I've been using this service for over a year now. I will NEVER use them again. Today after my delivery, I noticed for the first time that a paper receipt was in my grocery bag. My total came to $128.31. Instacart emailed me my final receipt after delivery and I was charged $167.41. I went back and added up my delivery fee, service fee and my tip to my driver. The total should have been $154.37. Where did the extra $13.04 go? Good question. So I reached out to Instacart help line directly. Here's what they said. Nothing. I asked over 6 times where the extra money went. Who got it? The retailer? The driver? Instacart? I was passed from one person to another and not one of the people would answer this question. Now I understand that some grocers inflate the price a little for groceries through this service. I'm fine with that. But when my paper receipt shows an amount, that's what the retailer charged. Otherwise, my receipt would show differently. Now I'm wondering exactly how much I have overpaid in the last year with this "fluff" that no one at Instacart seems to know where it goes? This is fraud. Their site mentions a possible overage for items based on the store, but the store regulates that, not Instacart. Now I know why they tell their drivers to NEVER leave a paper receipt with the delivery. So beware! On top of delivery fee, service fee, and tip, they are somehow adding "fluff" and seem to be at a loss when I ask them where that money went. After much arguing and telling the lady that she was refusing to answer my question, she agreed to refund me the $13.04. I did tell her I was going to expose them now. Today they just got caught.
These ppl are the absolute worse. I'd rather get covid and spread it to my grandparents then use these guys again.
We had a horrible experience with Instacart and their prices are deceptive. My husband was recently injured and I work full time so grocery delivery is not something we frequently use. I ordered $275 worth of groceries and they only delivered $205. They picked out terrible cuts of meat and produce. I was charged $257... the $52 was in extra charges on top of our groceries! Service fee, delivery fee, heavy order fee, premium and then I gave a tip as well. I was not aware of all of these fees and they were extremely rude and would not refund any of them. They are taking advantage of people during a pandemic. I will never use Instacart again!
I don't think most people are aware with Instacart, not only do they INCREASE THE PRICE OF EVERY SINGLE ITEM BY $2-5, you also pay a service fee which is a percentage of your total grocery charges, a delivery fee AND a tip! So your paying FOUR, YES, FOUR EXTRA TIMES for your groceries! All together it adds up to usually AT LEAST $100 extra per order for INSTACART to deliver your groceries! Talk about taking advantage of this pandemic! And it's so SAD that COSTCO decided to partner with them for deliveries! Costco is aware of what Instacart is doing and they're perfectly fine with it! And right now, when we who are seniors & immune compromised need our groceries delivered the most you can't even get groceries delivered by Costco EXCEPT THRU INSTACART! Gee, Costco, thanks so much! Glad you care if your customers either have to get gouged by Instacart or shop in your warehouse & risk being exposed to COVID! I'll stick with Walmart, thank you very much. They've made grocery delivery practically painless! Yes, they're oftentimes out of stuff but overall they're doing a great job & NOT RIPPING OFF THEIR CUSTOMERS!
They do not disclose that they charge a higher price than in the store. Wish I never bought the membership. I got the REAL store receipt today and overpaid $10. Membership, service fee and tip runs me $25 each order over the cost of the food. Now I know its a good amount more. The reason I was given for customers not being given the REAL receipt was "as not to confuse the customer". It is really to cover up what they are adding to the cost of the food. I have been overcharged for months. No more. Cheating anyone is terrible and cheating a senior is disgusting! I agree with Rt as I would give it NO STARS if I could. Stay away!
I order frequently from various delivery apps. Sometimes orders get messed up. Normally those companies make sure to make it right for the customer without a hassle. Instacart could care less. Ordered two 12" subs, received two 6" subs. Tried for an hour to get them to have the driver get the rest of my order. Was on hold and disconnected or phone issues until after the store closed. If they would have handled properly at the first call, it could have been handled. This was my first time using this company and certainly will be my last.
They charged me a million fees service, delivery, and than to top it a Rotis. ChickeN in the store that is 6.99 they charged me 29 dollars for. I can't even believe a company is allowed to rip people off like that. Disgusting.
Constant headache and unhelpful "support" team. I have reluctantly used this service since just before COVID hit. It was bad before, and got worse when they got an influx of customers b/c of the pandemic. The site is incredibly slow (no, it's not my Internte connection), the shoppers are hit-or-miss (some are EXCELLENT and others are so bad that I have to go to the store myself after they "shop" for me), and when I have an issue, the response time is nada. They don't reply to emails and they end the live chats in the middle to the session. So far, it's cost me a lot of time that I was supposed to save. Once my next batch of credits are used up (I can return items virtually that are damages or rotten), I'm out. I've had enough. 9 mos of being ticked off for an overpriced service is enough for me. Buh-bye.
