STAY AWAY FROM HIM...
An absolute nightmare. Speaks very politely when you respond to the ad.
Comes on site with absolutely nothing. In a very bad mood. Didn't smile. No extra effort to do anything.
Doodled away the day. I could have done much more. Took multiple cigarette breaks and yet more to check his phone.
Left the place in a mess. Asked to clean up. He refused. I just paid and let him go. Didn't want to waste my breath on him.
It's pointless to put anything on Kijiji. It used to be very localized. Now It is useless for selling anything. It has gone commercial, just like Google. I think they send out phony ad responses by email because the only inquiries I get from Kijiji read like this "Is this item still available?" and then you never hear back from the so-called buyer. I feel scammed. Apparently to delete your account you need send a request to support>other.
They are owned and operated by Ebay, which makes them a global monster of a company. What they do is they run their classified market for their own gain - meaning the company itself is the real buyer in most cases. They monopolize the internet classifieds marketplace, corner the sellers into selling at $#*!edly low prices, put stuff into storage warehouses and resell it to a waiting public on their own site at a markup that dwarfs the profit made when the item was sold new. They are a monster. They need to be stopped. After 10 years of struggling with this site, I'm done.
The review feature is great on ebay, and since kijiji is owned by ebay they thought it would be an awesome idea. NOT SURE WHYYYYY
So i have an item listed at 70$, item value is around $90-100 selling rate. Buyer messages asking if I would take $40. I replied nicely and said sorry that is too low, I am looking for more on this item.
Bam, negative review from a low baller? What a total joke.
The kijiji feature should be removed, or at least have a proper reason for the feedback, not just some pissed off buyer that wants stuff for free.
I still post stuff on there since its easy to lose old junk, but the site overall sucks, full of ads, full of paid ads, all the reviews are basically spot on.
Borderline the worst connection to a major website I've ever encountered. Whether it's the app or the website, I am constantly hampered by connection errors on their end.
That's besides the fact they never ever investigated reported ads. I see so many counterfeit/spam/illegal postings that stay up for months. Kijiji is the online equivalent to your local slumlord. Puts up the bare minimum so they get their ad revenue and does zero customer service or anything proactive.
Kijiji can be hit and miss the key seems to be patience and excellent interpersonal and communication skills ( many people lack these assets). Be advised that posting your email address or telephone number on these type of websites can result in that information being collected by various con artists and or telemarketing agencies. If someone makes and offer that seems to good to be true... It very well might be a Phishing scam. Overall be careful when using "bulletin board" style 'buy sell and trade' websites.
I WAS a loyal Kijiji user for years. They have got their heads so far up their arse's they couldn't care less about anyone anymore. Their rules are so contradictory, and yet if you do something totally ridiculous like post your ad in two cities... OMG, they will block you and even if you try to rectify the problem they don't even respond. They truly think they have a monopoly and can't be touched. We need more people to show their dissatisfaction to fix these $#*!s.
Unfortunately, we were scammed $*******. 00 on a house foundation repair from a predator contractor on Kijiji. It was a complete nightmare which left us with an empty bank account and an unfinished house. Any person can post an ad as a contractor on Kijiji as they have absolutely no requirements in place. Please be careful when dealing with contractors on Kijiji and certainly do not proceed with an underpriced estimate quote, as there is a reason for this special price, you will be the next victim!
Kijiji has sold out and they are "for profit" as of mid 2016! Advertisements everywhere, Companies/Dealers get priority posts, limitations on items being posted unless you register as a business and pay them! Companies are now spamming the site with hundreds of posts of the same items to promote said companies. They don't respect long time users that have built the company up. Kijiji.com is now a garbage money hungry company and there are better alternatives now. (LetGo, Carousell, etc)
Most of the jobs posted are $#*!ty that no one else wants to take. Good ones are scarce with requirements next to impossible to meet. Staffing companies are everywhere. They advertise a lot of jobs which are myths. Sales companies have been infesting every page with $4500 salaries for entry level which are too good to believe. Let alone scam ads to attract desperate job seekers. I have wasted a lot of time and a few gas tanks to go to the job interviews that were a joke. BTW, 80 % of the jobs are unadvertised. It's not Kijiji's fault but people who post ads.
