The overall reputation of LawnStarter is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from unreliable service, communication failures, and inadequate customer support. Many reviews highlight issues such as missed appointments, unexpected charges, and poor handling of service-related damages. While some customers report positive experiences with specific lawn care professionals, these instances are overshadowed by the company's inconsistent service and lack of accountability. The recurring themes of frustration and disappointment suggest a pressing need for LawnStarter to improve its operational transparency and responsiveness to enhance customer trust and satisfaction.

Scheduled a few days ago to come out today. Did not get a time frame, however did get an email stating today or tomorrow? Got a text this afternoon, they would have to reschedule 3 days from now due to rain. There was no rain within 60 miles from us.
Very poor service especially for a new customer that could have given referrals in a new subdivision. I do not recommend. Zero stars if I could have.
I called an was scheduled an appointment for Thursday today I received the email stating I would not be able to get lawn service for they are short on workers for my property so I called them today the lady was very rude to me I could explain to me why I was scheduled yesterday if you already knew you were short on workers she did nothing to help me as a customer with the situation and then she even hung up on me honestly she shouldnt work for the company if she treats people the way she has with me I posted this company on my social media so people don't call them for service theirs alot of Other respectable companies that would that would do good service and have good customer service unlike this company!
I live in Central Florida. In the Summer, it rains daily. I set up an appointment to have service scheduled 1 week ahead of time. They gave a 2-day window for when my grass would be mowed. On the 2nd day, I get a text message that it was being rescheduled due to inclement weather (I guess clouds are inclement weather: it never rained either day).
I sent a message to the crew requesting they come in the morning, so it won't rain on them. I received an acknowledgement. The same thing happened again: no show on the 2nd day of appointment window. Postponed due to inclement weather.
Changed crew and the new crew promised they would get it done this morning. No show, then the rain starts.
Yesterday I saw an independent landscaper crew mowing a neighbor's lawn while raining (also edging and blowing the clippings). That is the crew I am hiring.
I fired Lawnstarter and recommend everyone does the same.

I also now have a theory about this company: they are in financial trouble and are not paying their contractors. I looked at the reviews here, they were mostly good until June 2018. That is when it went bad quickly. This type of non-service usually happens when a company is about to file for bankruptcy. Contractors take note and bail on this company. Customers spend your money elsewhere.
These people have no idea what is going on in their office. I received emails and texts offering lawn services and signed up on two separate occasions for lawn services. Both times, no one showed up. When I called, it was a different story each time. First, they claimed I had not activated my account. Then, that my credit card was not up to date. Then, they didn't have lawn teams in my area. I could never speak to anyone in charge. It was a huge waste of my time. Get it together.
If I could rate zero I would. I have called 4 times, left messages, sent emails, called and talked to their sales dept because the service dept doesn't answer and it says leave a msg and we will call you back. That hasn't been my experience! It's not even the customer service that is bad it is the mowing. They have mowed the lawn 4 times, (1 more than they should of but since I can't reach them to cancel their service they got the 4th) the 3rd time they didn't mow an entire section of the lawn. I would have informed them of it but they never returned that call either. They asked me how to rate the lawn care through the email and I told them bad. Not even a follow-up on that. Tried to use their Lawnstarter APP, even that was a joke! Luckily I had to cancel a cc due to fraud activity and that was the card I was paying them with. I'm hoping that will get them to call and sent an email telling them I'll update my payment information once I get a call, but based on my experiences so far I don't have much faith in that. Use craigslist or nextdoor, this company is less than well run once they have you under contract. They are all over the place when they will show up, the work is not great, giving feedback directly goes unnoticed, and forget about the customer service. I will not recommend them to any of the properties I work with going forward.
I too signed up for service and put the canned message on ND. Only to get an email 2 days later that because of the high demand in this area I can't be scheduled at this time. I felt that they used me for free advertising. Especially since I called no one answered, I requested a call back and I haven't heard back from them. And they blocked me from tagging their business on my subdivisions Nextdoor. It is my right to warn my neighbors of this company. If they were to see some of the comments here they would be appalled. Poor business practices.
I started using this service last year. The quality of work was good and usually on schedule. This year however is different. My lawn has been rescheduled with different crews several times and IF I get serviced, the quality has been barely acceptable. As of Sunday June 17, my lawn has not been cut in more than two weeks and they just postponed my cut for another week. This is the second time my grass has grown to knee high between cuts. This is not acceptable!
This is a 'web based' company. For them that means zero phone support. Any question or complaint and there is no one to talk to. They billed me for two mowings that were never done. No one from LawnStarter ever came to my property.
This outfit should be investigated for fraud -- both LawnStarter and their subcontractor, Empireish Lawncare of Chesapeake, VA. Total rip off.
