This website is like Wikipedia, in that it is ran and gatekept by random individuals of a mostly far-left political bias. This is extremely disappointing, it means bands do not receive honest, unbiased information or reviews applied to them.

I tested their bias after seeing a concerning post by moderators and VIP user's where they openly admitted their bias, in which reviews they are likely to allow and how they review some bands.
"I've also given some positive reviews to RABM bands that not only promote progressive and left-leaning thought, but also have some excellent riffs."

To test their bias, I posted a detailed review several paragraphs long which was positive but didn't follow the guidelines, their guidelines, for a left wing and a right wing band, only the left wing band was approved.

I then followed the guidelines and wrote a negative review for a left wing and right wing band. The negative review for the left wing band was rejected.

Sickening level of bias rendering this website useless.

Furthermore the website is extremely toxic, moderators I noticed post reviews they dislike on the public forum to humiliate and ridicule people. This is a common far-left tactic dating back to the Bolsheviks or more recently practiced on Reddit along with 'brigading'.
The website is also elitist in that the moderators will ignore many subgenre's if they dislike them.

Use Discogs instead, it without bias show's every artists' discography.

If your band is rejected they will say hatful things too you. The people that made this site are not Christian so no Christian bands should go. My music is political so if they don't like the political lyrics they will rejected you.

I've been checking out Encyclopaedia Metallum for years and it's still great even though it has not changed a bit. Perhaps that's a good thing because there's nothing wrong with it and there is no need to "modernise" it in any way. It does exactly what it intends to do and there is really nothing to compare it to. You can find information about the most obscure bands out there and find some unknown gems from your country.

One of those visually pathetic sites that hope to gain by "stylish" dark design and darker still attitude. To break in thru to membership registration is an ordeal of fighting the "not a robot" guard who apparently tests your stamina by re-sending you back. When finally one is in he/she discovers having been cheated for the sake of "beefy" membership boast whereas he/she is no different from outsider. This applies to album reviewing as all your "drafts" are rejected offhand and serve a raw matter to be further credited to the moderator/editor. The "disciple fresher" is only entitled to studying a volume of the moderator "rules" and FAQ with no hope to ever pass the exam and graduate. About same hard treatment to the visitor, information hunter. The moderator here is hugely biased and imposes his "opinions" but, ooops, zero artist's background, so you address elsewhere. When and if you manage the cheeky navigation, you are likely to trip on the small brown lettering on the black background (or vice versa). Tripping is sin and rule violation here so you get banned for good. They call it metal attitude.

This site rocks. I have been using it to find metal bands of all genres since it first came out many years ago. The site navigation is very intuitive and it is fun to look through bands and research new music. Great site!
