Main Street Renewal has been horrible to work with. No one returns our calls or texts, even after being promised someone would reach out. They are a total scam and fraud. Do not waste your time or money with this laughable company.

I was away at work and received a call due to my alarm going off. Viewed camera heavy set male entering my property. The key code on property has a master unlock which he used on his phone. Rent never past due and no work assignment. Van in driveway didn't have property name. Called police and inform it was someone from Main Street. A week later still no one can provide me as to why did he enter my home. It's scary and been scared to stay there in fear even if I change the code they have a master code to enter. Be careful

DO NOT RENT or DO BUSINESS WITH MAINSTREET RENEWAL
February 15, 2023

This company is by far the absolute worst property management company I have ever had to deal with. From trying to get a tour of the property, the application process, the approval, the inspection & move in date; everything went horribly wrong. There was no fridge, the keyless pad code given does not & has not worked. There were and still are roaches everywhere. Small ones, called German roaches so there are nests in the walls. We still have yet to get a call or email back. This is not worth what we paid for deposit & first month's rent. The AC units don't have any control buttons. One won't turn on, the other stuck on 61 degrees. There is not one person responsible for the property so nobody is held accountable. They just keep creating maintenance tickets for things that do not get done..

Not a bad experience
March 20, 2022

After reading all the negative reviews I thought "what am I getting myself into". But my experience hasn't been that bad. You may have to stay on top of a maintenance request but they will get to it. They don't bother like some landlords so you do have your privacy. So far I've had 2 maintenance request and they were attended to. Let's see how everything goes!

Contacting a lawyer
February 5, 2023

I moved out of the property back in November under their forgiveness program. Sent pics and email in regard to moving out. They are still charging me monthly rent after moving out on agreed date. The scam is to have you leave charge you for a property you are not in while someone new pays rent. I am contacting a attorney in regards to this issue.

Application Fee Scam
April 22, 2024

This company will take multiple applications and fees from multiple applicants without letting any applicant know that if another person is approved you lose your application fee. What a scam to use application fees as revenue. I, for one, would not apply for a rental knowing others are ahead of me and I could lose my application fee. Don't fall for this... Ask if others have applied, then decide if you want to risk your application fee. Simple openness is all one can ask for... Find another leasing firm.

I have rented with mainstreet for about 10 months now & there has been a few problems but that's always going to happen, maintenance requests are always fulfilled, don't believe everything you see on the internet. The house i'm staying at was built in the 1950's and surprisingly hasn't had many problems

Hello,
We have been renting from Mainstreet for 3 years now. No problems. Our maintenance requests were handled promptly. Of course, we were late on our rent during the pandemic, but we communicated with the office each time, paid the late fee, and there was no problem. The energy you put out is what you receive back. We are only moving because we were victims of crime, if this had not happened we would still be staying. My experience is not your experience. Well wishes to future renters

Water heater is dead on arrival. Only option is to pay ourselves or hope one of the vendor technicians wins a bid on how cheap they can replace it for. MSR will not reimburse you. Not sure how legal it is to rent a home that isn't liveable on day 1. Yes, this didn't work from the start of our lease. We've had two technicians come out who could not fix the heater

MSR support is extremely impersonal. It's basically 1 giant call center that routes any issues to vendors. Our (non-certified) leasing agent primarily responded by email unless we called and happened to get her. No direct number. The home itself is great, besides the lack of hot water. But can I really attribute that to the management company.

And because it's now Saturday our chances of talking to anyone who can help us is slim to none. Great first week for a new Main Street Renewal customer! /s

Update: 7/11. MSR Provided a concession for the 6 days the water was out. I had calculated the amount I requested by taking rent and dividing it by 30 days. They gave me $15/day less for a total of $90 less than expected. I suppose that's fair since it was just the water.

After having the worst frustrating experience trying to rent a home in the Palm Bay area, I came across MSR and after few phone calls, the person handling my application LOLA BARNES personally called me, she listened to all the frustration I had, and took ownership of the situation, making me feel that she cared and assured me she was going to work directly with me. She went few steps out of her way, and in less than 24hrs we finally have place to call home. Is because of employees like Lola, that I intend to be a long term resident at MSR. She's a true blessing, Thank you.

