by ToS to receive the maximum possible refund: https://musescore.com/legal/terms.
Clicked their free trial that took me to a small subscroption, no trial, thought it was okay. As payment processed it turned into a PRO subscription in the span of 5 minutes without my concsent and took 39.99$ US. Customer Service has been EXTREMELY poor. They offer all sorts of discounts and subscriptions before telling you that it's impossbie to recieve a full refund because of the time you've spent asking them for a refund. Had to escalate it to paypal to try and get a refund.
Stay away!
Hello Rea, Thank you for your feedback. It seems that you have clicked the "special offer" option and selected a plan without a trial. Since a subscription with a free trial period is preselected, if you wish to obtain a subscription without a trial but with a discount, you need to click on the "special offer" button. Yes, some of our subscription plans do not include a free trial period. This information is indicated in the descriptions of these plans and at the final confirmation of your subscription choice, where you also authorize the purchase or the free trial, depending on the option you have selected.
Unfortunately, the free period is a scam. Musescore charged my credit card even though I had cancelled. Emails to them also failed to get a refund, so I am now working with credit card to get a refund. Beware they will charge you anyway.
I don't appreciate businesses taking money out if my account with zero notice, I dont care if it's autorenew, where's the warning, honesty, heads up...
Even the phone and internet companies send you a bill when taking money, what a shameful business model! Musescore has made me regret being a musician, just another money hungry company keen to rop of musicians.
Most of the music that comes of the website is inccorect anyway. Count me out!
Baited into a free trial but they switched me to 1 year subscription of USD40 instead.
After raising a dispute with my credit card company, they offered 25% refund.
My credit card company followed up on the dispute, and they raised refund to USD30.
I will not pay the USD10 for something that I want to cancel after just 2 days of free trial. This review will stay until I get my full refund.
Finally got 100% refund after my credit card company disputed MuseScore's charges. MuseScore now wants a 5 star review. Do they deserve a 5 star review?
MuseScore: "If you are satisfied with the solution to your problem, please change your reviews to 5 stars on Trustpilot and Sitejabber"
When you sign up for the free trial and give your payment information you don't have the option to cancel your subscription before they "get your account ready" whatever the **** that means. They charged me BEFORE 7 days had passed and didn't give my money back.
Hello Katja, Thank you for your feedback.
When I wanted to subscribe, I chose the option to pay per month. And immediately, I was charged for the year. I contacted the company for explanations and was told that everything was well explained on the site and that it was up to me to read the instructions carefully.
I explained to them that I had read correctly and chosen the right subscription option. After several emails, I was offered things that didn't interest me at all because it wasn't what I wanted to pay for. I was finally forced to open a "dispute" through PayPal and received my money again. The company sent me an email wanting to demonstrate their willingness to reimburse me, but that was not the case, because I had to open a dispute. They simply tried to change their image, but the email showed a two-sided face! If you want to experiment with a purchase with this company, good luck! Especially use Paypal and especially not your credit card. Best not to buy from this company. That's the best advice I can give you.
Hello Roger, I apologize for the inconvenience caused. When you open a dispute with PayPal, the funds become frozen and we are unable to process refunds. That is why our technical support suggested canceling the dispute so that the funds can be returned quickly, as the resolution of a dispute with PayPal can take several weeks.
For God's sake, if I am using drum staff and drum notes I do NOT need the drums jumping all over the place when I try to simply enter a new note. I just wasted 10x the time it would have taken me to just jot this down on paper. This will not work for me. Here's an idea: if you point at the staff and click, how about putting the note THERE? This is very clumsy and too time consuming. I do not see ghosts or flams or riffs in the toolbar, so I guess THAT will be a huge pain too. I'm noping out. I'll just use paper.
Hello Karl, Thank you for your ideas. We have forwarded them to the development department. We hope to be able to make the product better for you in the future.
I have been a MuseScore PRO subscriber since year 2020 for $29.99/year, auto payment set up via PayPal.
But yesterday, when using MuseScore on my iPad, it popped up message let me pay $39.99 for a PRO+ subscription; I thought that was for my original subscription to renew, so I clicked to pay.
Only one hour later, I noticed that I paid two times to MuseScore in the same day: $29.99 via PayPal and $39.99 via iTune; I cancelled the $39.99 subscription on my iPhone, but this only cancels the future payment, not the one I already paid. I contacted MuseScore support, but they refuse to refund me.
It's unfair to double charge a loyal user; I will stop any future renew and keep giving negative feedback wherever I can.
These absolute filthy $#*!s will $#*! you sideways, immediately, if you sign up during their bull$#*! "free seven day trial" they will charge you whether you cancel or not. They are absolute cocksuckers.
Hello Chris, Thank you for your feedback. Yes, some of our subscription plans do not include a free trial period. This information is indicated in the descriptions of these plans. However, these plans are offered with a good discount.
Me, I play the trombone since about 8 months, and Im very passionate about it.
I saw some YouTubers use a notation software, and I didnt even know those existed, so i searched for one.
A free and working one.
After a few months, I still think Musescore is a great option for anyone, and I would rate it 5 stars any day.
Anyone should give it a try.
Hello TAH, Thank you very much for your feedback. We are glad that you enjoy using our product. If you have any suggestions for improving our service, we would be happy to receive them at support@musescore.com
During the trial signup process, they did a bait and switch. I thought I was signing up for the trial, but instead I was charged, and they are refusing to refund me even though I requested the refund immediately after this occurred.
A scam bro it lures you to press on the free trial then even when you cancel it, it still finds a way to renew it without even noticifying you charging you automatically a yearly payment off your card/balance.
Unfortunately I only read reviews after I was already scammed by Musescore. After following the FREE 7 days TRIAL Button they immediately charged 39,99 EUR. When I opened dispute they only offered 25 percent discount. I want to unsubscribe and full refund, but still waiting for answers. I blocked my credit card... What else can I do?
Hello Pungo, Thank you for your feedback. Yes, some of our subscription plans do not include a free trial period. However, we cannot immediately charge you upon pressing the "start free trial" button. There are several more steps involving selection and confirmation of the plan, as well as confirmation of payment information. Since the subscription with a free trial period is pre-selected, to get a subscription without a trial but with a discount, you need to click on the "special offer" button. It seems that you clicked this option and chose a plan without a trial. This information is indicated in the descriptions of these plans and on the final confirmation of the subscription choice.
I inadvertently created a website subscription when I used my Facebook profile to access the free trial. I also created a Google play subscription when I downloaded the app as I was having trouble finding a way to cancel my free trial. I received a notification that my subscription would end before the payment cycle would begin. I went back to the website and went in circles trying to see the status of any website subscription and how to cancel any such subscription. The suggested links didn't work. One gave the "danger, warning!" result of `oops that page does not exist'. My PayPal account has been debited and I requested a refund. They offered 2 options: 1)35%refund plus continued 12mth subscription or 2)continued 12mth subscription + an extra 10months. The subscription is of no use to me as I discovered that my physical disability made playing my flute excruciatingly painful. MuseScore is aware of my disability and still refuses to fully refund my money.
