MaxSold

I have bid on several of Max Sold's auctions, and won a few great lots for prices as low as $1.00! For instance I won an auction in the next town over from where I live that was a collection of five brand new lampshades still in their original packaging, that were not an expensive when purchased at retail price, and I only had to pay one dollar for all of them! For anybody that knows how expensive lampshades really are, it makes checking out a Max Sold auction a no brainer! They are very organized and every step of the process from organizing the auction for the sellers, to making the process of picking up auction items for winners a process that doesn't require waiting in line and keeps the flow moving. Kudos to them for cornering the idea of the online estate sale and such a well thought out approach. Their customer service is also always top-notch. I've posted 2 of the 5 new lampshades I got, which breaks down to $0.20 each! The large grey one retails for $50.00! You can see it is still in its original packaging. What a bargain!

I had posted a pretty negative review earlier today for a couple of reasons: First was the amount of the check we received after our auction. They took 41% commission from a relatively small estate auction they did for us last month. We thought that was too high. (I misread the contract clause regarding commissions - 3 times!, so part of it was my bad.)
Second was that we had called to discuss the results/commissions last week, left a message, and had not received a response. There were a few other issues as well, but that, basically, was it. No one likes to feel ignored. This afternoon I received a call from a gentleman in their corporate office who addressed each of our concerns, discussed some details, and explained their methodology. The software issue now makes some sense, but I'd like for them to find a better way to handle one-off bids. After our conversation and a little feather-smoothing (listening and understanding our viewpoint), my husband and I are more satisfied with the whole experience.

A Buyer's Perspective:

MaxSold has become an obsession. I am a widow and not rich, but I have gotten some of the nicest furniture from MaxSold auctions. It makes me feel rich. I buy from about one a month. (Sometimes two in one day, though! When I'm feeling really energetic.) I've always liked real-life auctions but the online auctions run by MaxSold are even better. I can take my time, study the pictures, evaluate the space in my house, and consider how much work it will be to pick it up. And then I can set a high bid and they do the work for me.

---Best buy so far: a bed worth 2300 for 112 bucks. (like new--sleigh bed priced at 450 new and a queen-sized Sleep Number platform and mattress!)
---Most loved buys so far: a few pieces of pottery I love, a Keurig coffee maker, and a drop leaf side table.

It always feels a bit like a party when we pick up our items. The employees and the other buyers are always helpful and friendly and when the owners who are downsizing are present, I've always enjoyed talking to them and finding out where they are going. I've met some of the most interesting people--some going to nursing homes, but one couple retiring to a South Seas island.

I tell everyone I know about MaxSold (I've gotten some friends from all over the country buying now), and now I've told you. So much fun for the whole family and, honestly? I usually spend less than it would cost to take the kids to dinner and the movies.

I own and operate ClutterBGone, our client was looking to clear all the contents from his late parents home to get the home ready for sale. From the start of the auction process it was simple. Right from the first contact with MaxSold regarding my interest in hosting a "Seller Managed" online auction, MaxSold representatives were available to assist, encourage and support me through every step of the process. Every person with whom I spoke (and there were many throughout the time it took for me to collect all the items I wanted to sell, separate into 'lots', photograph, and catalogue in the MaxSold app) proved to be a capable, friendly, knowledgeable coach who left me excited about MaxSold and motivated about my upcoming sale event — to the extent that I was able to have the sale a week earlier than the tentative date stated in my contract! Am more than happy with the results and would definitely consider selling through MaxSold again.

Having worked at an auction house and been to many estate sales I knew what to expect. I had all my sold items in the garage or near exits so customers didn't have to enter more then necessary. Nothing got damaged no one was hurt. No one was unsatisfied. The pick up day went smooth even though only a handful of people showed up on time, but hey what do you expect from strangers? I can hardly get family and friends to show up on time to an event. There were some customers who tried to park in other peoples driveways (of course people are stupid and inconsiderate). My parents always told me if you want something done right do it yourself. So if you think hiring an auction company to do it all for you and you are expecting the best results you are wrong. You are just hiring strangers who don't really care what the outcome is because no matter what they are getting paid hourly. If you don't want something stolen or sold by auction crew or real estate managers after you have left the property then secure your precious items you dummies. I highly recommend doing seller managed auction because if something is not right then it will be your own fault. I enjoyed using maxsold seller managed auction and would do it again.

After purchasing several hard-to-find items at MaxSold auctions int he Greater Toronto Area, I'm happy to say my experience with both the individual events and MaxSold as a whole have been very positive. There is a slight difference between the "Seller Managed" and the auctions run by MaxSold staff, (I prefer the latter) but it is obvious MaxSold does a great job of instructing the independent sellers on how to run their events. Overall, a great service to the community, and a wonderful place to stumble across rare and unique items.

So if a seller decides to cloak an item as a rare find only to have it turn into a reprinted item, Maxsold said it is FINE for someone to do that and it is BUYER beware? I have spent thousands of dollars on this site and have never been taken, but this one time I need them to step up, they don't. Well MAXSOLD I am done spending my money on your site if that is how you are going to do BUSINESS. STAY AWAY from this circus if you have any issues.

I have been a collector of a LOT of things and am downsizing now. I didn't have a lot of faith that you could sell most of my things. BUT you DID I am such a happy camper! During the sale your people did EVERYTHING while I read a book! Friendly and knew what they were doing. It went so smooth Thank You Please let them know how much I appreciated them.

Very poor pictures. They do not show what is really in a lot or any damage. I usually give some items to a thrift store if the lot has too much of what I don't want but this last time I actually had to throw a lot of it in the trash. The pictures showed stuff in a big box which was all damaged and went in the trash. One box of dishes says 24 pieces but not all of it was there. During a heat wave the house had no A/C and was the pick up was behind. They sort through a pile of paper listing to find my items then I have to wait for a person to take me to the items and stand over me. Some of the items were on the floor but I was offered no assistance. Since I am a senior I don't get up and down well. Then I had to carry a lot of "junk" to my car. The basement stuff said "outside access" but I had to either climb numerous outside steps to get it to my car OR find another way which I did on investigating on my own. You can get some good stuff but be careful and try to look at what pictures they have carefully. Ask questions on line but don't expect a quick answer. I told MaxSold about some of my concerns on their survey and the response was "I'm sorry you had a bad day"
