My order has been in process since February 26. Today is April 7th and it STILL has not entered production!
I had previously used another company. It cost $10 more, but I received my order in 4 weeks!
NEVER AGAIN!
At first I was unsure about sending my treasures away. I Needed to have my films put on something to save them. They were starting to disappear I could not show them on my projector due to them burning. I received the box to send my family movies back quickly. I sent them in quickly I was informed they were received. I was happy that they had arrived. I got concerned when I had limited information but reached out and was continuously updated. It took longer then I was expecting. But with the corrona virus I understood it taking longer then I expected. When I received my package back. I had all my old family movies returned and the thumb nail of family super 8 movies. I immediately plugged the thumb nail into the tv and was immediately behond satisfied the perfect job that was done was amazing. I am so satisfied I will be sending another group of family films soon. I Have thank this company greatly for the wonderful job
Hi Tom! Thank you so much for taking time to leave such a positive review. We truly appreciate you being so understanding with the length of time it took to transfer your items but we are so beyond thankful that you are happy with the result. We look forward to transferring more of your precious memories so we can be a part of keeping them around for many more years for you to enjoy and share with others.
I sent in two separate boxes of films to be digitalized. The first was of my kids growing up and a few of me as a kid. I was very excited to have these made. The second box was a mystery box of film from the late 50s early 60s from my grandparents house. This was a treasure of surprises. Oh how I wish there was sound back then! But still... these are memories from before I was born and when I was little that are beyond precious. Thanks for Legacy Box for such a gift.
Staff is untrained to blow dust of off negatives before scanning. Customer Support refuses to make it right. Extremely unprofessional. Avoid at all costs!
This is a very professional service. The instructions are impressive and the turn around time was fantastic. I will definitely be using Legacy Box again.
They lost my tape... memories gone forever. The digital files I did receive were of poor quality. I left an earlier review but Site jabber didn't post.
Best experience from start to finish! Easy to use and final product turned out beautifully. Customer service was very helpful with all of my questions. Highly recommend.
Hi, Kim! Thank you very much for taking the time to provide this review. We're thrilled to hear that you had a great experience with us. We appreciate your recommendation!
I love the end product, but didn't like the hidden charges at checkout. Just be upfront with costs. Also almost got ripped into getting an annual box sent when I tried to apply discount codes.
Cancelled order due to rude customer service. Talked to 2 different agents and they were not helpful in resolving issues. Lost them 411.00. Looking for another company.
Hi Woody,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We reviewed the communications that you had with our Customer Support team and see that you were disappointed that the price for ADD ITEMS in an order is not eligible for further discounts beyond the already discounted flat rate indicated on your ADD ITEM stickers. We completely understand this frustration, and always recommend that customers who wish to take advantage of promotions that only apply to the initial purchase do so by simply placing a new order at that discounted price, rather than including ADD ITEMS in your existing order. We regret the inconvenience and disappointment this created for you.
We hope that the new service provider you've selected does an excellent job of converting your media items! If there is anything our team can do to assist you going forward, please don't hesitate to reach out to us by phone or email.
Legacybox put my old photographs into a digital file that is easily shareable. The service was fast and attentive. Though slightly expensive, I would use Legacybox again.
Hi, Kate! Thank you so much for the feedback. We are so happy to be able to provide an outlet for you to share your photographs easily, and we hope that we can digitize more for you in the future!
Took longer than I expected but was worth the wait. These folks are organized and do an amazing job. I am pulling it together again to do more with them. FOR SURE!
Found 250 slides from my parents house. It was so great to convert them to a usable content and get prints. Like getting in a time machine as it's been 40 years since I last saw them.
Wow! That's great, John! Thank you for choosing us to convert your slides.
Really this is a very bare bones service.
No effort was made to assess the sound quality.
A simple noise reduction would have eliminated the hissing that is omni-present on the new recordings.
And there are even long periods of silence because no effort is made to assess when the tape actually ended.
