Opted for the 3 month free delivery option. Next order they were trying to charge me $12+ for delivery by Instacart. I gave them feedback and received no response. I cancelled my order.
Don't trust these liars.
The first issue was my card being double charged.Second was cancelling another order without telling me why. 15 min on hold waiting to speak to someone. The 15% charge on top of what your order costs. Ridiculous. They do not know how to do online properly.

Worst attitude from manager I have ever encountered. Would not take vouchers from The Grocery Foundation that had Metro logo on them. I showed several pieces of ID and still. I think they did not want to do the extra work on there end. Pathetic. Sorry to interrupt you eating a ham sandwich manager.
Also, the highest food prices across Ontario. Waste of time and money. Avoid...avoid...avoid.

So... I have been ordering groceries from Metro. Since it was going well I decided to buy a membership. This was on December 18th. Apparently I click something to say I do not want e-mails. I needed to update my pass word, but I cannot get the e-mail, to reset, the password, because of what I clicked. Seems like something that should be resolved easily right? I have called on-line support. Each time they say...oh there is a block on your account, I need you permission to reset it. So I give my permission. They say...so you will have to wait a week. Check you e-mail, spam folder. You should receive it in a week. So I wait...nothing. I have given my permission at least 6 times to take the block off. This has been going on for 2 month. I paid a 129.00 for grocery delivery for a year...and I have not been able to use. It! DO NOT BY A MEMBERSHIP FROM METRO. YOU WILL LOSE YOUR MONEY.
Here is the kicker...I get all the advertising e-mails.
I waited at least 10 minutes at the deli counter and made eye contact with at least 3 employees. All of them ignored me until an employee from another area of the store asked them how long they were going to ignore me.
The metro on Chemong street in Peterborough is disgusting he rude should be fired he treat special need women disgusting and there two other one a cart boy and a blonde lady. If they don't one certain people to being in bags and than bring back plastic bag. Delivery was 1h late. 2 basic products missing (of 20 ordered). Produce was really not ripe, inedible. Price, ok. Communication ok. First order placed due to metro offered incentive. Will think hard of another order.
Are you kidding me? The metro near me used to be open 24 hours a day until Covid. I understand that Covid changed a lot of things but now, this place is closed at 10:00 PM on a Friday night. Are you kidding me? What kind of service is this? I will answer that: it's no service. Maybe it's time to find another place because this place does not serve the public anymore
The worse grocery store!You can't take their shopping carts with your grocery items inside the carts to your car in that big and far away parking lot that's far away! At Metro, and at self service area They don't give you bags to put your grocery items in them to carry the grocery to the car! And you can't park the car close to the store because it's fire route!So what your customers should do than? How they supposed to carry their heavy groceries to their cars? On their heads?! Tell me how?! You don't let us take your carts to our cars and you don't give us plastic or any kind of bags, absolutely nothing, zero! Than they yell at us and treat us like $#*! and they harass customers at the door of this Metro store!
This was my second online order with metro and my last. This order...my online total was $74 but I was charged 145. I would think a different of this size would get flagged but no. I had ordered the seafood boils advertised in the flyer 600g average 13.21. I orded 3. However I was given 3 seafood boil@ $30 each when I question this I was told that they only offer them in bigger sizes. In other words the size in the flyer was falsely advertised ie show a small one that isn't available and sell them larger ones for more. Isn't that illegal?
Metro is a fraud, most expensive for nothing. Raised most prices 20% for "inflation" but made 10% more profit last quarter so screwing poor customers. Also king of food waste keeping overpriced perishable foods on shelves to rot to garbage instead of dropping price, throwing away tons of food that could feed poor families. Plus we're paying more for less service, no regular cashes open, just quick pay so we have to do more work by scanning and bagging while 5-6 kids standing in front getting paid to make disgusting jokes. What a scam!
We've been doing groceries online for like a month at Metro and every time they mess up our order. They substitute unsweetened milk with sugar milk, gluten free pizza with regular one. Who does that? I am 100$ more in products in loss as I need to discard those products I cannot use. You cannot even ask for a refund, the website is a scam for refunds, it allows you only 7 digits for an order when asking for 8-10 to be able to submit online! What a $#*!show! I am dropping them!
Today, Dec 19/2023, I visited the Metro in Newmarket to purchase gingerbread cookies for a friend. Upon observing the cookies, I noticed they were smaller than expected, with no size information provided. When politely inquiring about their return policy at the cash register, the cashier (Anna) responded disrespectfully. Instead of a straightforward yes or no, she questioned my purchase, asking, "If you want to return, why are you buying?" and then she suggested I should take a picture for my friend before buying.
I clarified that I was uncertain about the size and, without opening the box, asked if it was returnable. Rudely and coldly, Anna then stated that if I didn't open it and had a receipt, a return was possible. Her attitude was disheartening.
Upon expressing my dissatisfaction as I left, Anna directed me to her manager, a man she had been chatting with. When I explained the situation, Anna repeatedly interrupted, attempting to justify herself. Despite my polite inquiry, the manager, rather than resolving the issue or apologizing, expressed discomfort with customers having such discussions. Unfortunately, he was unhelpful, and it seemed Anna was confident that the manager would support her regardless of her behavior.
I frequent the Metro near my home in ottawa. I have witnessed a few employees that are rude and where quick to harass customers. There is a very high percentage of expired food that has been put on sale it happened to me so often I think that people should be warned to check expired dates specifically on sale items..
Metro demands a 2-hour delivery window for groceries, while Walmart only needs 1 hour. In spite of that my Metro delivery was still over an hour late. Given that Metro's prices are far higher than Walmart, this pathetic service for delivery is inexcusable. But don't worry, this was my first and LAST instance of doing business with Metro.
It is incredible that Metro webpage had all meat products with prices that are wrong (cheaper). Do they do that to cheat on customers to buy at higher prices? I don't know, but will never buy from them. Such a waste of time.
I was with my friend and we're teens and we're wearing crop tops. We were getting gum from our bag and they tried kicking us out thinking we were stealing until we explain d it was our gum from weeks ago, which you could tell because the wrapper part was very ripped up and had water damage. They then proceeded to stare us down the rest of the time we were in there and was visibly looking at our boobs. We heard them make a comment on our short shirts and saying something about us being disgusting for wearing them. They then told us not to come back because they felt like they were babysitting us when we just bought some kd packs. I feel dirty and I will never shop there again, and neither should you.
I have used Metro online grocery three times. The first was a disaster when the delivery was left outside my door without my doorbell being used to alert me. I have mobility problems so could not go up and down stairs to check. The second time was relatively good as was the third time until I realized my credit card was overcharged by over $100. After four calls to the help line I was assured the adjustment would be effected within 24-48 hours. Well today is day 10 and my credit card has yet to be credited. I was not given an explanation as to why this happened. So. Keep your eyes on your credit card!

