All of the process was easy and efficient. The videos really helped and I received prompt responses to any and all e mails and calls. This was the best way ever to dispose of all of the item of my dad's estate. So much better than organizing things to be sold on my own and/or sending them to charity! And all completed in the 11 days stated.
I have made a number of purchases through MaxSold, some have been great deals, others have been great items, but I keep coming back because you never know what you may find! Quick easy way to empty out a space as well, I have recommended MS to many friends, both buyers and sellers, and will happily continue to use the service!
When I went to pick up my stuff there were helpers there to give mea hand. Thanks goes out to Jack, Mike and Mikes wife whose name I never got for helping me load up my car. Register, Bid what you want to pay, when you win you get an invoice with your totals, your pick up times and the address. Show up with people to help you, a vehicle large enough to haul everything and boxes. Check in with the lead and the team will take you to your stuff. Pay attention to the details in the photos on the website catalog - sometimes there's more stuff than you think there is. If you have tons of small breakable items you are probably going to be one of the first ones scheduled to pick up as you need to pack up your stuff so the bigger items can be moved. There is a ton of stuff that goes on and it can be hectic. Pay attention - get in, get your stuff, and get out. Easy. Great Deals.
I have to admit to being skeptical of this process to start with but I am totally sold now. Sometimes the prices go quite high (good for the seller) and sometimes they go quite low (good for the buyer). I have found the descriptions to generally be accurate and the process of bidding as well as picking up to be quite organized. The major advantage to the seller is that your stuff is sold and gone in a short time period. For a buyer, you don't have to spend all day at a brick & mortar auction or drive all over town to yard sales. Shop from the comfort of your home & make one trip to pick everything up.
I bought two table lamps on the Maxsold site. It was easy to bid and the two minute extension brought fairness to the auction, making it very similarly to a live auction. I arrived at the scheduled pickup time and was pleased there was no lineup. I was in and out in less than three minutes and the items were exactly as presented on the auction site.
The efficiency by which Maxsold thought through their process for pick up is well organized. The treasures you can find are unlimited. The only critique is the consistency of the staff at the pickups are very varied.
MaxSold never disappoints... unless you've lost out on a bid that is :) In the Ottawa region, the staff have always been friendly and helpful whenever I go to pick up auction items AND selling with them? INCREDIBLE. I ran into some user-troubles at first and within a day, a form was built for me to submit my items using a PC and photos that way too. They could not have been more accommodating or helpful. It's been a great way to clear the clutter AND purchase some interesting items without battling the snow storms.
I spend a lot of time on line. Some of that is spent browsing MaxSold for great buys on all kinds of things from furniture, knick knacks, dog stuff and artwork. This is a great company that cares about its buyers and customer service is impeccable. I have been a MaxSold buyer for about 10 years and have no complaints whatsoever. I have never been disappointed with my 'finds' and have scored some amazing bargains. It always surprises me when someone says that they have never heard of MaxSold. When it comes time to downsize, I know who to call to get it done quickly, efficiently and fairly.
I have spent thousands of dollars at maxsold auctions recently i had a purchase and due to gall bladder surgery sent my son this was not a seller managed this was maxsold he was given a box and told this is your lot after getting home items were missing i sent an email and was told they were checking with the seller and never responded with feedback. I can say in the past I have purchased and the maxsold employee say you also have this but on this occasion they did not they had no idea what was or was not in your lot. If I pay an auction fee I expect the employee to know what is mine and what is not. There are alot of other auction sites that are far more professional. I will not use this site ever again.
Well after I wrote my review they reinstated me, As a buyer, I enjoy the experience of Maxsold. Being able to browse what is essentially a series of large garage sales from the comfort of my recliner, and not needing to be an early-birder to find items of interest, is very convenient. My biggest problem is controlling the impulse to buy more items than I actually need -- how can I turn down a selection of power tools for only $5?
As a seller, trying to navigate the Maxsold experience is either A) expensive and not worth your time or B) time consumingly confusingly frustrating. Read the reviews--they are a from buyers. I do not recommend them.
I overpaid and got shafted with everything I bought from this guy (Mike New Jersey based Max Sold) He puts high value on junk. I spent a couple of hundred dollars and was thourghly coned. Skip them altogether. If you call or see or speak to a very fat guy who's name is Mike that is a King Con Artist.He skims all the good stuff and sells the low value at high prices.
It's disappointing that we provided this customer an unsatisfactory experience. Although requests made after pickup are considered on a case by case basis (as they are outside the agreed to terms and conditions of bidding noted below), we are committed to being fair to all our customers. With that said, the following attempts to highlight the process, performance rate, and method used to avoid disappointment for all potential buyers on Maxsold's platform.
Maxsold has two models - Maxsold Managed and Seller Managed. In one offering Maxsold is never on site and therefore has no visibility of the items sold. In the other, our teams catalog and thus have a bit more awareness of the items. That said, regardless of who is cataloging, both honest mistakes and dishonest actions can occur - thus, Maxsold uses a transparent claims process that has worked for centuries in the live auction world - specifically, the buyer is to inspect the item at pickup in full view of the Seller/auction staff and/or other buyers and make a claim (partial/full refund) if the item is found to be in a condition other than what was described before leaving the site. In both models, the process is the same and is outlined in the bidder terms (www.maxsold.com/terms) and on the buyer invoice:
CLAIMS: ENSURE YOU INSPECT items at pickup (and preview if available) and IMMEDIATELY inform the MaxSold team (or Seller if Seller Managed) of any issues related to mis-cataloging of condition (remembering that you are purchasing used items in AS IS WHERE IS condition). By departing from the pickup site you acknowledge that you have all your items and that you are satisfied with them and/or have brought up issues with the Lead on site. NO CLAIMS ARE PERMITTED AFTER REMOVING ITEMS FROM THE PREMISES as condition issues cannot be validated once items are released into your possession. If required, bring an expert to validate purchases at pickup. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of the Seller.
This ensures fairness and transparency to both the buyer and the seller. When a buyer accepts an item without inspection, they are waiving any potential claim issues as, once the item leaves, there’s no way for Maxsold or the seller to know when the (potential) issue was created. Was it lost in transit? Damaged on the way home? Or is it someone trying to take advantage of the process (by ignoring a transparent opportunity to make a claim).
Bidders that accept and live by the terms love that the as is where is used goods start at $1 with the highest bidder winning. It’s a fair and transparent model for those who can accept and abide by the terms and conditions laid out (and agreed to) prior to bidding. To date, Maxsold’s error rate in selling used goods is unmatched in both the used and retail industry at less than 2% of all goods sold.

