A friend of mine was visiting from Illinois this summer and traveled with her husband, two teenage daughters and her dog, Greta. While visiting her Dad in Culpepper, the dog ran away and did not return. At home, she often ran in the woods but she knew where home was and always returned. But this place was new to her and she was clearly lost. My friend could not find Greta by the time they left to go home (4 days later) so the entire family, minus Greta, had to travel back home without a family member. They were heartbroken!
I posted an ad on LostMyDoggie.com hoping that it would add to the exposure that the signs hanging in her Dad's neighbor were hopefully already doing. When she didn't get many calls regarding the dog and several days had gone by, I decided to pay for a service (very reasonably priced) that lost my doggie website offered. It was like an "Amber Alert" but for missing pets. I was skeptical at first but needed to get the word out to the neighbors as I had a feeling that Greta was just lost on someone's farm.
The call went out on Monday (only a couple hours after I ordered it but three days after she was missing) and literally within 20 minutes I got my first call from a neighbor who saw her. We received about a dozen calls from people in the area... some just called to say that they would keep a look out for her and that they cared! Two days after the calls went out, someone found her! He had heard the message and called me saying that he had seen the dog the night before. He was kind enough to go back to that same spot and believe it or not, the dog was still sitting under the tree. He brought Greta home and my friend's Dad picked her up.
There is no way we would have been able to get the message out to so many households so fast without this alert.
Great job and thank you for helping us find Greta!

Within 30 minutes of registering my lost cat, Sam, on this website I received an amber alert phone call on my own cell phone, proving to me that it is a legitimate service (I signed up 'after hours' on a Saturday night and wondered if the alert wouldn't go out until the next day. I was so grateful no time was wasted). Within the hour, a neighbor a few streets away called me to say he had just received an amber alert message on his landline and that Sam had been hanging around his yard for the past two days. My family and I went over right away and though we couldn't find him we left a trail of his favorite food all the way to our house.
Additionally, I received help from a woman named Nadja Young who works for a cat rescue organization out of Newton. She has successfully reunited owners with their cats using humane animal traps. She walked me through how to set one up. It worked! Sam was in the trap a few hours later.
My family and I moved to our house only a couple weeks ago. We are certain Sam couldn't find his way home on his own because it wasn't familiar to him. LostMyKitty did what we couldn't do. It alerted 250 people in less than one minute. As a result, we were able to narrow down our search and help Sam find his way home. I am forever grateful to have him back! I am rating this company with the highest possible rating because I have experienced the best possible outcome, I have my cat back. I am eternally grateful, LostMyKitty. Thank you.
I got several calls about the location of this dog. As a result of it being posted online I found her with a lady 2 blocks away. Thank you so much.

He came home on his own after 3 days. But thanks for lostmydoggie for the awesome resources they have to help people find thire loved pets.
I admit I was skeptical about this service because it depends on the people who get the calls to listen, save your number and actually make an effort to get your lost dog to come to them. We were on vacation at a cabin in the woods 250 miles from home. My 8 year old Collie has been going there with us since he was a puppy and has never left my side. Because the house is 1/2 mile from the nearest road (which is a dirt farm road) I did not have him on a leash. Someone nearby was target shooting with a rifle and the sound scared my dog into running. I called and he would not come. An hour later I found him down on the road but he was still scared and ran from me.
We spent 4 days, 9 hour a day by car, foot and quad looking for him. It thundered and rained every night and he is afraid of storms. We could not find a sign of him and school was starting for the kids back home, so we had to accept the fact either our dog was dead or someone took him. On day 2 missing we listed him as lost with this service and heard nothing from the local people that got the calls. We returned home crying and brokenhearted. 12 hours later calls started coming in from wonderful people. A local vet who got an email poster wanted to see if we found him or needed help, a few other people called saying they got the Lost My Doggie phone call and knew of dogs that were found locally. None matched the description of our dog though. Then the call came from a farmer who lived a few miles down the road from the cabin. He got the call, saw my dog in a field and knew it was the missing dog. However. My dog ran. This amazing person stayed in the field playing with his kids for 3 hours and caught my dog. He fed him, gave him water, brushed him, and kept him overnight until we could drive 250 miles to get him. They even refused the reward money. This truly is a miracle ending for us and proved me wrong. Animal lovers understand what you must be feeling when your dog is missing and want to help. Because of this service and a wonderful family nearby, my Mr. Pickles is home and doing great.
Thanks to the email/fax service to local vet clinics and shelters, our missing dog Fido was found and is back at home now. Thank you!