I used kijiji many times in the past for buying, selling and jobs. Not anymore people are stupid the post ads only for fun no reply nothing. You try to find something or buy stuff they would send you an address which does not exist. Contractors posting ads just to see how many people are checking on the ad nothing else. People nowadays are realy stupid and uneducated in any way.
One example three years ago i found a good deal on camera lens i contacted the seller asking about the lens price, we agreed upon the price. At the i asked him when and when i can go pick up the lens hes response was" You can find at square one" in Mississauga. Everybody know how big that mall or area is. I replied to him keep your lens if you ever had any and shove it up your $#*!. Unfortunately kijiji can not do anything about it.
Kijiji is one of the worst of the worst site ever made. Filled with junk stupid uneducated liars thieves and $#*!ed up people.
We put yesterday an ad and paid listing fee and urgent ad fee which totalled to $50.74. I checked till 1:30 am in the morning. The ad couldn't be seen. I wasted approximately 2 hours for posting the ad and also wasted money in posting it. They have no email address or phone number by which customers can make a complaint. Kindly beware. This scam has been going on for the past 1 month.
It says here on Site Jabber, to add photos or proof of purchase, but, Hey! I have not been able to purchase anything. Every time that I see what I want, I send the message, and then... nothing... yes that's right,. Nothing, as if the add is a phoney.
I even sent a message to an ad, after it was posted for only 20 min., and today, 10 Hrs later, still nothing. I am not looking to lowball anybody either, but no reply.
SPAM SPAM SPAM... New changes have made the site completely unusable.
If you're not paying them for the "premium" ad space then your regular ads get erased or buried behind a wall of paid spam ads that pop up over and over and over. Flagging a spam ad now requires an email address, adding another layer of protection for Kijiji's little Ponzi scheme. Unbelievable money grubbing. The app is even worse.
Since August, my time spent browsing Kijiji has dropped by about 90%
Years ago kijiji was the go to site. Not for a long time now. Its soooooo slow to load, errors galore, the advertising is just to much and the mix of ads in inappropriate categories is incredibly frustrating.
Hate this site! Don't waste your money supporting this poorly run operation.
Stealing money from innocent customers. I use kijiji a lot to rent out my property. I always paid the huge amount to top add but still it does not even come on 10th page. Recently as on April 2,2020 i paid $22.54 as a fee fro urgent add and still i cant see my add. These people really stealing money from your pocket.Do not trust them.Do not pay them for top add, urgent add etc.
Some services advertised on Kijiji are not reliable, since there is no control on what is advertised and no way to get a reviews or references on these services. I used Kijiji to search for moving companies and when I found one they delivered most horrible moving services demanding twice more than we have agreed with these company before.
I had my add up on Kijiji and facebook market place, had the same description, price and photos up on both and I got two scam emails from Kijiji. On market place I had 10 plus texts about serious inquiries. To get anywhere with this app you have to pay money to promote which is bull because people still have to go on Kijiji to see it. It's a bad website/app and it's a complicated waste of time to put an app on there. Kijiji sucks if you want to sell anything within the century
Once I started posting a paid ad I had my ad removed immediately. The reason they gave made no sense (they said my business, a brick and mortar traditional retail mall franchise, one of nearly 3000 worldwide, was an MLM scheme.), and when I offered compelling evidence that they had made an error, they cut off communication and kept my money.
Kijiji is just full of ads now. I am looking for cheap local used chairs BoOM- a million ads for wayfair and every single dumb retailer in my province. I will use facebook buy sell groups from now on to buy and sell!
Answer: When American companies take over they ruin everything!
