So much for "famous service". I ordered two kayaks from them, received one. Truck driver said other was "backordered". What? Never told about that. The bill of lading said two were delivered, unfortunately someone who didn't know signed it. I called them, called them again, emailed them three times. Each time told, "Thanks for your patience". I should have been shipped another kayak immediately or refunded my money right away. I have now disputed the charge on my credit card and will never buy from them again. They act like internet scam operators.
I purchased a pullover jacket for 79.00 from your catalog. Upon receiving it there was a price tag of 69.00. Wow what are they trying to pull of. I returned it at my expense. Now it cost me 6.50 more. Sent a note explaining this and recieved no answer. Good bye lL. L. Bean, Please take me off your mailing list.
Excellent quality, reliable service, fast shipping. Everything fit as expected. You pay just a bit more, but it is worth the few dollars for the 'getting what you expect'. I have tried a lesser know mail order and was terribly disappointed, along with a full blown hassle to get a refund for verified return items. I've never, ever had a single issue with LLBean, and topping that, I have garments that have lasted 10+ years.

LL Bean used to set the gold standard in customer service. Not this summer. They have missed shipment dates, put items on back order and cancelled orders without notification. Shipped orders take 10 days or more to be delivered. I have tried to call them and my calls were dropped. I asked for a return call an no one called. I sent them an e-mail - no response. Either their system is totally messed up or they no longer care. The quality of their merchandise is above average. Their customer service has totally denegrated which is quite surprising and disappointing.

For me they are the gold standard of retailers and online merchants. Always courteous on the phone - and available, 100% money back guarantee, always decent; they treat you like they care. I've returned things that have broken and always gotten refunds - no questions asked. I have clothes from them that have lasted YEARS, and a blanket my parents bought from them that's got to be forty five years old - still gorgeous. I love them. Simply a great pleasure to deal with.
LL Bean has free shipping on all purchases, which makes them my 'go to' website when looking for camping items and clothes. Their camping equipment has in general proven to be very good value, and in the past so have their clothes. Recently however, some old standbys such as my husband's flannel shirts have been shrinking. In the past these shirts would last for many years. The reduction in quality was not compensated by a reduction in price, so now I go to Cabelas, Land's end, or Eddie Bauer and compare prices and ratings before buying. Still, I do like LL Bean but I don't take their quality for granted.
LL Bean told me they made a mistake in allowing me to order something on 10/17/17, so they kept pushing my order back eventually passed Christmas, so I was forced to cancel. I asked for them to give me the next closely related item at the price I was getting the other ones for, they said no. Their customer service is pathetic. They kept offering me the exact same deal that was their special of the day.
Declining quality has caused me to cut back a lot in what I buy from LLBean now down to only a few basic items a year, and then only when they offer a significant discount. The made in China garbage they're now peddling completely turned me off after being a loyal customer for decades.
Today was the last straw: I needed to EXCHANGE an item. I was astounded that I would be charged $6.50 to return the one I didn't want. Really? No other company I deal with on the internet charges for this- a return, maybe, but an exchange? No way. Bye bye LLBean you've now succeeded in losing me as a customer. Tried for 5 months to obtain an item which was on back-order. Told me it would be delivered a certain date, it never came. Kept blaming their new system. Could not tell me when my item would be shipped or even if it was in stock. Have ordered item from another company. Had purchased occasionally from LLBean over the years, but never again. Their customer service is a joke.
I love LL Bean. They are my go to place to get Christmas and birthday presents for my son and husband. They have a liberal exchange policy. You receive merchandise quickly often overnight. The good we have purchased have been of very good quality.
I ordered a rain jacket on August 10th for a fishing trip planned to leave August 21st, assuming this was more than adequate time to receive the item. Today I realized I had not yet received the jacket and the trip was drawing near, so I checked my order & it hadn't even shipped?!? I then contacted LL Bean via chat only to be informed the item was out of stock & discontinued & I would never get the item. This after patiently waiting for over a week with no email correspondence or otherwise. What kind of customer service is this? I will never purchase LL Bean again.
Tried to place an order for $500+ in clothing, but couldn't get a simple response to an easy question that they deal with everyday. Why are your cs people trained to help people spend money instead of telling them to call back later? They apparently have enough customers/money.
I've bought many things through the years from Bean. The first ting I noticed was the waffle shirts were half as thick and now on the round collar long sleeve shirt the material around the top is much less substantial. Bean you are forcing me to go elswhere.

Some time back, my boyfriend had an LL Bean jacket that was several years-old that the zipper had broken. He contacted the company and they replaced the jacket with the newest version, free of charge. I have ordered many things from this store and have always had a good experience. They sort of remind me of Tupperware in the sense that when you purchase something from the company, it is for LIFE. They do stand by their products very well. The quality is excellent. I have worn the same sweater from LL Bean since I was 16 years-old and I am now 42! The quality lasts and lasts forever. I would definitely recommend this company.
I have LL Bean dress shirts over 30 years old and they are now threadbare - finally. But the one's I've bought in the past 4 years last about two years before the material starts to tear on the sleeves and show serious wear spots on the collar. What gives? When I called about the first one it happened to, they said it is a one year warranty. So, they are a one year disposable dress shirt now?
I bought a cute toy moose for my puppy at the LL Bean inn Freehold, NJ. It was just under $10. It broke at the ear in only SIX days. My puppy didn't eat it; it came apart. LL Bean claims they are UNABLE to send a replacement moose to me in Scotland and they won't even give me a refund. So all their bragging about their service is one big lie.

Answer: Fairly easy to get a CS rep via chat or phone but they aren't as conscientious as they once were and seem to use a lot of canned responses.
Answer: If you don't get results from one customer service representative, ask to speak to a supervisor. I emailed my question in and had a quick response and exceptional service. Had I not, I certainty would have gone up the chain of command.
