I paid $10 to purchase $20 of pool/ping pong play at Top Hat Cue Hall in Parkville, MD. I wasn't able to try to use it until after the expiration date. Even though I ended up dropping ~ $40 total for me and my friends to play, stupid woman worker there would not honor it; refused to give me $10 off. She kept insisting that I was supposed to go get $10 back from Local Flavor. Stupid $#*!.
I contacted Local Flavor and all they did was send me a 33 page pdf file. They said that the Federal Gift Card Act of 2009 is a Federal law in place stating that any voucher, coupon, et., is good for the original price from the Merchant even if expired within 5 years after the date of purchase; however, I can't find where it states that on the 33 page document and they won't tell me this.
PROMOTION EXPIRES ON 11/24/2016. This deal is issued for promotional purposes. Your payment will not expire until five years after your credit card is
Charged. If you do not use the deal by the promotion expiration date, the promotion is no longer effective and the merchant will accept the amount that you
Paid toward your purchase of regularly priced goods or services until five years after your credit card is charged... Restaurant refuses to honor this and there's nothing to be done about it. I'm out over $100 and they gave me a $5 credit for my troubles!
I received the local paper with this site advertisement so I went to the website to get the deal the paper said they had and it was available so I added to cart and tried to check out about 8 times, changing my information each time since it said payment error has occurred. Then I tried my husbands card about 5 times. It shows the boxes as yellow if I autofilled them with my info so I retyped everything as they were highlighted yellow. I checked my account to see if I was being charged, nothing showed up. Then I tried making an account and that was t smooth either. I finally gave up. The next day I see a $1 charge for each time I tried to submit payment. I reach out to the terrible customer service and they said, " the deal was not available. You attempted purchases on deals that were showing available because the system, which is not real-time, did not update. Every single time you hit submit, you were authorizing charge, hence the $1.00 holds.
We have obliged your request and the account is now closed!

So I'm posting this review to save someone seeing this the frustration, time, and money. Thanks
I bought 3 certificates from businesses that DO NOT EXIST! These businesses are closed down. I'm trying to contact them. They aren't responding to my emails. I have to go to my bank and dispute charges on my credit card.
Bought a certificate for a restaurant. The food was inedible and we got ill. Used the certificate the same day purchased and called to receive a credit or refund. They flatly refused. Griupon is so much better
I bought several deals prior to the covid and have been unable to use them. I understand! However, you can't get in touch by phone and they do nit reply to the emails I have sent. All I want is a credit,! I hate being ignored! They are still selling deals, but do not care about the deals they have sold prior!
LocalFlavor will hide important and relevant information about the certificate use in the Fine Print instead of being upfront about it in the title and description of the certificate. Make sure you read ALL the Fine Print as well as the Terms & Conditions (no refunds after 14 days no matter what). When you wonder how they can afford to give big discounts, it is because they are deceptive and dishonest!
Paid 15 for 50 dollars of dining but when called for reservations sorry is closed we only do breakfast now. Next to LocalFlaver restaurant name was a photo of a slice of prime rib not beacon and eggs. Call the restaurant before buying. Wouldn't give a refund only a credit. Carmen's 2.0 in Scranton is still being sold and listed as clearance.
I've been using LocalFlavor for over 10 years. Most the deals are with reputable businesses, and it's the only site where you can consistently count on 50% discounts, and occasionally 65% discounts when applying discount codes they provide.
The complaints I've read in several other reviews are absurd. Restaurants constantly go out of business, and some owners are scrupulous and refuse certificates even though they are breaking the law. LocalFlavor has no control over this. But when it happens, and it has several times for me over the years, they always refund my money no questions asked. They are hard to reach by phone, but always respond to my email. Just be patient, and use some common sense. Show merchant the certificate BEFORE dining to ensure they will accept it and know how to redeem it. LocalFlavor will also fully refund any certificate for any reason within 14 days of purchase. They are reachable Monday-Friday 9AM-5PM EST at *******124, or *******@LocalFlavor.com.
The paper work says that you will get you paid amount until 2021. NOT TRUE. TOTAL LIE. If the merchant doesn't want to honor the terms printed on your certificate they don't have too and Local Flavors does not stand behind its written certificate.
Anyone interested in being part of a class action lawsuit? What is written and sold is a Total Lie if the merchant choses not to honor it.