Dont bother with this company. They will take your money but have no accountability for the services provided. I reached out via email multiple times to complain about the quality of the service and was set the expectation that if i am unhappy, they wont charge for it and find a resolution. However 3 days later i was charged for the incomplete service without notification. I have since reach out via phone 4 times and emailed to complain 5 times and they have gone completely silent on me. This is a fraudulent company with non-existent customer service. Dont take the risk
I was stiffed 2 times by these thieves. I mowed an overgrown lot that had grass over 2 foot high and sent photos of said yard. I mowed it 2 times to get it even. I did an outstanding job on that abandoned yard and I got stiffed. I think these guys are broke and not very smart taking on these jobs for so little money and then not being able to pay out?!?!?!?
This is the first time hiring any company to mow my grass. My yard is quite small and they of course used a riding lawnmower. The areas that weren't able to be mowed with the lawnmower were left untouched. They DID NOT edge and left all around my flower beds also u touched! There is one section they didn't even mow! When I called customer service, they claimed they contract others to complete the service requested. She then stated to go online and say it wasn't done correctly and i needed to walk around and take pictures of my yard. I was quite annoyed and not one time did they apologize! Basically, not taking resposibility and doing the blame game! I will NOT be using this service ever again! Any company should want to please all of their customers, but especially new customers. I could of paid a teenager that $36 dollars and had a WAY job done!
This company has 0 customer service. All emails are Bots and they will never answer the phone. When you call their # it sends you to voicemail every time. Now I have to watch my bank account as I now see they that charge people even when service is not received. Such a waste of time!
This place doesnt even deserve one star. I had called and explained my husband was deployed and needed weekly service, especially after being gone for 2 weeks visiting my family. They assured me they would be here on Monday, memorial day. Last night at 10pm I received an email saying my subscription was cancelled and no one in this area could service my lawn. Funny that they require 48-72 hours for you to cancel but couldnt even give me adequate notice. When I sent a message asking about this, they said no one could come to this area. IF NO ONE SERVICES THIS AREA THEN DONT GUARANTEE ME IT WILL BE DONE! I was completely relying on them and they let me down in a way I cannot describe. I am already overwhelmed enough. I suggest never giving them your money, or time, and going elsewhere. What a joke!
Contacted Lawnstarter May 12th to begin weekly mowing on the 14th and also requested quote for some additional yard maintenance. On the schedule date of the 14th I received a text from someone affiliated with the company that due to the inclement weather the service would not be provided and would be rescheduled a week later on the 21st. I replied and asked if at all possible could we get it done sooner than a week an was told they would try, never heard back and it was not completed. I had also received a quote for $188 to complete the additional weeding and mulch work and replied in the affirmative I wanted it completed, it was scheduled for the 21st as well as the re-scheduled lawn service.
I am travelling out of the mainland U. S (helping the restoration efforts in the Virgin Islands) and really needed to get my yard taken care of as my wife works and does not have the time to keep up with the yard maintenance as well. Lawnstarter was recommended by a friend and so I investigated and decided to engage your service.
No one showed up or called or emailed or texted me on the 21st, 22nd or even today (until I cancelled the service). Really disappointed in your customer service.
Nobody showed up to compete either the mowing or the yard work on the 21st or 22nd as scheduled and requested and confirmed.
As I havent paid anything Im not out anything really so
But, I will make sure to let my neighbors (Facebook friends, colleagues, acquaintances)know and pass along your service is not really any service at all
My first experience with LawnStarter was the worst. I signed up online and scheduled a mow that ended up being rescheduled/cancelled THREE times before I just decided to cancel my account. Both crews they assigned to me, never showed up and LawnStarter didn't even notify me until late the following day that the crew wasn't coming. Vanessa Vera in Customer Care was no help at all and didn't offer anything for the multiple inconveniences. I really needed my lawn cut as I had special guests arriving... for all the time and energy I put into trying to deal with LawnStarter, I could have gotten another company sooner. I suggest staying far away from this company.
Received endless emails and surveys only for the vendor not to keep the appointment and reschedule for the following week - I needed the lawn manicured. LawnStarter wasted my time. They don't provide a contact phone number making it atotally unreliable entity. You can't trust that they'll all show and keep appointment. Its best to use someone else in order to get reliable lawn services.
I hired LawnStarter after finding them on a google search. They sent a great crew out (a gentleman named Pedro) and have been super duper helpful on the phone. Thank you Lawnstarters.
Not much more I could ask for. They mow my lawn, and its affordable. Thanks guys! Will continue service.
I used LawnStarter for my lawn care and now i dont even have to think about it. I just set the dates and forget it. They hit my cc automatically and my lawn get cuts. Great service.
Answer: This company is a scam, they get your credit card and charge for "extra services you did not request.
Answer: I have spent nearly $200 and my yard still looks like trash. Find someone else to do your yard. These people charge for work they never complete!
Answer: LawnStarter.com does not employ lawn guys. They use contractors that might be in the area and willing to do the work. Neither are responsible for property damages like sprinklers, shattered windows, etc.
