Dear God! Used this ONCE on my work computer and afterwards I started getting 22 ad's a day. That is not an exaggeration. I have to clear out 20 to 25 notifications from mapquest DAILY. Viagra ad's with what looks like a picture of a penis on it pops up. It is actually a finger dipped in vaseline for whatever reason. Fake news about Trump meeting with Hitler or whatever pops up. It never ends! I had to email IT today even after I turned on pop-up blockers to get it off my computer. NEVER AGAIN!
The design is no longer user friendly, it inundates with unrelated ads, and I choose to go elsewhere for custom trips. Horrendous for travelers, probably good for bottom line-initially. Goodbye MapQuest.
MapQuest used to be great a long time ago. Seems like lately they have so many incorrect business addresses and sometimes mapping businesses to houses. It's very strange andmakes MapQuest unusable.
Honestly, what is Mapquest? It does not work on iOS very well, so it might just be me. But, put in address and there is a bottom part of the map showing, confused with junk adds (that are not collapsable at all). Useless. Forget about directions - no place to even try. This is just one big advertisement for nothing that even makes sense. Awful awful awful!
Another review for sitejabber - after I send this review, I will block you as you require me to sign up for even more advertising and, even though denied, the expectation is you will use or sell my info.
What's with showing me restaurants and businesses when all I'm searching for is directions from one place to the next? And here I actually thought it would be better than Google Maps! Boy was I wrong! This isn't the old mapquest I remember, thsat's for sure.
Mapquest is used to be my go-to site for all my mapping needs. This however has changed as now it is extremely difficult to navigate. As if it wasn't enough for them to run huge ads up and down that nearly block the map, thus efficiently defeating the purpose, a huge box pops up asking if I want to run the search again. There is an option to cancel this nonsense but the button doesn't work. This doesn't happen each time but is frustrating when it does happen. Nowadays it's a hit or miss. So I'm switching to Google Maps from now on. Don't waste your time with Mapquest.
Mapquest took me thru a dozen different turns in 2 & 1/2 miles when I discovered later it could have been done in one turn. It appeared like a housing developer had paid MapQuest to direct traffic to and thru their new development in order to maybe sell a lot.
This used to be my go to site for directions. The site is junked up with ads you can't even see what you're doing. Such a waste of time and it's a shame because it has lost it's usefulness. Have transitioned to Rand McNally.
I travel all over and Mapquest USED to the best to route my trips. Now I can't move my routes so that I can efficiently see what I want to see and the routes I want to take, the way Google Maps does, but Mapquest was WAY better at letting me move and choose my route than Google Maps. The site now makes users SPECIFICALLY choose something and sometimes it can take 5-8 attempts until it does what the user wants. Change it back because Google Maps does not let users pre-plan trips, especially in National Parks. You can't plan a trip to Yellowstone or Glacier if you're planning in January to go in July because the roads are closed and Google forces an alternate route that cannot be changed.
The Classic Mapquest met all my needs, was quick, accurate, clear. The new one is difficult to manuver the routes, directions too lengthy and inaccurate, map is cluttered and many roads misspelled and/or inaccurate. Can't easily drag desired custom route with out going thru hoops and then it screws up the written directions. Maybe we all need to go to the media and bring attention to this messed up site and boycott altogether which I think already is being done.
Tried to find a store location. I was sent on a wild goose chase from Sun City to Peoria looking for a blind store to shop. Finally found the location, not with your help. Only to find out the location was closed 6 months ago. And why are you teaming up with that other big POS called Yelp? Those guys are so inaccurate in ridiculous. I can't tell you how many times positive reviews on that garbage was obviously made by store owners, friends and family.
A total disaster, and I don't even know where to begin. It has a life of its own, so as you attempt to type in addresses pop-ups consume your brain and chew it up and spit it out like so many demented demons. You cannot click on a given spot to make a correction but need to erase the entire address--it is simply horrible. They took a user-friendly tool and turned it into a clusterf#$% of horrors. It's a mess, and from reading the poor reviews here it is obvious that many feel the same, but the morons@ Mapquest don't seem to care.
Messing up MQ like this has to be by design. How do you not see what a mess it is? How do you not hear the clamor of your users voicing their aggravation on sites such as this one?
I'm very befuddled.
This is the one for the iphone app. It is great as it directs you from your location and then it both is followed by reading the directions which are very easy to read, and it also has a voice so you do not have to be looking at the gadget every few minutes.
I went to a "4 star hotel" that was awful (dirty sheets! And the (1) star was a comfort inn that was terrific. Same thing happened with a car service... Map Quest reviews are opposite quite often. Useless, I've found Yelp to be rather useless too.
So done! I keep trying, hoping that I just need to get used to the new look and feel, but I'm done. Nothing works - not even finding addresses. Aside from the fact that the typography choices for the redesign were a huge red flag from the beginning - I mean, who in gawd's name would pick a retro font from the 80s?! For online work?! - this app is a disaster now. Such a nightmare - it used to be my go-to/must-have app. Now I can't run away from it fast enough!
Seriously with the pop up ads every 3 seconds! And then the damn sidebar that you can close just keeps popping back out. Dude I closed you a reason I'll open you when I want you! It was like the longest most annoying way to try and get directions.
It is impossible to just drag your route to a different road. Very tedious to change an address when stupid mapquest cannot find an address. Especially if it is a newer home. I'm trying to find someone's house and all it want to tell me is where to find a Hampton's Inn. [Nothing against HI, I like them] I have no clue why they made it so difficult, Their previous web site was a breeze.
MapQuest has always been my "go to" for directions. As of late, it requires TOO MUCH EFFORT. Try signing in and it sometimes will recognize, but not most of the time. Doesn't know Canada from USA. Put in all my info and ask for directions and it either sits there, is too slow or asks me to sign in again. Most exhausting when ur looking for directions in a hurry. Website needs to change for the better.
I used the old Mapquest all the time - the best site on the web for detailed directions. Let's face it - sometimes GPS screws up and I like to have an old school back up. The new site is a horror show. Not user friendly, basically a pain in the you know what. GO back to the better version!
Answer: I agree with all the negative comments. It was not broken and the best fire the guys you paid to come up with this new format and get back to what you had if you want a webpage at all and followers
Answer: Where is classic mapquest? Where this used to be great. Now you can't even get the right directions like to the next stoplight. Mapquest used to give right directions. Now they would you 1. Get lost so you want more directions. 2. Stop at an advertiser to give them business Not good. I've got to get an expensive directional diverse to get good directions. I sj be able to get your site and get good directions can't do that.
MapQuest has a rating of 1.5 stars from 207 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with MapQuest most frequently mention new version, pop ups and customer service. MapQuest ranks 61st among Maps sites.
