LiveCareer Reviews Summary

The company's customer service approach is characterized by a mix of commendable support and significant concerns regarding billing practices. Many customers praise the helpfulness, professionalism, and genuine nature of the representatives, noting positive experiences in resolving issues quickly. I am a single mother of two children trying to graduate nursing school. I used the $1 resume. Which it did not tell me it cost money until I completely finished it. I paid the $1 fee.
Not even two weeks later (14 day trial) my account is charged $40. I try to log into Live Career website and my account shows no membership or resume that I had created. I see I am not the only person who has been scammed. I want my $40 back. Worst part is I paid for My Perfect Interview through my college tuition already and it should have been free from the get go.
Please fix this problem and make it clear for future users. As clearly by your reviews you guys are not putting the prices out there! I will be calling, emailing, and hoping to hear from you soon. If not resolved the local news will be hearing about it.

I agree with many other reviewers. The site states that you will be billed $1.95 for a 14 day trial. However, upon signing up I was charged $39.80 immediately. Although the site does say the charges will recur at $9.95 weekly every four weeks they immediately charge the $39.80 and do not refund charges. If you can cancel at any time, the first charge should be refundable and only the initial $1.95 should be charged. This is a scam and not as advertised. No one should be charged $39.80 until AFTER four weeks have passed. I know that I was charged $39.80 before my initial 14 days even expired, never received and never received an email confirming my subscription or the original $39.80. I agree, this is definitely fraudulent billing.

When you do a resume on their site you may think your making a one time purchase but you are not. You will be charged a $50 on your credit card at the end of each month until you realize you have to go back to the site account and cancel your subscription. In my case they ripped off a paraplegic gentleman who lost his job. They also go under the name of My perfect resume.

I have bought the 14 days membership, and there is no message explicitly telling me they will automatically charge 40 dollars a month without any message sent to my email address. I have been charged 160 dollars over these 4 months, and I just discovered it on my bill. THIS IS COMPLETELY FRAUDULENT. The customer service guy seems like he had already heard this kinds of complain thousands of times and did not help at all.

FRAUD
March 18, 2016

I signed up for a 14 day trial for $1.95 and have now been charged over $110! This is complete fraud as I never signed up for a subscription and was never warned before I was charged! DO NOT USE THIS SITE! They also make it almost impossible to cancel your subscription once you do realise that you have been fraudulently charged for months! FRAUD!

I used LiveCareer three months ago to build a resume for work. Little did I know that after resuming my account I would "activate" a monthly subscription of 34,95$ CAD... The only indication being on the subscription E-mail that they send to confirm your purchase. You know, the e-mail you get to authenticate the transaction on a service that you chose (in that case a 14 days trial)? Have you ever had a service that wrongfully gets you to subscribe to it without ever giving you any indication of the renewment except in your bank account listing at the end of the month?

In that case, you can subscribe to this horrible and dishonest service.

TERRIBLE AWFUL
March 17, 2016

Was volunteering in Colombia for 4 months; working with students to learn English and creating a sustainable recycling program. With the little money i had in my account, I trusted this program in create a resume for me. They ended up charging me 54.69 as soon as I had some money deposited into my account. I don't know how much money you expect me to have while I'm volunteering in 3rd world countries but I assure you, I have nothing. Thank you, I don't need food this month.

Fraudulent company
March 16, 2016

I just signed up an account and used it during the trial period then forgot it. Then I found it automatically charged me $40 without noticing me anything. I contacted the customer services but they refused to refund me because "Requested refund after billing date". WTF! How can I know I was charged before the billing date? I feel it's a fraudulent company just profiting from careless users like me!

We're very sorry if you were unable to get in touch with our customer service. We explain that the subscription is auto-renewing. The auto renewal is listed with the features of the 14 day subscription on the sales page in bullet points, as well as on the payment and confirmation pages in a paragraph. We also send a payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings.

If the cancellation is process within the 14 days access the auto renewal will be canceled and the charge for the monthly fee will never be processed. Cancellation stops the auto-renewal. Once it’s canceled, we send a cancellation confirmation email for your records and no further debits will be taken.

