Terrible company. Went to merchant who said they no longer honor Local Flavor certificates. Had to pay expensive full price since we made plans & the distance to get there. Customer service takes a week just to respond. Then they want to give me a Local Flavor credit. I refused credit. They said since the credit card I initially used is no longer active they I can only get this credit. The representatives are rude & ignorant. They also respond without even reading the entire message. They'll be out of business soon hopefully.
They extended the expiration dates of restaurants by 6 months but the problem is this virus will still be a hidden monster then. I'd assume half of us Americans will not step into a restaurant till a vaccine comes out. I wrote to them asking if they will refund my money or allow it to take out, they will do neither. When I bought this I did not expect a deadly virus was going to hit the world like this, I assume by law they can't expect us to put our life on the line to redeem this and should give us our money back. So many companies are doing the right thing and helping people during this time, this company. LOL they are asking you to go into the fire.
They will sell you fraudulent certificates and will not abide to their stated refund policy. Places close or will not take them, I have bought too many in mistake and gifted them to friends who have experienced the same issues.
You will never see your money again or get the services you paid for. Dealing with their customer service is a joke and exercise in futility and frustration.
I bought 2 coupons. The first restaurant said they quit selling their coupons 6 months ago even though Local flavor continues to sell them. The other restaurant had been closed for months. Totally worthless.
I have been a loyal customer for years and have purchased many certificates for Gianfranco Restaurant located in Bedford, NY. I called them directly to see if they would accept them for "take out only orders" during this pandemic and was told "no". I am seriously concerned about dining indoors and this restaurant does not offer outdoor seating. I was not asking for a refund, simply for them to honor my certificates. Most of us are facing financial struggles. During this unprecedented time it's so important to unite as a community and be sensitive and empathetic towards others. I'm terribly disappointed with the feedback received. It's highly unlikely I would recommend this restaurant based on their uncaring response. LocalFlavors SHAME ON YOU for not supporting or defending the needs and concerns of your customers. No one could have predicted this quarantine. When health is concerned, exceptions should clearly be considered. Let this lie on your conscience.
I purchased vouchers from local flavor and due to indoor dining concerns asked for a site credit for future use. I was told by the rep that they do not consider covid-19 to be a reason for doing such and that I just use or lose the voucher. When I questioned the rep on the company's lack of concern for customer safety, she simply said this is how they conduct their business.
There are many other sites such as Groupon who offer much better flexibility and help. I recommend not using local flavor to save yourself the hassle and loss of money.
I bought 2 vouchers for a business I go to fairly often. Well I went yesterday and they must have lost all their employees due to covid and had to hire others because my order was wrong after waiting an extra 10 minutes. I asked local flavor if I could exchange the other voucher and they won't let me. I will never buy another voucher now.
The customer service is terrible. I purchased multiple certificates to a place that went out of business right after I bought the certificates. Local flavor refused to give me credits for the certificates and pretty much told me they weren't responsible, even though the certificates were supposed to be valid for 6 months from the date of purchase. Seems commonplace from people I've talked to and reviews I've read. If you're feeling Lucky, buy a lotto ticket. You'll get a better return from that than you will dealing with these people.
Certificates expire because of COVID restrictions or restaurants going out of business. They arrogantly offer NO refunds--or extensions. They blatantly violate the agreement you make with them: to get meals at@1/2 price--virtually saying "No refunds, sucker!"
Do business with them at your peril
I bought a certificate in local flavor for a restaurant near me. However; within a few days of purchase, the restaurant closed. I tried to email local flavor 4 times and have tried to call twice I have gotten no response. It has been six weeks since my initial contact with them.
The restaurant I bought a gift card for (a christmas present) was obliterated in the terrorist attack in Nashville on christmas day. (the Christmas day bombing). I waited an appropriate amount of time to see if that restaurant could re-open. I requested a refund BEFORE the expiration date and they refused to make any exceptions even despite there being a terrorist attack. The managers exact words: " the bombing has nothing to do with this!"-when asked about making an exception and refunding my money to a restaurant that was bombed... literally bombed! AVOID... if their practices are so pathetic, they just want the money so badly, they could care less about doing the right thing. Many, many emails and still no refund. Disgusting business.
After creating an account, I went to the profile information to add a payment method... I noticed that the password change box has an option to show my current password! So this means that employees from this company and their IT department can read your password as they don't encrypt it so this is very BAD in today's world and just asking for all your passwords to get leaked.
Then the next step I got to the payment page and tried one card "an error occurred try again", I tried a different card and got the same, so looks like they are not secure and broken in the most important part as how to use this if you can't pay!?
I would be wary utilizing Local Flavor. They used to be an excellent source to support and try new and existing local establishments. For the last year or so they have changed and while there are obvious circumstance for this, the level of support, access, validity of certificates etc. has so diminished that it is hard to support this site anymore.
Localflavor refuses to acknowledge there thief. It's people like them who make a bad situation worse. There is always a bottom feeder who will profit off of a crisis. How can they continue to take people's money knowing your product is a fraud?
I bought a certificate today and when I received confirmation it showed valid from yesterday to today. It was for the Big Cat Sanctuary which is ready to close now, so I couldn't make it today even if I wanted to. I called Local Flavor's customer service number and got a recorded message and they suggested I email them (didn't have pen & paper to write down the address) and then they hung up. And they call this customer service?
This Local Flavor outfit is a real scam. I would give them "zero" stars, but that is not an option. Save your money.
Merchant would not except coupon, Great food but was disappointed that 50% off coupon was not excepted. Said that it was Cinco De Mayo, there were no exclusions on the coupon nor any holiday specials, same menu as usual. Specifically went to this restaurant because of the offer.
I purchased car wash coupons and when I went to use them the car wash would not accept them. Tried to contact customer support via the phone number given and all I could do is leave a message with my email address. No joy with these guys. Beware!
I purchased a voucher in April for a restaurant that "temporarily closed" in May. The voucher expired on August 7th. I contacted LV prior to the date and the representative fed me lies about having spoken to the merchant. When I asked her. "Jackie," for the number she used to speak to the merchant, since all I keep getting is a recording, she refused. Bottom line--credit was refused. I have been using LF vouchers for years but will no longer be buying them. Too much better competition out there to be dealing with a company that has no integrity.
I will not be buying on localflavor again
They 1) sell vouchers for restaurant that has closed
2) do not respond to customer service emails(they stopped taking phone calls fully)
How can one do business with this shady business model even if it saves some $
Infact based on value of lost vouchers one may not make any benefit at all
I have used the Local Flavor many times over the years. It worked most times, except three occasions. Two times were restaurants were out of business. One was ownership change. I emailed the company about the situation. They refunded the purchase costs in three occasions.
I learned in the process that caution is needed to use the coupons. You need to call restaurants before hand and mention the coupons. At least you need to present the coupon before ordering. You are protected from situations that owners refuse to take the coupons for whatever the reasons.
In general, Local Flavor is a reputable business.
Answer: Unfortunately it looks like their customer support is shut down or closed with no answers. I had to go to my bank to reject the transaction and get my bank to refund our money for the invalid certificates.
Answer: The number they have is bs as the whole company is. Most merchants say they were tricked and claim they get nothing. This is why merchants often are refusing these vouchers also. Have fun trying to get refund on anything. They were decent early in but not now. Stay clear of anything with these guys...