From the first auction I participated in, in Brooklyn, NY to the last one two weeks ago in NYC it has always been a crazy, fabulous experience. The employees of Max Sold are always helpful and courteous. I love that they have auctions in my area.
I was bidding on several of their auctions. I won a computer on one but they forgot to send me the pick up reminder. I therefor missed the pick up time. They refuse to release the computer and won't allow me to pick it up at all. They say I have lost it due to not picking it up as scheduled by them. I don't know how legal this is but it's an awful way to treat people.
After 3 generations and 50+ years as a family business and 10 years as an online auction company, it’s always disappointing to have a customer upset. We agree that it’s awful to treat people unfairly and it’s certainly not our intention and are sorry if this customer feels that way. Unfortunately it seems that perhaps this customer didn’t appreciate why it’s critical to make the pickup times as outlined in every auction prior to bidding. When a bidder/buyer doesn’t fulfill their obligations, they create a problem and that can come with consequences (from a loss on the purchase to removal from the bidding community). In some cases, we make exceptions (as we did in this case) to refund a bidder provided they take the time to understand their responsibilities going forward. When we do this, the buyer is refunded (at Maxsold’s cost), the Seller still has to figure out how to get rid of the item (that another bidder would have presumably been happy to purchase and remove), and we contact the buyer to explain their responsibilities so as not to create the same problem again. When a customer states we have been unfair to them when their actions are an abuse of their promise to our process, our Sellers, and our bidding community as a whole, we are forced to remove them to protect the integrity of everyone.

Tried many time this evening to reach a live person, and could not get an operator to leave a message even. Maxsold i have sold 3 times thru you and purchased many times,,, no dozens of times thru you, and you new system sucks! I wish to advise all clients that i referral to you to run away from this site. I often buy from MaxSold for the value. I bought a lot of 14 k gold jewelry at a recent sale and the items where even more amazing in person. A jeweler tested my ring and the stones are diamonds! For only $390 I got 4 - 14k rings - one has real diamonds, 2 - 14 kt bracelets and more. Staff is always very friendly.

The first time you bid at any of our auctions, your card will be pre-authorized for $1.00.