Metro, at 3090 Bathurst Street, had their plain clothes security Indian looking guy, racially profiled me for weeks and last night I reached my limit and confronted him and let him know that I knew who he was and that I was recording him for weeks, he just said "yeah?", dropped his fake shopping meat back in the freezer and disappeared….the night before, I watched him the night before and watched him put his fake shopping in his hold up buggy by customer service leaving meat, juice and milk more than two hours out the fridge, and not in accordance with health Canada regulations, just so he can stalk and follow black people only, while the white people walking off with stuff in the boobs, crotch and pockets, but they too busy harassing black people. Shopping while black, well I took my business elsewhere and walked out because I would never shop there again, nor would I ever give them another dime, after spending $2500 monthly there and minding my own business, I still can't shop in peace, we'll the night before, he did the same thing so I turned it around on him, by turning around and following up down every isle to see how he liked it, looks like he was uncomfortable 😳, well sir, that's how it feels. I have my recordings, and I intend to file a human rights complaint. Bunch of losers discriminating, kept watching, didn't see him, not once, followed the white people, well now that I have him picture and recording, I let every black person I know share it, complete idiot!
Answer: A scam. Much more expensive than any other store for less service and pretty dirty with many price tag errors. Also worst for food waste, rather let rot than drop price. Had full rack of local lettuce at 5$ a head that was already rotten. Metro is a fraud.
Answer: Yes all of them, Walmart, Loblaws, Provigo, IGA, Super C, and any other store that sells food will be cheaper with better service.
