They will do anything to their power to deny you. Then ask for more paperwork. I've been working on my paperwork for two months because they kept asking for paperwork from my doctor. Come to find out they denied me.
Manhattan Life is a joke. They take you threw so much. Anything not to pay you for your disability claim. They ask for all of this unnecessary paperwork. Well I will be dropping them.
This company is a Total Fraud! They were real quick to sell me on this policy and begin taking bi-weekly payments out of my pay. When I retired they never notified me of status of my policy nor would they refund any of the money I paid into the policy. What a steal and con of your income they pull on you. Someone should Audit them and put them out of business. I also reported them to "American Greed" as I am sure the Marketing & Sales and Administrative Staff are living high off the hog on some cruise or yacht in the Caribbean. If you are ever contacted by these Pirates - Tell them to take a Hike! What a Huge mistake I made when I signed up with them.
I was in the hospital for almost 3 weeks I filed my disability claim with them on 11/26 it is now 12/22 and still NO PAYMENT. Customer service can only say its processing and you cant speak to the claims department. I would not take any disability policy with them
I've paid $58 per month for a Husband/Wife cancer policy that I purchased 10 years ago. Manhattan Life did not write this policy but they acquired the original writing carrier. I recently was diagnosed with a relatively minor form of skin cancer, which was removed by a physician using the Moh's surgical procedure. I filed a claim under my Manhattan Life critical illness policy and expected to receive a 25% of face value benefit for what's considered "carcinoma in situ". However, my claim was denied because of a contractual clause that says the cancer must be invasive. In other words, had a let the skin cancer grow and spread, then the policy would have paid a benefit. I know there are better policies than this one in the market, so I'd suggest looking at companies other than Manhattan Life!
Worst company ever! Always have an excuse for not wanting to pay! Now I'm stuck with bills over 7k and my credit going down. Do not recommend
I had no issue with them paying the little claims but when I went to the hospital, they kept asking me for more and more information requests and paperwork to fill out. I would submit one request and they would request more. This is just a tactic for them to not pay big claims. This should be illegal. I paid on time as promised but they wouldn't
I canceled my Manhattan life supplement because of the issuing agent and his lack of effort. In canceling my policy, they chose not to refund my money even it hasn't taken effect! Beware of there fraud policy!
They are by far the worst short term disability company I have ever heard of, they will try to find any and every reason not to pay you and they will not pay you on the schedule it will be when they feel like it if they pay you at all. They do not at all care about the customers that they have please do yourself a favor do not use them, they have caused more stress in my life added to my injury then I ever thought possible, very hard to focus on getting better when dealing with them
My experience with Manhattan life disability insurance is bad! What I don't understand they have no problem in taking your money out of your check every two weeks, but when you need them, they want unnecessary paperwork which they don't even have a form for and they really are not in a hurry the process you claim! But I didn't listen to my coworkers which advice me not to keep Manhattan life disability insurance!, I should have listened. If you're looking for a good Disability Policy to cover your bills when you are sick from work try somebody else!
I was treated very bad by this business I have refferred several of my co-workers to this company I will no longer be doing business with you all I had a very bad experience with you nothing good to say
LONG wait times for disability claims coverage, needless amounts of repetitive paperwork. Non empathetic staff. Never is there a quick rollover time.
I canceled my policy with this company on December 1 after they improperly billed my account for the second time, and was told I would receive a refund. It is now the 30th and I have not received it, despite repeated calls, emails and filing a BBB complaint. (They issue refunds by paper check, which is a huge, hearty joke since they bill by ACH transaction, but somehow can't refund that way.)
Furthermore, I just received a notice that they attempted to bill me again! Fortunately, I had already informed my bank to stop all payments to these frauds, or it would have gone through and I'd be here waiting for a third refund. It would be laughable, but my money is no laughing matter. Bottom line: Stay far, far away.
I am a senior citizen. I did NOT authorize Manhattan Life to enroll me and set up automatic withdrawals from my bank account. I was searching for supplemental medicare that was mandatory in 2018. I did no select Manhattan. My wife is now joint on my bank acct and acquired about the withdrawals of $31 every first week of every month since 2018. They have been stealing my money from me and even causing my account to get overdrawn. We put a stop on any future withdrawals on our account and disputing the past two years worth of monthly charges that were not authorized. You cannot speak to a human at their phone number *******030. The options that they give do no apply to me, so there is no way for me to talk with them. Stay far, far, far away from this company! I cannot even log onto my account because I never opened. If there is one opened in my name, it is without my consent.
Rec'd a letter today - stating that my group disability policy hasnt been paid since September 18,2020. And yet payroll has been taking out this amount consistently every 2 weeks THEN when I call their freakin idiot agent "Tiffany" HANGS UP ON ME!
I am canceling this thing - demanding my funds returned since clearly you cant even apply them appropriately. And be done with you scam artists.
On 8/31/2020 I received a letter of correspondence from ManhattanLife stating they needed a letter of medical necessity and a copy of my last 2 medical visits for a continuation of claim that my doctor filled out through 11/12/2020. This is a pending workers compensation claim and I reluctantly sent them this information they are looking for in order to be paid for a partial disability for the month of September 2020. On 10/1/2020. I received a letter of denial bc they want a "more current" treatment date from my doctor. That is not what they asked for on 8/31/2020 and it seems like not only do they want to violate HIPAA policies but they change the policy as they go.
Answer: Scam that takes money and tries to get out of paying claims
Answer: Easy. When they finally open for the day. Except claim specialists dont have to answer questions
