I used Jobscan to refine my resume, my LinkedIn profile and my cover letter for each and every job application. The tool is excellent at pointing you to specific changes to make to tailor your application material to a given job description. With unlimited scans, this helped improve my odds against the myriad and different ATS screening software tools which different companies use.
Jobscan seems to act as an ATS, thus providing accurate assessments of how your resume will likely be reviewed by employers. I did notice some nuances in how Jobscan picks up key words that are not actually part of the job description, so you do want review your results carefully.
Hi JB, thanks for your feedback. We would greatly appreciate it if you can send us the URL of the scan result in question and elaborate on which keywords you're referring to so we can investigate. You can message us at support@jobscan.co. Have a wonderful day!
Looking forward to your email.
The product itself is extremely basic and not worth the $$$. Chat GPT does a much better job and it is FREE. I tried to get my money back one day after use and they refused to give me a refund. I have tried disputing this charge 3 separate times and am considering legal action because I was well within the terms of the refund policy. Please avoid at all costs. Read the experiences on Reddit. There have been several negative instances and people say it isn't even based on the US, so basic review of their resume missed some pretty big mistakes.
My overall experience is good. But you can provide a much more better service. E.g. If the job requirement says Degree in Mathematics, Science or Engineering it counts Mathematics, Science and Engineering as 3 keywords which affects the accuracy of scan.
Over all a very good experience, but there are workflow tweaks that would be 'a better way'
1) being able to link to job posting from the start of the interaction.
2) having a 'base line' resume available
3) being able to search within the resume that you're power editing so as to enable quicker change/revert
4) spell check in the powered mode. (i just figured out I applied to 4 jobs with a misspelling in the first 4 words of the resume)
I'm happy to contribute more ideas, but how about you hire me?
Skills often include "partnership" which doesn't include "collaboration" - and they mean very similar things so then my score is low. I don't want to put both partnership and collaboration in my resume...
Easy to use and can be helpful in content. It is frustrating that it just seems dumb.
"Project planning" vs "Project plans", vs "Planning projects" are not picked up as a match.
"Plans" vs "plan" would not be picked up as a match.
There really is no excuse for not building this in.
I've done a number of resumes reaching over 85% match and no response from companies, so I feel like it's not hitting the mark, but difficult to know why.
I purchased job scan quarterly plan and it was automatically cancelled due to payment issues. Even though my credit card was not expired or any issues with it.
Job scan never sent email or any communication about failed payment to fix issue. They just simply killed the plan they offered as part of 50% off quarterly plan. I really feel cheated as first 4 month I did not use the service much but when I can to login to site I find that I am no more premium and customer care also simply did not help on the same they just said its my fault to not check emails. Where I did not found any email even in junk emails since my account was expired within 10 days and my junk email also don't delete before 30 days. I will not trust them again as they simply delete my premium without notifying me.
Looking for work is and can be painful. Using Jobscan may take some effort but really helps keep hope alive during this transition time.
One thing I wish they would do is scan through all resumes already scanned and choose the one with the best preliminary score for each new job description uploaded. This would save me a ton of time and rework.
I started a 3 month subscription to trial Job Scan and to see if it made any difference in terms of key words etc. I have used the service a number of times and my CV has got to the bench mark % and I have submitted the CV. At this stage I have not had a noticeable up tick in response and therefore will be reviewing whether it is worth continuing with the product
Your AI doesn't seem to pickup variations on phrases very well. It also tried to match me to the very job it just told me I don't qualify for, so there's that. Overall, not a good first impression. If this is the state of resume AI, a LOT of qualified people are likely getting shot down by glitchy tech. Yikes.
It's nice to be able to scan and edit your resume to fit the job description for ATS...however, the resume scan doesn't always get your whole resume, and when you go to click on power edit it's a crap shoot on whether it makes it to edit or not. Also, doesn't make any sense to edit your resume in power edit because the format gets all wrecked if you try to download an use.
Recently subscribed to service and am very pleased. This is exactly what artificial intelligence should do. Thousands of comparisons of words and objective scoring to tell you how to improve.
The cover letter writer has been giving me nearly perfect suggestions that require almost no edit before submitting. I simply make them a little shorter and copy, paste, and submit!
It was eye opening to look at job descriptions more strategically. I ended up getting a job outside of the traditional application process, but I'm confident that I would have made some good traction using Jobscan.
Jobs can helped me highlight my experience in a way directly relevant to each application. When you only get one chance to get selected for interviews, it pays to be able to articulate your value proposition better than the stack of resumes not using jobscan. Love the product!
Thank you for the awesome feedback, Ryan! All the best!
I am a midlife female changing to Electrical Drafting from Healthcare Admin of 20+ years. Jobscan allowed me to target specific jobs and be aggressive in my job hunt. 1 MONTH was all it took! Eight phone interviews, 3 Zoom meetings, and i got an offer for a job and company I wanted. Thank you so much Job Scan! You perform miracles.
Awesome, Julie! Thanks for the feedback!
I started using this service as a free month trial, but forgot to cancel this service before they charged my card $89.95. I sent numerous support tickets in the way that they asked, fulfilling all the stated requirements for refund listed on their website. However, they have not responded to any of my requests and it has been almost a week since I sent the first one. I strongly do not recommend this service unless you want to lose your money with no recourse
A bit confusing to try to get resume and cover letter copied in for scan. I tried earlier today and procedure seemed not to allow both. Perhaps I'm at fault and confuse. I know you only give 5 free scans per month, so don't want to use them up.
The resume scanner gives keywords that are not relevant to the skills needed for specific roles. It just picks repeated words. I am also not a fan of the resume builder as it doesn't scan my professional written resume properly. Once you make payment that is it.
I had premium membership for 3 months, the power edit options really works well for aligning your experiences to the job description!
Team at jobscan are doing a great work through frequent emails regarding job application progress & job suggestions based on your profile!
I got the desired job I wanted through using Job scan!
Awesome! Thank you for the feedback.
Answer: Hi Tanisha! Jobscan recommends at least 80% for ATS to make your resume visible to the hiring manager. To boost your match rate, take a look at the missing skill and keywords (the ones denoted as red X) and see which ones are relevant to include in your resume. Focusing on including missing keywords that appear more frequently in the Hard Skills section will quickly boost your match rate. Here's a video tutorial that helps with getting your rate up - https://www.jobscan.co/video-resume-match-report. I hope this helps. Please reach out to support@jobscan.co if you have questions as you go along. Thanks!
