It seems Match.com has so many affiliates they want you to purchase from, they are willing to abuse your trust (and inbox) at any cost. For example:
I signed on for a 'Free' ride to see what the fuss was about. Instantly I was receiving 15 to 20 spam mails a day! When I reported this to Match.com, they said, "We'll fix that right away, Sir." In all actuality, they did nothing. Still, to this day I receive spam from Match.com affiliates yet I'm no member.
NO STARS!
I do not support any company that turns it's hounds loose on every new customer that walks through the door, hoping to tear every last shred of paper money from their pockets before discarding them in a heap. I do not support a company whose customer service representatives are told to lie to the customers when they need assistance. And, I do not support greedy companies who say one thing and do the opposite. They need to be shown the door, and told to go!
I was only on this site for 6 weeks. I had 3 scammers during this time. What at waste of time. They should call it Scammers.com. I requested a refund and the more or less said "sorry about your luck". The actually said " they are aware of this and do the best they can to block scammers". But seriously 3 in 6 weeks. That was my whole time on here. Stay away.
I have been a subscriber to the match.com for about a week now. While their android app is somewhat user friendly, the greed that is built into it is unbelievable. On top of what the initial cost is, you have to pay upfront for all other options even if you want a guarantee that you email is read. The most annoying thing about their service is that their site is designed so poorly it allows lots of fake profile that uses their emails and phone numbers as their screen names. I gave them some advice as to how to improve on their process of allowing new users access to the site, but they are not willing to listen. Their customer service doesn't deserve not even one star. I am getting tired of the fake profiles that contact me on a daily bases, I will have to hide my profile.
They will keep charging you! There is no way out of their membership. They are like bed bugs for your credit card! No solution to get rid of them! People, they are money scam! Made me cry a couple of times :(
Looks like most people do not like this site, especially since there are so many Free sites for dating. I got plenty of attention and met dates and had a few relationships from the site.
However, the fake profiles and scams are endless and Match cannot seem to stop the bots.
So I would say do not buy any subscription to this dating site, I know they say they have the most people - yeah if they are fake, of course you will.
Did you know that match.com has implemented an automatic renewal system on the basis that many members will, for whatever reason, be not aware of this and find themselves having money taken from their bank account when they did not expect it. Or, many others will also forget to cancel their automatic renewal in the 48 hrs before renewal that they allow you to. Match.com will make no exceptions, once the 48 hr deadline passes, you will not be refunded your money under any circumstances. Clearly this is sharp practise on their part as they could easily send an email to all subscribers whose renewal is due. Is this the kind of dating site you would want to be a member of? I certainly do not and will be deleting my profile shortly and would urge you to do so also. I am just sending this email to members just in case not everyone is aware of match.com's policy.
I recently joined Match for a second time after several years of taking a hiatus. I find it is difficult to meet someone these days and thought I would give this way another try. I am extremely confused about something that happens on Match. I am an attractive woman. I get lots of winks, interests and views. When I receive a wink or interest that I like, I take the initiative to write a message immediately. The following day I go back to the members profile and 95% of the time it is now hidden. I understand men meet someone and hide their profile. What is happening to me is something different. These are men I have never seen on the site before. Attractive. Good profiles. See them on one day. Suddenly the next day they are gone. Happening too often to be legit. Can someone explain to me what the heck is going on?
Don't waste ur money even if u only have it for a day they change a whole month. I cancelled on the website and didn't know until the following month that it did not go through and was recharged tried to cancel today and they won't refund the money. What fraud!
Not a good site! Cost lots of money, poor results, they won't refund you for months you don't want! Very disappointing site, Poor customer service! Sign up with POF, it's free with many more people and options, Free!
The worst site imaginable. Look forward to spending two minutes verifying that you're not a computer every time you log in (after paying), so you can see 45 people, two of whom you're interested in (in a top 5 city in terms of population in the US), one of whom has been online in the last year... and a bunch of people a hundred miles away. All good reviews about this horrible site online are ones they paid for. Run for the internet hills.
I highly suspect that a lot of the profiles on the site are fake. There are very few profiles outside of large cities. Many of the users are not looking for true dating, just a physical relationship.
And although, they said you can cancel your membership at any time for any reason, they will not refund any of your money. So if you sign up for a year to get the best monthly price then realize 3 months in how bogus a site it is, you are not getting back the money you paid for the remaining 9 months. Whoever owns Match.com is getting rich off the hard earned money of millions of lonely singles... and he's a prick.
Very costly. If you make a mistake in the online transaction, be sure, they won't refund anything, not even a partial refund to switch you to another less costly membership. Also, the features are childish: likes and winks. It doesn't work and encouraged people to a not talking environment. And once you are done with the site, they will keep you on the site for ever! Even if you request to be removed, they only "hide" your picture and the links to use features. You become their property. Stay away!
I was on the site for a few days and supposedly received likes and messages. The deal is, you have to pay a minimum of $95 just to see if the person is real let alone anything about them. If it is a fake person, you just lost $95 because there is actually no one to talk to and the chats are automated and steered away from money issues or refunds. Avoid this scam site. All of the negative reviews are real! They were sued by the FTC for the same thing (baiting, fishing and fraud).
I decided to give Match a go and thought it was ok at first. I then realised all the views, winks and favorites were not true. I cancelled my subscription but they still took the payment and renewed it so now I am stuck with something I won't use for another 6 months. Contacted them but they won't give a refund.
Lesson learned. I went back to Seek4Match
Which is a legit site, I used to have dates through them before the lockdown.
