Financial bandits! No Free trial - they immediately charge you and then it is very difficult to get money back. They return just a portion of them. I am going to call PayPal to start a dispute because they, MuseScore, cheats people.
The free trial is a scam. They charge you full year subscription before the trial ends and there is no reminding email about the expiry. The next email you will get is a invoice. When trying to dispute it no one answer your request. And the service is cancelled by them and I got charged for 15 dollars and I can;t even use anything service on the website..
My son found free music from this site that he wanted to play. He thought that he would need a proof of purchase to use the piece in competition, so he thought he was accessing a free tril and used my email account for it. I contacted them immediately to let them know that it was NOT an approved purchase and even with a paid subscription the music did not have what he needed, so the site is useless.
I had the same problem as many others here. I signed up for a 14 day trial and Musescore charged me for a full year for going over the trial date. That's around $65 Canadian. I'm even more suspicious now because people have left reviews both on Site Jabber and Trusted Pilot saying that the Musescore charged them after they cancelled their trial. I really didn't want to have to cancel my credit card but to safeguard myself against future charges, I will have to have the credit card company send me a new card. Always read reviews before signing up for anything. Rather than read a 10 page terms of agreement, actual customer reviews paint a more accurate picture of a company's business practices.
I do not recommend this service. The only way to contact them for any "help" is via email, and the delay in waiting for a reply can often take too long.
I had been under the impression that I cancelled my subscription to their service when I received a notification that I would be charged. I sent an email, and the reply stated that my account was cancelled and I would not be charged in the future. At the time of their reply no charges had hit my bank account. The following morning I discovered that they charged me anyway.
Since there is no way to receive any sort of timely communication with them, I am forced to dispute the charges with my bank and notify authorities of theft.
Hello Elizabeth, thank you for your review.
If a support rep told you that the subscription was canceled, this means you have two MuseScore accounts and you started subscriptions with both of them.
One trial was successfully canceled before the end of the test period but the second one was not. And unfortunately, you contacted us via the account with a canceled subscription.
Please contact the rep again mentioning my message (you can simply paste the link to this review) and I'm sure you'll receive the correct response.
We're waiting for your message!
It's very strange to me this scam company still exist.
Do not give them any bank details, they will keep charging you even if you cancel your subscription and they won't give you your money back. (mostly, they don't even respond to e-mails). I contacted my bank, that's the only way I could get my money back.
I signed up for Musescore to download some sheet music but did not want to commit to a subscription yet. On the site, it said there was a 2 day free trial so I signed up put in my card information. I get an email from them and they have already taken $40 out of my bank. I emailed them and they said the trial was for another subscription, but I clearly remember it being for the one I bought. They only offered a 25% refund. Super pissed and upset and never supporting this company.
Hello Jennifer, Thank you for your feedback. We offer only a 7-day trial period for some subscriptions. We do not have a 2-day trial period. However, some of our subscription plans do not include a free trial period. You have selected such a plan. This information is specified in the descriptions of these plans. But on the other hand, these plans are sold with a good discount.
I was honestly helped by Musescore with my refund request. This was with my subscription to a bi-annual pack, paid through credit cards.
The keys are to:
- Request them asap when you see the credit card is charged
- Request through both email & website refund page
- Check the credit card carefully to see if it blocks anything that may affect transaction process
I signed up for a free trial and decided this wasn't the right site for me so I went to cancel my subscription, it was incredibly difficult to find and after I thought I had unsubscribed they still charged me $69.99. When I asked for a refund they tried to get me to extent my subscription instead, finally they offered me 35% refund and told my I was out of luck.
Don't make the same mistake I did, make sure you get an email confirmation that you cancelled, or just stay away there are so many different sites.
Hello Keaten, Thank you for your feedback. Canceling the subscription is actually very simple. It's just a few steps. 1. Go to Account Settings or click your profile icon located at the upper right of the MuseScore website and choose 'Settings' in the dropdown. 2. Then open the 'Subscription' section and click 'End my Free benefits' button.
Unfortunately yes, our refund policy does not imply a full refund due to licensing agreements https://musescore.com/legal/terms.
I recently signed up for the 7-day free trial and was charged $59.99 AUD immediately to the bank account. I have cancelled the subscription on the same day and am awaiting their response to my refund request. All through the free-trial process, it was advertised that "You won't be charged during your trial period." Blatant scam.
So, I signed up for a 7 day trial. I was charged immediately. When I contacted customer service, they claim that I didn't sign up for the 7 day trial and just offered a 25% discount. FALSE advertising!
Hello Holly, Thank you for your feedback. Yes, some of our subscription plans do not include a free trial period. However, we cannot immediately charge you money upon pressing the "start free trial" option. There are several more steps involving selection and confirmation of the plan, as well as confirmation of payment information. Since the subscription with a free trial period is pre-selected, to get a subscription without a trial but with a discount, you need to click on the "special offer" button. It seems that you clicked this option and chose a plan without a trial. This information is indicated in the descriptions of these plans and on the final confirmation of the subscription choice.
