I always heard about the bots, but I didn't realize how bad it was until during my current job search. I was able to make revisions to my resume as suggested and see my score increase for my resume. I like how it saves your resume in a format for the ATS.
This experience is really frustrating. I think you should be able to reupload the same resume as many times as you want for one job and have it only count once. I disagree with the words that your algorithm puled out of the job description. Your machine tells me my page size is nonstandard but that is incorrect.
Jobscan gives you a very quick and highly detailed comparison of your resume to the requirements posted for the job. It's very good for pointing out subtle things that you may have missed in your review of the job.
Some of your findings don't make sense, like missing key phrases in the job description because they aren't common phrases. Also, you say that my resume is in an unusual format when it's 8.5 x 11 inches. You also say that my 20 years of experience isn't enough for a job that calls for at most 14 years of experience.
The feedback is not actionable and seems very disjointed - not at all a good representation of the alignment with the posting. The update feature is exceptionally buggy and causes more hassle than it is worth.
Excellent tool for job seekers to develop a resume that will get noticed. I would have liked a quick way to know what to do next - a button that lets you choose to redo your resume and rescan along side a button to try a new scan. I didn't notice the option to rescan after updates until after I had started from scratch.

This is a useful app for anyone looking to land a job as it helps to tailor one's resume to fit the role being sought for. The feedback is awesome as it tells you what is right, what is wrong and how to fix the wrong things in your resume... and this is just the free version. I would totally recommend this to anyone looking for that perfect resume to land a desired role.
I am a student who is seeking to get jobs to build my experience and so far it has worked great. It worked so well I have suggested it to my spouse who is looking to switch career paths and needed some help tailoring a resume to meet job needs.
John, this is awesome to know! All the best!
The scan incorrectly identifies a number of terms in the job description. For example, "friendly" is registered as a desired soft skill when the only time the word is used is in the phrase "user-friendly software".
I match a job, its what I do. The system says that I'm a 27% match. There were many words that it has taken out of context that I don't match, so I will agree that 27% of the words match, but this means nothing if I, a human, a human that does this work, match the job. If this is the way of the world and how people get jobs, then I'm done. I quit. I will sit here until I'm ready to die because no one tries anymore.
It's unreasonable to think I'm going to add all those words to my cover letter to score higher. The cover letter would not read well and would look keyword padded. Maybe it's not Jobscan, maybe the ATS work that way?
This took has been a lifesaver. So easy to use and helps guide me. The best part was that they offered a free webinar session showing updated features and how to best utilize the tool. One of the best events I have been to. It has helped me shave time off of applying for jobs and understanding all the features.
You offer a free 1-week, it should be everything for the level I selected. 5 minutes in and you're already asking for money again. Shady AF. Either provide everything for that level for for the free trail, or don't offer that level.
Many times when I cut and paste a job description and link, it doesn't save. I have to do it again and still it doesn't save. I have have several problems with this over the past month. I am not sure if I will continue
This is giving a low rating if all areas of an or, or, or statement are not met, such as required in this software, or other case management softwares. I have the desired software experience, but was dinged because I did not have the words case management. Saving words on this resume is extremely important. Did the same for education. Also did the same when I was giving supporting material dates. Right now, also, because of security issues with scans and the question of security of ATS software, it is not recommended that full addresses are put on resumes.
My overall impression is that this tool helps guide the resume and cover letter, but as much as it can guide, it's only as successful as the information/ content via resume and cover letter submitted.
JobScan does a decent job of ranking the comparisons between my resume and a company's job description, and giving me specific words and phrases that can make my resume more likely to be selected by the company's bots.
JobScan does have several flaws, however. One of the biggest for me is when I have a specific phrase in my resume that is an exact match for the phrase in a job description, but JobScan flags it as 'missing' from my resume.
One of the things i see most often is when a phrase in the job description is in lower-case, but the exact same phrase in my resume is in Upper-Case.
Another thing I don't like is that when I make some changes to my resume to match what JobScan says I'm missing, the %ranking doesn't change. If making a match has no effect on the ranking, why is JobScan showing it as something that needs to be fixed?
I have had problems thus far with pretty much everything to do with the site. I was assigned to use Jobscan to review my resume for my class but it refuses to recognize that I am with my university, attempting to get me to pay. However, even when I tried to pay just to be able to do the assignment, I was unable to do that too. Finally, I got registered under my university and only let me work under the business school (I'm in liberal arts), so it would not review my resume. I said it ran into an issue for one of a few reasons. If one of those reasons is not something to do with my resume (which it wasn't), then I needed to contact you. None of my classmates have had this issue except one so I'm very disappointed in navigating this site.
I haven't experienced an uptick in employer responses since I've used the software.
You could try it for free to get a feel for what it takes to improve your job match percentage. All you're doing is inserting the key words into your resume from the job listing, over and over, ad nauseam (if the job description has SaaS referenced 4 times, so must your resume!)
I'd bet a large sum most of the 5 star reviews here are employees of Jobscan. A mediocre product at best...
Jobscan + Milewalk Academy tips and recommendation on how to write my resume allowed me to get considered by a few companies. In my opinion it's a valid and effective tool however you must do your homework on how to write your resume, don't expect miracles from jobscan.
Answer: Hi Tanisha! Jobscan recommends at least 80% for ATS to make your resume visible to the hiring manager. To boost your match rate, take a look at the missing skill and keywords (the ones denoted as red X) and see which ones are relevant to include in your resume. Focusing on including missing keywords that appear more frequently in the Hard Skills section will quickly boost your match rate. Here's a video tutorial that helps with getting your rate up - https://www.jobscan.co/video-resume-match-report. I hope this helps. Please reach out to support@jobscan.co if you have questions as you go along. Thanks!
