I sent them two items to be transferred--one was an old DVD. Through the process they kept me updated on the status of my order. When I got the Flash drive back only one of the two items was transferred. The second and more important item was nowhere to be found. There was no note or explanation--finally my wife saw a sticker on the DVD saying "this item is in a format we are unable to digitize" A DVD--really? You have got to be kidding. It was a total ripoff.
So excited to be able to pass along DVDs to my boys of their childhood. So fun to watch! It was a very easy, straightforward process. Adding more copies to the order was simple when I thought I was going to have to resend everything and do it again for another set! No way! The whole process was great. Can't wait to do my photographs.
Shipping off treasured memories on VHS tapes to an unknown location took a lot of faith and trust. But, Legacy Box exceeded our expectations with a wonderful preservation and prompt response. We will be entrusting more of our memories to Legacy Box!
I can only speak for 8mm cassette/tape transfers.
If you like substandard conversion with lots of edge distortion and video/audio issues on most of your transfers, then this conversion service is for you. I even contacted their customer service and they tried to fix them with little improvement. The first five minutes of one of my tapes is destroyed now, which is probably their fault. It would be difficult to prove, but it played fine before I sent it in and even with their first transfer. It definitely wasn't the one-to-one conversion that they advertise. I have since bought a conversion device that is doing a much, much better job. I expected more from a company that specializes in doing this.

I sent in ten 8mm movie reels from the 1960's. I appreciated the regular emails from Legacybox giving me updates on my order. I felt like my old home movies were in dependable hands. They did a great job and I plan to send in more movies.
Beware - this outfit will upsell you like crazy and have a nice front end process to get your tapes and money, but they have yet to deliver any product. They sent my tapes back in a very indescrete box but they never sent me a USB with the records nor a link to any files. Contacting customer service they say "oh we must have forgotten the usb... we'll send it back to production" and then you never hear from them again. I would NOT recommend this service.

Legacybox was unable to convert about 30% of the Digital8 videotapes that I sent them. They provided an excuse that the tapes were damaged however they play perfect on my home device. In addition, the quality (resolution) of the digital video files that they did convert is not nearly as good as the original tape.
The process was fast and easy. I did not have any issues with the service itself, just the quality of the product.
I originally rated this with 1 star however they have since then, and with multiple back and forth with them, they have refunded my money for the tapes that didn't convert. I am still not 100% happy with the quality however the service was fast and easy and they did correct the issues that I had with a refund.
I sent 10 VHS tapes & 3 audio tapes. They converted 3 VHS tapes & 1 audio tape. It took 3 months (only because I complained & they moved me up to priority status). I watched the VHS tapes they didn't convert & could see nothing wrong with them. I would not trust them again. The quality of the work was fine, but they promise WAY MORE than they deliver.
I went through lots of old videos, movies etc. most of which I hadn't seen in years and when I received them back from Legacy Box there were some wonderful surprises that i didn't realize were on many of them. I've sent several to relatives who were on some of these and they were so delighted as they had totally forgotten about that time. I still have many more to go through and look forward to seeing many more surprises. I am totally happy that I finally decided to do this.
This was a great experience. My old family flicks... of me when a child..from 8mm movies are so fun to watch and share with my children! I also have sent in all of our old VHS movies of the kids at young ages. So nice to be able to have the chance to re-see all of the fun times! Now they can be enjoyed for the ages! Great efficiency with labelling and quick return!

Though there are many options out there, legacy box does the best job of photo and film preservarion. The colors are vibrant as if taken yesterday,. The provide all materials back and neat packaging. They are worth it.

They suck. After almost 6 months they have said they have lost my material. They would call with an update. They have not called nor have they returned e-mails. And now, their 800 number goes unanswered.
I had some issues with the results of my Legacybox order but the administration was very prompt with fixing the problem. Overall, the results of what was digitized was very good and we received the finished product quickly.
I sent them 10 VHS tapes. And only got 4 converted due to damage, bad quality and whatever other reasons they gave. Of course the quality is bad. Theyre VHS. They didnt try very hard to get them converted. They still work in a VCR. They collect money up front and door a poor job. Use someone else if possible.
I send 8mm film and VHS tapes to be converted and they were received at LehgacyBox on June 5th. I received the 8mm film conversion after about 12 weeks. The 8mm conversions returned were great and I enjoyed seeing them after 50+ years. The price was certainly right and all communications with the company were responded too very timely with the answers to my questions. Bam still waiting for the VHS tapes to be returned. 8-10 weeks was quoted and this is now nearly 15 weeks. I am hoping the VHS tapes converted are of similarly good quality.

I sent 10 vhs tapes out in early March 2020. Today, May 23rd, I revived the usb and my vhs tapes back in the mail. This was supposed to be a gift to my dad but I can't even give him this usb. The first 40 minutes is a family that is not ours, and secondly, out of the 10 tapes I sent, maybe 1 was transferred to the usb. I have emailed the company today and waiting on a response. I was truly excited about this gift for my dad, only to be very disappointed. Hopefully their customer service team can refund me as I will not be giving this to my dad as a gift.
Answer: All Video and Film Transfers are done so at 480P. Additionally, we convert almost all consumer formats of videotapes, photos, film reels, and audio. Here's a full list of formats we can digitize: *Videotapes: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Betamax, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, MiniDV, HD MiniDV, and MicroMV A note on foreign tapes: We can convert most PAL and SECAM consumer format tapes. The only foreign format we cannot currently convert are PAL and SECAM Betamax tapes. Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back!