Further, the delays were numerous.
My tapes were at the facility for more than a week before LegacyBox communicated they had been received, and the process took more than a month longer than described.
Meanwhile I got a couple messages full of generic messages implying technical wizardry and magic that would make even the most non-technical person gag.
And it was clear that once the tapes were finally processed, they were processed within a very short amount of time -- probably less than an hour -- evidenced by the communications themselves and the relatively low quality of the digitization.
I'm comforted that these are now backed up digitally -- so at least they won't be lost.
But given the price, the low quality, and the annoying communication and lack of attention, I wish I had taken just a little more time to research locally or to buy the software to do a good job myself.
Because really, despite the many claims in their marketing, there's not an ounce of wizardry to this, and definitely nothing special about the LegacyBox approach.
After I paid for an order to transfer 20 items to disc, I changed my mind. I was just sent an empty box to send my stuff back to them. That's as far as I got so I figured it shouldn't be to hard to cancel my order. It wasn't hard to cancel just expensive. I sent an email to them explaining the situation and found I wouldn't be getting the shipping charge back which I thought was fair. However I also found out they would be keeping 20% of my refund for a handling charge. I asked what they handled? All they did was send me an empty box. The person I emailed back and forth with was very professional and polite. They told me a song and dance about how the handling fee was for the labor and materials that went into creating my personalized box. It was an empty box. An empty box that cost me $55.95. So as I said in the beginning of this, Buyers beware of Legacybox.
What a fantastic outcome! 35 year old VHS tapes restored - the next generation will see the people we grew up with - LegacyBox even sent a notification. So easy - great result.
Hi John! It is so fantastic to hear that you can share these memories with future generations to come and that you can keep the sweet moments alive! We really appreciate the wonderful review!
Had some old family VHS tapes that I haven't seen in a long time. It was great to relive those memories. Everything was first class! I highly recommend their service!
I sent in about 15 videos to Legacy Box. They only had 4 done. They said they could not do others, and I also complained about the fuzzyness of them. Kimberly from Customer Service partially refunded me for the videos they could not make, and also told me they don't edit them in anyways (which is why I download videos with blue screens for twice as a long as needed to be. In their email they say: "Every tape is monitored to ensure the best playback possible by a trained technician. We have state-of-the-art technology, and even fiber optics for fast digital storage. We could go on...
By the way, if your tapes are a little fussy and require extra attention or a repair, our technicians will take care of that for you"
But reality according to this kim person is they dont ever edit it. So I can't even get an honest answer. What a way to ruin a present to my parents. They hype this up on the radio and I am totally disappointed.
I recommend getting local recommendations and never using Legacy Box. I don't think they even check it well.
Hi David, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I apologize that we were not able to transfer most of your items for you, but I'm glad kimberly was able to address the problem and issue a refund for the unconverted items. As Kimberly said, we perform a 1:1 transfer, as advertised on our website. The digital quality will be a direct reflection of the original media. We do not offer editing or enhancements at the time. The quote you referenced above " if your tapes are a little fussy and require extra attention or a repair, our technicians will take care of that for you" Is not in reference to editing or enhancements but we can adjust tracking within reason and also offer splicing to broken tape or film. I apologize for any confusion or verbiage that may have been interpreted as misleading. We always strive to be as clear and upfront as possible but your review has shown us that we can do better!
I cannot thank Matt enough for his exceptional customer service. He was prompt and very helpful. I own a graphics company and this is how I want my employees to be. They do fantastic work!
I can only say - do NOT give your 8mm films to these people. It will take three times as long as they promised, and what you'll get back for the enormously over-priced sum you paid them is a disorganized jumble of your original films thrown in a box - and a tiny flash drive that you will almost miss among the chaos. Find a good local place if you can, or a place in the closest city to you that won't shine you on every time to reach out to find out what in heck happened to your order. This company spends so much time and effort and money on marketing, graphics and digital bots that they might SEEM to have thier act together but it's all a smoke screen for a completely substandard, DISAPPOINTING and absurdly OVERPRICED operation.
