My partner (Alexandra Fierra) previously used this company and had a great experience. Today, however, was horrific. We specifically stated our house was up 30 stairs, measured, did all due diligence to prepare for the piano to be moved into our home months in advance. The movers arrived in a U-haul truck, were incredibly small men, and were unable to do the job. They tipped over our piano and damaged the front (this is a very expensive piano). They then had the gall to try to get my partner to sign off liability. When she refused, the man with a baseball cap yelled at her, and accused her of not sending correct measurements (not true, why would we spend 5.5k to not give the correct information for moving in a very expensive antique piano?) We have worked with professional movers, and in no way were these so called "movers" in any way experienced. When Alexandra called and spoke to Russ, he showed no concern or apologies and instead only replied "I'll talk to the guys and see what they say" in a monotone voice. To say this was a shocking and gutting experience would be an understatement. This is an antique 1800s piano we have been waiting for from the east coast for months to be restored, to experience this at the end of it all. Stay far away from this company. And how dare you Modern Piano Moving for hiring these types of people to move antique pianos. We have also done a charge back on our credit card.
Russ Vitt is the owner of MPM. Rush Vitt has no honor.
He knows very well what unspeakable crime he has committed against our precious musical instrument that has been taken good care of as a treasure of the family. Rush Vitt talks smoothly like a lawyer and his tactics are from some unspeakable profession, which surely should have nothing to do with music.
Modern Piano Moving has moved our baby grand three times. Every move was smooth and professional. Their personnel were very personable and friendly. Schedules were communicated and followed. They treated our piano like it was their own. Thanks for a GREAT experience.
Of course long distance moves are expensive, but at least MPV gave me a senior discount. We purchased a new home in Washington state. I had my piano in climate controlled storage with my local piano mover in Colorado. Once we had an address for where the piano needed to be moved, MPV handled everything and the piano arrived in perfect condition.
The owner, Russ Vitt, hired unqualified workers to move our piano, which resulted in the keyboard cover being damaged. Russ Vitt refused to utilize the insurance policy we have paid for, instead, he get a quick fix that is of the same quality as his integrity. I do not believe that he actually bought insurance for our piano. I do believe that he is taking advantage of the fact that we cannot sue him because he is in another state.
It was hard to say goodbye to my baby grand piano as it was wrapped up in blankets very snuggly and warm on a cold winter day in January of 2022. The crew that took her out of our home and loaded her onto the moving truck were experienced and careful.
When our new home was finished enough in January, 2023, we welcomed the same wonderful guys back to delivery my piano to her new home! What a wonderful day! Again, they were so careful to get her into the house and set her up. They did an excellent job and I highly recommend Modern Piano Movers to anyone in need of climate controlled storage and moving.
Modern Piano Moving did a great job moving my late aunt's piano from coast to coast. They were on time, professional, and provided great communication to allow us to properly plan. They came highly recommended by our piano tuner and did not disappoint. Modern Piano Moving provided a positive moving experience!
Modern Piano Moving has collaborated with us, Piano Moving World LLC (833-PIANO-US), on multiple occasions. Our most recent collaboration was at our piano storage (pianomovingworld.org), when their client purchased a piano from one of our clients, and the company came to pick it up. Very professional, friendly and well-equipped.
I normally do not write reviews, but I thought it might help others when they are trying to decide who to hire when they need a piano mover.
After getting quotes from 3 different companies, I hired Modern Piano to move our grand piano from Florida to Utah in May of 2020, even though they were the most expensive, based on a recommendation from our piano tuner. After doing some research and reading some reviews online about them, I decided to hire them.
Here is what they did wrong:
- The piano was not delivered in a climate controlled vehicle as promised, but in a U-Haul.
- The piano was unloaded and reloaded on multiple vehicles before it was delivered, again contrary to what was promised.
- The pedal assembly was missing because they mistakenly unloaded it in Texas.
- They took another two weeks to deliver the pedal assembly.
- When asked if they would install the pedal assembly, they told us to get a piano tuner to do it.
- The screws to attach the pedal assembly were not with it. They were finally found in the piano bench.
- They did not keep me informed about the delivery status of the pedal assembly but had to be contacted about it.
- A partial refund was not offered.
- No one ever responded to my complaints.
Summary of my experience:
- Their customer service is very poor.
- They don't deliver on their promises.
- They don't take responsibility for their mistakes.