So, I ordered wine. My ID was expired 10 days. Since Oct 7 and it's Oct. 17. I have a pass port and global entry. We have a pending appt scheduled and the DMV approves of our ID in the interim, but not instacart. This is a freaking pandemic. Shame on instacart for having pre pandemic rules during very hard times. I will be finding a new app to receive my food. You lost my business.
Awful awful awful. They allow the customer to decide if you keep your job or not. The customers continually lie and say they didn't get this or that or something was damaged with no photo proof and that automatically drops the driver down. $#*! system. Terrible company. They over charge by at least 10 cents on every single item sometimes much much more. Do not spend your money here.
This company is a sham. Please do not give them your card information or you will regret it. They will
Keep charging your card even without purchase. I repeat do not give them a debit or credit card information and only use a prepaid card when dealing with this fraudulent company.
If I could give zero stars I would - I ordered $130 in groceries - order was completely messed up and they charged my bank account $570 and held it for days!
I have used Instacart about 6 times and it is never a good experience. First, they put an estimated hold on your account even when you cancel an order. Secondly, it is so hit or miss - mostly miss about what you get. I just received ordered 12 things, three they just canceled, 2 they replaced with something else, and 4 they brought the wrong items. So of what I ordered only 3 were correct. I can't call anyone and this terrible. Last time I use them.
When you place your order Instacart puts an estimated hold on your account which is dropped after actual payment is made. Okay thus far but sometimes they put a double hold (2x) on your account and then release only one hold. They then tell you it will take 3-5 days before you will see your money. In this instance they owe me $1,130.00 which I'll get eventually. Since I really need shopping and delivery I am going to have to change my favorite store, Publix, to use a grocery that has a different delivery service.
It's a joke instacart shopper at King Soopers on Centennial running through store no face covering saying I'm just shopping for instacart that don't matter to me where's your face covering instacart has no morals Shoppers choose them rather than going in the store and the people shopping for them don't even care so save your money they're a joke so are there shoppers
Instacart is a total Rip Off! They over charge you on eVery item (please see image of receipt to compare what it ACTUALLY cost vs what they are charging), they double-tax you!. They cancel items that I needed (i ordered them for a reason), and / or replaced with items that are more expensive / not organic, etc and charge me more. I'm glad this service is available, but every time i've used it I've had to write them to complain. And they haven't done much about it. I would NOT recommend Instacart.
I Ordered from instacart and received a message from the shopper stating my order was on the way then 20 minutes later stating this "your Instacart Shopper: I have to cancel the order and redo it the order got messed up I apologize for the inconvenience" I waited and waited my order never arrived. This makes no sense you can send a message that my order will have to be redid but you never deliver. Afterwards I checked the app and it stayed my groceries have been delivered this is complete bull$#*! the money has been withdrew from my account never received my order. I have no way of going to the store myself hence why o ordered the groceries in the first place.
Single mother with broken foot ordered diapers for my 1 year old baby and milk placed order at 7 pm called at 830 told me my order is on it's way called again 10:30 said sorry no one is shopping for your order I said my child needs diapers and milk I need my money back right away to go and buy this stuff they said sorry can't get your money back for 5 days they said you can place order for another day I said I need this stuff today that's why I called at 8 30 pm to make sure I'm getting my stuff for my baby worst company ever now what my child has to go with out milk and diapers like worst company don't order from this company
Completely clueless customer help, claiming they could not find my account?!? They would not look up my order with my confirmation number. I received crushed bread loaves, a 12 oz. Bag instead of 48 oz, bag of $9.50 frozen fruit, only one box of two cereals, and a missing gallon of orange juice. Totaling nearly $20. I feel stolen from. This is a smaller shopping list of 24 items. The shopper did not ring the doorbell as requested thus leaving milk, eggs, and cheese out in the sun. I lost a generous tip I trustingly added the the incompetent shopper. I'll NEVER USE INSTACART AGAIN!
Putting aside the absolute user-unfriendliness of the interface (a big deal), I got into online hell because I dared cancel "Express" within the trial period. My account was suspended. Then I couldn't start over with a new account based on a different email address. I was told repeatedly, "You can if you provide a new payment method," i. E., by providing them with a new credit card. Anyway, back to the first point, it took an hour online to put together an order that would at most take 10 minutes to put together on any other site. THE WORST.
Answer: Instacart does not give you the sale prices from the store. So if the peanut butter is 3.50 on sale. Instacart will charge you 4.80 regular price. Their prices are all over the board but on average you are paying 20% more.
Answer: You can't! The only way I got a response from them was when they emailed me to rate my driver and I gave a bad review for her and Instacart. I got an email back. Otherwise, there is no Customer Service! I tried everything under the "Help" section and got nowhere!
Answer: Seriously? They have already scientifically proven that is not spread that way. How many strangers & kids and semi drivers and warehouse people touch your stuff before it even leaves the store.
Answer: No, they don't by policy. But I've found they don't deliver anything else either. Last two orders were cancelled. I dumped my account and told them to keep the gift card balance. Done with InstaCart.