I put in an application and was told it was denied I was informed that a 2019 court filing was made for non payment however I was able to obtain my payment history and proof of dismissal I disputed with saferent to have that removed Off my credit I hope that MSR will look at my rental history and reconsider as I have no evictions or landlord tenant issues the house was beautiful and the process was quick

I wish I saw these reviews before we moved into this place. The home was in crappy condition when we moved in but we were grateful because we searched for a house for 6 months. However, after two years of living here our water heater burst and hell was unleashed. Water seeped into our kitchen floors and walls. It took them 2 months to get us a new water heater, and that was only because the contractor expedited it without approval from MSR. That's was just the heater. We went a month and a half without kitchen walls, insulation, and flooring. AC seeped out of the literal holes in our walls so the power bill skyrocketed. The worst of it was that because water sat for so long without them coming to fix it, mold grew in our kitchen. Best part? MSR covered it up and pretended like it wasn't there. When the mold was clearly visible. If it wasn't for our contractor we would have been screwed for god knows how long. These guys truly do not care. They don't care about their property- they own a third of all Georgia homes so what do they care if one or two is condemned? They don't care about the human beings living in it- they allowed mold to not only grow but were very eager to cover it up. We are shocked at the sheer apathy this company has for its tenets. We are looking into taking legal action.

Beware, indian scammers! This company stole 100$ from me. And the lady on the phone is incredibly rude, disrespectful and will double talk you! Be aware you had you money over to when doing a application!

Awful
July 22, 2024

Alabama Code § 35-9A-204 requires the landlord to maintain the property in a safe and habitable condition. Currently they are not. I moved into a Main Street property on 7/5/24. It is now 7/12 and I have not had working AC the whole time. It is 85° INSIDE MY HOUSE, with the upstairs area reaching 93°.

A technician came out once (Courtney) to identify the issue, and I had to turn the unit off to allow it to defrost. When it was charged with freon the next day, it worked for a couple hours before failing again. I walked outside to look at it and saw it had frozen up again.

In order to get any scrap of an update, I have to call in because their resident portal does not work (or at least mine doesn't).

So far, this has been a terrible, uncomfortable, downright painful experience and I will be seeking legal assistance to terminate my lease should this not be resolved expeditiously.

Also, the lockbox codes to get the keys do not work and I have not been contacted with information as to how to get them. Currently I can only access the property via the smart lock and the garage.

Mainstreet renewal customer service is a joke. Every time you call, the representatives read from a scrip and tell you the exact same BS. When asked to speak to a supervisor they tell me they do not exist. We had our final walk thru and was told everything was perfect and nothing needed to be done. We are at day 40 and have heard nothing from the company. I have texted, called, and emailed and never get a response. When you call they tell me to be patient! I have been patient and as of today, they are out of compliance per FL law. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY. THEIR PRICES ARE SO MUCH HIGHER. YOU ARE JUST A NUMBER AND THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THEIR RESIDENTS.

They turned off my daughter's water on 9/4 in am. Rent has never been late. Why are they not paying the water bill. It is a Florida law to provide water. No response as to why and when it will be resolved. She has an infant. This is criminal.
Today 10/3 - the rental company added the shut off water and turn on water fees to the rent -
It's the management company that pays the water bill

I have lived next door to a rental home managed by this company for several years now. I am about to retain a lawyer! The pool in the backyard of the rental home has leaked and washed my yard out for years. It has also damaged my fence. They filled the pool in a couple of weeks ago instead of repairing it. They didn't tell me or ask me about when they would need to do that work to the pool. They have torn a large swath of my grass out, damaged my fence even more, and broke my sprinkler system. I have tried calling but cannot get anyone on the line. I can't find an email address anywhere to contact them. This is unacceptable - please do not rent from this management company. The last neighbors in that house complained for 4 years and got NOTHING repaired.

Collecting fees!
April 28, 2024

This company denied my application within 4 hours. Check my credit reports 'no inquiry' no letter stating reason for denial. Call customer support, terrible customer service. Check to see if anyone ran a background check, no inquiry. They took my 200.00 application fee and didn't run a check on me or the other applicants. After reading other reviews, I'm grateful I don't have to deal with thus company. But disappointed that I too was taken advantage of.

Horrific!
September 8, 2024

Main Street left me and my child without air for eight days the first time. The temperature was over 98° outside and we both have asthma so therefore we had to stay in a hotel for eight days. They would schedule an appointment and the technician just wouldn't show up so we would be moved to the next day. Then, of course when he finally did show up, he couldn't fix it so there goes another day. Finally was able to fix it. He had unplugged my freezer and by the time I realized it all of my food had gone bad because the freezer was in the garage. About two weeks later it goes out again. So obviously they don't know what they're doing and here we are without air another four days. Main street refuses to pay us back for the food loss or the hotel stay or anything claiming they fixed it in the right amount of time. Their website guarantees 72 hours, I don't believe eight days and 72 hours anyway you look at it