I bought a coupon to $#*!ies bbq in mentor ohio. When i went to redeem it they said they no longer accept them. I sent an email to localflavor telling them what happened and no responce. They are still selling them on the website. SAVE YOUR MONEY
I bought my first certificate only to find out that the place closed. Local flavor told me that the restaurant is re-opening therefore I couldn't get a refund. It also says it's opening in a completely different location and it's not close to me. It's not until sometime next year and who's to say that they will still honor this certificate? But I guess since the policy states that the restaurant is reopening it won't issue a refund. I've unsubscribed from their emails and won't be purchasing from Local Flavor again based on how customer service handled this issue. It should be treated like a closure and therefore my purchase should be refunded. After coming to this site I see that I'm not the only one with this issue. Sounds like it's time to talk to the BBB.
I've never had a problem until now but... went to use a certificate last Saturday and even had to add to our order to meet the value of the certificate. Food was great; HOWEVER, I gave the server the certificate and my card and she quickly came back to tell me they were under new ownership and wouldn't take the certificate. I emailed Local Flavor and all they've offered to refund me is the cost of the certificate. I lost the VALUE of the certificate since I wasn't told until afterwards they wouldn't take it and feel I should be refunded that amount (even provided copy of my receipt). They've denied my request twice -- not sure I'll continue buying from them. As often as I purchase from them... their lost! And, you'd think they'd make an effort to take care of their long-standing customers!
Businesses refuse to accept vouchers with Lical Flavor & yet Local Flavor keeps selling vouchers for these establishments. Their customer service agents are rude & refuse to refund monies due to Businesses that are no longer open. I've reported them to the Better Business Bureau.
After reading reviews and seeing 1 star I was debating if to purchase through them the price was too good to be true I still took the chance and purchased 5 Crayola Experience tickets to take my grandbabies. When I got to Crayola Experience I was kind of nervous that the scan was gonna be no good instead it worked with no issues and my grabdbabies enjoyed their day. Will definitely purchase from them again
I purchased 2 localflavor certificates ($182) for a show at a Dinner Theatre place. My original theater date was for March 13,2019. That show was rescheduled Due to Covid19 virus. The theatre has since the closed and will be until furthur notice. I sent localflavor an email asking it my certificate expiration date would be extended due to the theatre being closed, their response was NO. I sent them another email asking if I would be recieving a refund and again their answer was NO. So how is this possible that they can keep my money and not provide the service I paid for. The dinner theatre has stated that they are not affiliated with localflavor(they are 3rd party) and therefore they are unable to do anything for me
Certificates don't work - you will be wasting your money. Don't both calling them since they do not answer the phone and take a long time to respond by email.
Bought a coupon for $20 for $40 worth of food for a place in Toms RIver NJ - Roxy's Bar & Grill. Their doors closed on and off since the purchase and recently they have been evicted by the building owner for never making a single payment on their lease or paying their employees for months. When I requested a refund for the $20 they said you're only due $15 here it is and we are closing your case. Now at this point it wasn't about the $5 it was about their disgusting attitude and customer service. When I politely questioned it the response was read the fine print. When I followed up I got this response from someone who calls themselves Supervising Manager Michelle F "My name is Michelle, and I am the Supervising Manager."
"First and foremost, why would you think you are entitled to anything more than what you paid? Second, all promo code disclaimers state that they have no cash value. Before assuming we are doing you an injustice, you are now advised to read your fine print and all disclaimers on your promo code emails. Also, be aware you will only ever be provided a credit or refund for the amount you paid and nothing more! Your feedback has been forwarded, and we are now considering resolving this issue."
She along with everyone else who communicated back have been disgraceful. They also continue to sell the coupon now nearly a month after the eviction notice has been posted on the door by the township. Their response "is we need to do what we do until we're able to verify they no longer exist - we can't worry about that". Praying on suckers who will buy it trying to support a local business but who will also lose money in the end. Oh and there is no fine print on the coupon that says you will take a lost, it does however say Paid Value $20. Attached is the coupon and the eviction notice. Michelle my dear you should find another job more suited to your talents, customer service isn't it, same for the rest of your organization.
Certificates are NO GOOD. Customer service representatives are stupid monkeys that can't properly resolve things. I will never use this company again.
I have tried calling, emailing without any response. Phone calls always claim higher than normal call volume and to leave a message which they do not return. I think I wasted my money and time.
Answer: Unfortunately it looks like their customer support is shut down or closed with no answers. I had to go to my bank to reject the transaction and get my bank to refund our money for the invalid certificates.
Answer: The number they have is bs as the whole company is. Most merchants say they were tricked and claim they get nothing. This is why merchants often are refusing these vouchers also. Have fun trying to get refund on anything. They were decent early in but not now. Stay clear of anything with these guys...