The Free Poster from lostmydoggie.com was the key to bringing my Max home to me. Thank you so much for this wonderful service.
First off, with the help of lostmydoggie, we were able to successfully recover our family dog!
Our dog got loose while visiting family in Columbus, OH. After exhausting our own search methods and feeling rather helpless and desperate, we decided to research a handful of online options. Having never been in this situation, being from out of state, or having any experience using a pet alert, I was a little skeptical and apprehensive.
However, what attracted me to lostmydoggie were the good reviews, both from users and the news media. I also liked how much they offered for the free option, and the pricing on the phone alerts was quite good. I started with the free plan knowing it would save a lot of time and effort notifying all of the local agencies. Then after further reading and seeing how fast things were being processed and sent out, I realized stepping it up to phone alerts would be much better.
I couldn't believe how fast the phone alerts went out on Christmas Eve! I heard a copy and was rather impressed to hear a human's voice on the alert. I emailed lostmydoggie later that evening and asked if I could get access to a phone log online. Donna replied promptly via email with a full excel file.
Then on Christmas day, Donna called me and said someone called her responding to the phone alert! Our dog was found and the local dog authority was called to rescue her. The woman who spotted our dog reported the dog was injured and was seeking shelter in a nearby bush. The woman stayed around until the authorities arrived.
In reflection, a few things really stood out with lostmydoggie. First, the response was extremely fast, and during a major holiday! Second, an actual person was monitoring this site, both email and phone. Words can't express the relief and elation we got from getting a personal phone call with good news, and at that point it reinforced that this company has a genuine interest in helping others and doing pet rescue. I'm certain that creating a heightened awareness within the community contributed to the timely rescue of our dog. My only regret was not contacting them sooner.
We found him! I think someone saw the flyer and brought him back - will never know but we are all happy! Thank you
Lost my doggie is a really great service. It gave me peace of mind knowing that there is a community dedicated to finding lost fur babies. Thank you
When our dog Cocoa was lost we used a few sites and with the help of others we found her! Lost my doggie was an intricate part of finding her!
Please note that our local shelter highly recommended LostMyKitty because it has helped many families - there is a FREE option and you can add on what you want which we spent $5 to get Twitter and Facebook which was very helpful. Below is what we wrote to LostMyKitty letting them know that Boots was home and safe:
"WE ARE SO HAPPY - BOOTS IS HOME TONIGHT! At 10 pm my son and I were talking in the kitchen by the window and Boots heard us and called to us. We were reunited tonight and he is safe and happy to be home! Lots of love and booty massages. He's tired but starting to chirp and talk again. All's well with the world. All the wonderful advice we received was right - we kept journeying out, talking as we walked, we left clothing and blankets from his favorite spots, put his litter box out, we put flyers out all around the neighborhood and visited our local shelter - but we always had someone home in case he came looking for us- THANK YOU THANK YOU to all our wonderful neighbors and to LOST MY KITTY, the Mission Viejo Animal Shelter (wonderful facility), and all the wonderful hardworking folks who take care of lost pets, put their pictures on line, help families reunite with their loved ones - FEELING VERY HAPPY AND BLESSED TONIGHT!"
Answer: They have free services and priced packages by tier. We paid $150 for their biggest package.
Answer: The pricing tier that you choose determines how many people are contacted: the higher the price, the more people are contacted. When you sign up your missing pet, you enter in the last seen address. I believe the Amber alert starts with that general area and works it's way out.
Answer: They send you email with all the people they contact.
Answer: They posted to vets, nearby businesses and so many lost pet websites. Saved me so much time and it was quick and they created fliers. They also sent me the list to prove it, which I verified some. They also were in touch with me and sent photos when a dog matched my description. I can't say enough about them... they rock!
Answer: Company emailed & called to let me know she was possible located. Gave me the finders info, I called the person who found her and we met up!
Answer: Great because we have less neighbors nearby so the area covered is greater due to starting nearby and spreading out until they contact the number requested. Populated cities will have smaller radius for same number of amber alerts.
Answer: I paid the finder personally using their cash app once my pet was found. I'm sure other payment methods are ok. That's the one we agreed on.
Answer: I don't know the answer if it is part of PETA or not.