I have never felt more wronged than when dealing with Match. It is not a legit site. Obviously all women are being paid a commission, that's why all other forms of contact are blocked. No woman would talk on a free platform. They always make something up when it comes to a real meeting. Just avoid Match at all costs, you will do your wallet and your heart a big favor!
Joined July 2017. Nothing but scammers. Fake military and even an "old lady" that emails you about dating her "boss" in Maryland! Couldn't believe how bad it was. Match.com is the website used most by scammers in Russia and Africa. Don't take my word for it. It's been written up by Huffington Post and there are even warnings from the Military! Glad I only wasted one month payment on this travesty of a dating site. No wonder they have to advertise so much. I want a refund!
A rip off. If you have a complaint you wait an hour and they save to change your preferences which does no good. The women I was able to see lived well over 100 miles away. I had two personal lady friends on here and they never even GOT my message! Others do 't exist or quit months ago. Just a totally ripoff.
Awful company. They dont refund your charge even a day after signing up. Please people stay away. Try plenty of fish or tinder, both free and 10x user bases so far more people to meet. Match is a joke
Please do not waste your money on this site. I signed up for a six-month paid subscription and wish I donated that money instead to charity! Wildly inappropriate "matches", no control over doing your own searches, and total ignoring of my "must haves" for example, I put that a four year or more college degree was necessary yet I'm getting high school grades pushed on me. Most people don't respond as they are on the site for free Oh did I mention that if you pay an extra $10 a month you can guarantee that these freeloaders can't respond to you for free? No customer service and they keep recycling the same man over and over again to me. I'm amazed they are still in business with all the poor reviews I am now seeing online! Run, don't walk, away from this mismatch rip off!
This company cares only about draining your bank account as far as I can tell. The way they do business is completely unethical, and of course you can't call anyone. I couldn't even send them an email. To avoid getting stuck in their trap for God knows how long, it was about four months for me, steer clear...
Answer: I was unable to get a refund but I dispute the transaction and got my money back that way. I said it was because they were not providing the service they claim to offer. If you can dispute with your bank just tell them you didn't authorize the transaction and the company refuses to refund you. Good luck.
Answer: No I would not trust it. There are scammers on there. They will tell you want you want to here. They are from another country. Look for key words such as widoer, contractor, travel, one child only. They will compliment you right off the bat about your smile. Not safe. Try another site.
Answer: Back in the 1980s, strip clubs were pulling all sorts of over charge and fake charge scams and forcing people tp pay. Here in Atlanta a majpr federal case against the GOLD CLUB brought all that to light and alot of changes were made in the industry... I BRING THAT UP BECAUSE... these social sites seem to be attempting the same types of scams and are getting away with it. By U.S. fedeal standars ALL THESE SITES FALL UNDER THE RACKETEERING STATUTE. Unfortunately there is NO enforcement of these laws at this time. Your best option is to dispute the entire charge with your credit card. They may not want to do this because they are seeing so much of it. BE FIRM AND INSIST IT IS A MATTER OF CREDIT FRAUD. Also be sure to indicate that you are filling a consumer notice with the Federal Trade Commision (they have online forms for this to keep a numbers count on how many people are affected by these sorts of things. www.FTC.org). If you have been a good card holder, you shouldnt have any issues except for 1: ALL THESE SITES ARE NOTORIOUS FOR REBILLING/DRAFTING YOUR CREDIT ACCOUNT. You may want to file a COMPROMISED CREDIT CARD CLAIM AT THE TIME OF THE DISPUTE and have your card issuer SEND YOU A REPLACEMENT CARD WITH A NEW CARD NUMBER.
Answer: You will have a hard time getting your money back Terri. The first time I was with them years ago, I forgot the auto renewal and tried to get my money back and they fought me tooth and nail. This time I tried both Ourtime and Match and both experiences were not good though Ourtime was a bit better. I agree with some of the answers here that Match baits you toward the end of your subscription with possible contacts, but since I cannot proof that I have to add that disclaimer. Everything you have run into with your experience I have had with mine.
Answer: You likely signed up for auto-renewal, which Match.com doesn't explicitly tell you out-right that it will auto-renew. You will not likely get a refund back for the month they charged you. However, go to your account's settings and cancel the feature ASAP. You will still have access for the month in question, but at least you will have stopped future withdrawals.
Answer: Give them a call... they always have something to scam people about...
Answer: Cancel the card you used when you joined.
Answer: That is an extra fare item and they charge you each time. Best to do your own searches and replies...
Answer: Too much don't do it!
Answer: I feel the same way Teresa, i have been on the site for 1 year now and cancelled my subscription, but was told it won't officially cancel until May because i waited to late after my initial sign up day, so i got stuck with another year. I am a handsome guy with a lot to offer, but for some reason never really got emails as i expected, i started to think the people profiles were fake or the women i was interested in didn't know a good man if his profiled slapped them in the face, just sayN. 41, recently divorced for little over a year, highly educated, working in my profession, make close to six figures, single, don't cheat, great personality, smart, don't play, and real down to earth... but i guess no one believed it or didn't like my handsome picks... IDK. Confused!
Match.com exhibits a polarized reputation among its users, with significant concerns overshadowing its strengths. Positive feedback highlights the site's potential for connecting users, particularly for younger demographics, and its broad user base. However, a predominant sentiment reflects dissatisfaction with customer service, marked by unresponsive support, unjust account terminations, and perceived deceptive practices regarding subscription fees. Many users report frustrations over a lack of transparency and the prevalence of fake profiles, leading to a sense of mistrust. Overall, while Match.com offers opportunities for connections, its customer service and business practices warrant serious scrutiny.