Absolutely horrible customer service. I forgot to cancel a subscription and requested a refund the day they billed me. I got an email a few hours later stating that per their terms of service, they could only refund me $160 of the $240 I was charged. I read the terms of service, and it does not state a refund limit ANYWHERE. I had to email them back twice to get a response and they ended up refunding me nearly all of it (they still have $20) and said it was out of "goodwill". I am in absolute shock. Horrible company.
Hello Ash, Thank you for your feedback. Yes, our refund policy does not imply a full refund due to licensing agreements https://musescore.com/legal/terms. Quote: "For annual subscriptions, if you cancel your subscription during the first fourteen (14) days of your subscription term you can receive different offers from MuseScore depending on your usage period and activity (see 4.4) including receiving a refund of the difference between the then-in-effect and current annual subscription fee to which You are subscribed and the then-in-effect and current monthly subscription fee. Your account’s auto-renew function will be turned off and no recurring periodic charges will be charged at the end of the subscription term. As a courtesy to you we will convert your Account to a free account."
Wish I had come here first. As with so many others here, I was mislead regarding the free trial. Card was charged and the 1 score I wanted to download, was unavailable due to copywrites. What a waste! My refund request was submitted, but reading here I don't expect much in the way of consideration. Crooked company!
This company is the WORST! Tried to sign up for a free trial and they charged me for a whole year. When I explained to them their site was misleading and wanted a refund they offered me a partial refund. Wow terrible business, everyone stay away from this company. They are shady and greedy people.
Hello Matthew, Thank you for your feedback. Yes, some of our subscription plans do not include a free trial period. This information is indicated in the descriptions of these plans. However, these plans are offered with a good discount. Yes, our refund policy does not imply a full refund due to licensing agreements https://musescore.com/legal/terms.
Apparently the company claims the free trial was not "clicked on" in the subscription process so they charged my card in full for an annual subscription. I cancelled within 5 minutes and now they will not refund the money. They are only willing to refund 25% of my money yet I never used the service and again cancelled within 5 minutes of their charging my credit card. This is a complete scam. Stay away!
Signed up for the trial period and neglected to cancel in time. Asked for a refund and got the same canned response as other people and had no initial reply to my request for a full refund. After filing a dispute with PayPal I got a reply from them saying they would give a full refund but couldn't when the dispute in Paypal was open.
That last bit is simply not the case. Paypal states on their dispute page that they do not advise cancelling a dispute UNTIL the refund is issued. I've replied with this information to them and am awaiting any sort of refund.
Don't be fool with their free 7 days trial subscription. They will lead you into purchasing their non-trial subscription and charge you the annual fee. I can't believe they are scamming the poor musicians.
Hello, Thank you for your feedback. We provide a plan that includes a 7-day free trial period. This plan is activated by clicking the "Start Free Trial" button. However, if you opt for the "Special Offer" during the subscription process, the free trial will not be available.
To be brief: DON'T EVER SUBSCRIBE!
I took the one year abonnement at 69.99$ last year, it was fine until recently.
I got billed 209.97$ out of the blue without any warning of an increase in price.
I am currently asking for a refund, will see how it goes...
Clicked a link for a free trial and was charged nearly $100AUD immediately.
There are so many reports of this happening it's clear the site is designed this way to trick people. After several support requests they have refunded nearly 80% of the amount. DON'T ACCEPT THIS! You can still file a chargeback with your bank and get all the money back. The best part is that each chargeback costs them money, particularly if they've split it across two charges. If they get enough chargebacks their merchant account will be closed, so please keep doing this! Do not accept their refunds! You are owned the full amount if they have tricked you with their free trial scam!
For my MYP Personal Project, I decided to compose a musical piece for the piano. When searching for a suitable app for me, I came across Musescore 3 and downloaded it. It was amazing.
I consider myself an intermediate when it comes to music. For someone of my skill level, the app was extremely easy to use. I was able to find almost everything I needed in the palette (I added extra things that I needed to it). Moreover, I could even personalize many components in my score. In the case I had any problems, I could look at their website and find answers. This last thing was extremely useful too. It is worth mentioning that you can share your score with others and vice versa, which works very well seeing that people are creating new scores daily.
I don't know about the free trial though, as I decided to use the free version all along. So, I won't give my opinion on that. However, I don't think that it is really their fault, judging from other reviews I saw.
Answer: You can contact MuseScore Customer Service at support@musescore.com. They will reply to you within 24 hours or faster.
The company's reputation is significantly marred by numerous customer complaints regarding deceptive subscription practices and poor customer service. Many users report being misled into signing up for costly subscriptions under the guise of a free trial, with challenges in obtaining refunds despite prompt cancellation requests. While some customers appreciate the quality of the MuseScore app and its extensive sheet music offerings, the overarching sentiment reflects frustration over perceived scams and inadequate support. This combination of positive product feedback and negative service experiences suggests a critical need for the company to enhance transparency and customer care.