Hi, Lia. Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry that it took us longer than normal to digitize your films this time. We are doing everything we can to speed up the process. I realize those thumb drives are tiny! That's why we put them in the envelope with your film reels and try to keep them separated from the packing paper. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you with your order. Our customer service team is available 7 days a week to help you with at questions@legacybox.com or by phone at 800-797-8210. Thank you!
My father converted to USB in like half an hour! Maybe Legacy Box could use his expertise! NEVER USE LEGACY BOX TO DESTROY YOUR MEMORIES!
Anyone notice this rep. Didn't say here's your money back! I have run a successful law firm for 30 years & NEVER an unhappy walks away from us!
Legacy box is a joke but they kept my $74 & said they could not convert b/c of "the following: mold, or broken tape housing, environmental damage (water, heat, etc)…."
How many time do they use that sticker, send it back & keep your money! Sounds like theft of services to me or just plain fraud!
Answer: All Video and Film Transfers are done so at 480P. Additionally, we convert almost all consumer formats of videotapes, photos, film reels, and audio. Here's a full list of formats we can digitize: *Videotapes: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Betamax, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, MiniDV, HD MiniDV, and MicroMV A note on foreign tapes: We can convert most PAL and SECAM consumer format tapes. The only foreign format we cannot currently convert are PAL and SECAM Betamax tapes. Just put a note in your box if you have a PAL tape. *Film: 8mm, Super8,16mm, and Super16 A note on sound: Since sound on film is so rare, and to ensure we're providing the highest quality transfers, it is not our standard process to digitize film with sound. *Photos: 35mm Slides, Photo Prints (up to 8.5 x 11"), and 35mm Negatives A note on photo packaging: When sending in your photos, slides, or negatives, we ask that you remove them from any extraneous container, group them in bundles of 25 and place them in clear plastic ziplock bags or envelopes. *Audio: Standard Audio Cassette Tapes, Mini Cassettes, Micro Cassettes, and 1/4" Reel-to-Reel Audio If you have any more questions, let me know. I am happy to help!
Answer: Legacybox sends everything back to you along with any thumb drives, CD's you ordered.
Answer: No. Just went through this with them. It's a "tough luck" and they keep your money.
Answer: Nope. They took 3 months to tell me an item was "damaged" and then told me their refund policy was 20% or more of the media damaged to give any refund.
Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back! Please reach out to our customer service team for the fastest responses at questions@legacybox.com if there is anything else we can help you with!
Answer: Hello, thank you for reaching out to us! Yes, the digital files you receive back are free from any copyrights so you are more than welcome to edit them as you see fit. Please reach out to our customer service team directly at questions@legacybox.com if there is anything else we can help you with for a more prompt response time!
Answer: Hello Lowell, We are a 1:1 transfer company meaning what is on your original will also be on your digital output. We do not offer any editing or enhancements. The digital files you receive back are free from any copyrights so you are more than welcome to edit them as you see fit. You can also request multiple copies when placing your order as well. Please reach out to our customer service team directly at questions@legacybox.com if there is anything else we can help you with for a more prompt response time!

Hi Rosalva, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. I apologize for any confusion as we always strive to be as clear and upfront as possible. Our website advertises an average processing time of 6-8 weeks. While every order does not fit into these parameters, it is a general average. Our goal is to set the right expectations by offering this information on the website as well as on the email sent out when your order arrives to our facility for processing. We are currently experiencing an influx of orders while also working with a limited staff to ensure the health and safety of our employees. I do apologize for the delay in our standard times from the past and we are working every day to move closer to previous times as well. Please do not hesitate to reach out to our customer service team at questions@legacybox.com if there is anything else we can help you with. If you can provide the team with your order number we would be more than happy to provide an update.