We are very committed to providing great customer service and again are very sorry that you had this experience. We take all feedback very seriously. It will be forwarded to our Marketing team. Please contact us directly if you have any further issues. This company has the absolute worst customer service I have ever dealt with! I will make sure everyone I know via social media and face to face interaction on the daily bases knows how awful this company is! I will not stop bashing them for taking money away my family during a rough time. I tried to communicate with this company to get my money back yet it was the biggest JOKE and waste of time of my life! I will now be disputing with my credit card company. Please don't ever use this company ever! The services aren't even that great. THE ONLY REASON THEY PROBABLY STAY IN BUSNIESS IS BY TAKING PEOPLES MONEY!

The day I decided to use this website, I was only charged $1, because of the resume downloaded to my computer, I then deleted the account and everything was fine. Checking my bank statement almost a week after, I was charged $39.80 from livecareer even though I was no longer using their services, and I also was never told that they took the money, or that they were going to, they did as they pleased. I called and simply told them what happened, the customer service man was polite and filled out a request form, the board rejected it, because they already took my money, Once again, I was notified, I was furious and demanded a refund, because they "accidentally" activated my account when they were authorizing my $1. I am currently calling again to complain, I have been on hold for 20 MINUTES! I am livid, I am not a rich person, I had to turn off my phone, because I simply did not have enough to pay for it, therefore I am borrowing a friends. I tried to use their website hoping it'd be helpful to find a job, but instead they left me no money. THIS IS BULLCRAP! DO NOT USE THIS RESUME WEBSITE...

Greetings Angel, we are very sorry that you have had this experience with our service.
All of our subscriptions are auto-renewing. We state this on every page in the purchase process and we send a payment confirmation email stating the date and amount of the auto- renewal upon purchase. We do offer several ways to cancel including by phone, live chat, email and self-cancellation in your Account Settings.
As you mention you deactivated your account. This means you will not be able to access any of your resumes, cover letters, or emails. This action cannot be undone. However, cancellation stops the auto-renewal.
We are more than willing to assist you, for we have sent a direct message to you so we can take a second look into your account.

STAY AWAY from this website. I used the site to make a resume and after paying 35.99 for a subscription so I could download the resume, it didn't look anything like what I had made in any of the downloadable formats. Of course I requested a refund immediately and they denied it. I didn't even take anything from this website and they will not honour a refund. Bunch of scum. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY

I was scammed over $350. I know its my fault for not realizing they were charging my card but regardless they are disgusting scammers. They make you pay the $2 trial or whatever it is then without your consent they automatically sign you up for a subscription without you knowing. They are disgusting human being taking advantage of unemployed people trying to better their lives. Karma is a real thing live career, and you guys will get whats coming to you.

Also dont bother replying to this comment saying "sorry to hear this bs" Ive contacted you guys multiple times, you are pathetic disgusting human beings.

EDIT PLEASE READ: The only way you will ever get a refund is by going to your bank and getting them to open an investigation. Live career themselves will not refund you but once your bank gets involved they do.

Not Happy
February 26, 2016

Due to fear of reoccurring layoffs at my place of employment, I wanted to attend a job fair last minute and needed a resume. Like other people in need I saw one that seemed to be quick and cheap. Found out today from my bank I was getting charged and sadly I'm afraid to find out for how long and how much because it has been more then a few months since I needed a resume. My card has been frozen and I'm requesting a new debit card. They will not get any more of my money.

They tell you that they will charge you only for $1.95 for 14 days and you can subscribe for monthly if you wish. Well, if it is not your wish, that doesn't matter because they charge you for $38.90 anyway! I tried to create a new account and checked if anywhere in the process they tell you that you will automatically be charged after 14 days, no they don't! I claimed a refund and of course they disappeared. No replies to my emails. Live customer representative have become 'unavaliable' for some reason. Oh, by the way, when I first contected them throug their live chat I said I do not accept this payment, I want my subsription to be cancelled and claime a refund. At this point this was what they offered; would you like to pay $3 instead of $38.90? You will have exactly the same benefits! This is total scam, don't fell for it!
