Mantracare is an online platform to help people connect with therapists online. It has many similarly sounding sites which adds to confusion over which one you are supposed to use. I signed up for a 7 day trial with MantraCare and before booking a session found another service I liked the sound of better. Mantracare took my credit card info and email and a sub would auto renew after the 7 days. Two important details, you cannot log in on a desktop or laptop, you MUST use your phone even though you can sign up on a laptop. Second, they will not permit you to access your account until you have booked an appointment and agreed to further charges. I contact via email, they refused to help unless I signed up further and downloaded their app. I contacted chat, where I at first heard the same thing, then that I should create a second account with a new email, and then cancel that one. What?! The English language ability was at best medium, and the agents were either not trained or had poor logical ability. They couldn't connect how their suggestions would not result in the problem being solved, or how it would exacerbate the problem.

I have applied to work with MantraCare as an instructor, I was selected, they sent me an email with general information about payment and other rules, I replied asking further information about a few important things and they never got back to me until I told them I was disappointed for their behaviour and I would have written a bad review. Then the HR got in touch with me and finally I had the answers. Then I needed another piece of information because I was struggling with the App and couldn't activate it properly to get in touch with clients, and again they were not replying to me.
At that point I decided to quit my collaboration with them, this is not the environment I like to work for.
I asked them to delete my public profile from their website as well as delete my video presentation I did for the clients. They agree.
And nevertheless I still receive client's requests for my activity. I told them 3 times already that this is not fair, the client doesn't receive my answer because I can't connect to the system, and they know very well that I don't want to collaborate anymore. They still keep my profile active without my consent! Very dishonest!
I contacted Mantra Care this morning to possibly be assigned a psychologist. I am from South Africa and asked for a South African therapist. The customer service was very prompt and contacted me without any delay. However, the therapists they assigned me to could not be verified as certified psychologists. The person I spoke to on Whatsapp didn't know the difference between a counsellor and a psychologist. The one counsellor she referred me to said that she had a Masters in psychiatry:
"I hold a Masters degree in advanced psychiatry obtained in 2019 from the North-West University (Potchefstroom Campus), South Africa."
There is no such qualification in South Africa. Also, I don't have a need for a psychiatrist, but was looking for a certified and verified psychologist.
Also, the fee for this service was R400/h. A psychologist in South Africa works from anything from R600 to R1200/hour. If that is what Mantra Care is charging for the therapist's services, the therapist herself is getting far less than the R400/h charged. It is impossible for any psychologist who is above board to work for such a fee.
Maybe the service is good for other countries, but certainly, please take care before you entrust your mental health to a provider from Mantra Care.
