Looked at my receipt and they charged me $7.59 for hamburger that was only $4.69. I called CS to get it corrected and I was totally polite about it, the cs rep barely spoke English. He kept telling me to hold for 2 minutes while he researched (or ate his sandwich?) He had me hold 5 times with NO resolution! Now my blood is boiling! I got nowhere with him. I sent an email and they want me the customer whose spending $80 an order to PROVE by taking a photo and sending it to them like I'm some criminal. I sent it but I'm calling my creditor to file a Fraud report! How can these grocery chains continue to work with such a dishonest company? Check your receipts because it's happened to me 2 out of 3 orders. They will not get future orders from us!
In January 2021, someone hacked Instacart's database and charged $4000 worth of goods in 30 minutes to my account. Fortunately, my bank saw it immediately and stopped the charges.
Now, Instacart refuses to tell me how it happened, what steps they are taking to prevent future hacks, and if they reported the crime to the authorities. I suspect they had another large data breach and are covering it up.
Never trust Instacart—just read these reviews and BBB reviews. I believe they are dishonest scammers.
I got overcharged for items I ordered for pickup from Fresh Thyme. The online chat person tried to blame the store. When the store gave me a customer service number for instacart, I got someone insisting that because I didn't notice they had overcharged me before I paid for the order, I was not ACTUALLY overcharged (in her view, I had agreed to pay that amount).
Got a copy of the receipt and I noticed a bit of a discrepancy between the receipt I received from instacart and the receipt that I got from my order. According to the shoppers guide line, they aren't supposed to give the customers a hard copy receipt for their order. And now I understand why. Here is an example from my last (and final) order.
Total for Instacart - 115.21
Before instacart fees added total - 98.94
But hard copy receipt shows - 95.11
Why is there a 3.84 difference between what it actually costs to what I'm charged on the app, then add delivery fee of 3.99
Followed by Service fee 4.95
Why isn't the price adjusted to what the actual cost is for items?! Then we're tipping a good amount! Below I have a Pic of the hard-copy with total and date, then the total instacart charged with the date and last pic of the "breakdown" without adjustments! There have been times the shopper makes a mistake and gets items that are not correct and cheaper than what you wanted but you're still charged extra and plenty of times they forget items that you are still charged for! You end up having to go through customer service and deal with nonesense and most times they also try to rip you off with reimbursing you for less than what the item is.
This is the last time I'll be ripped off! Never again!

This dude added over 200 dollars worth of his own items to my order and never even delivered the order!
Every Instacart order from Costco has come with strange substitutions. Today I ordered 8 food items + Cranberry juice and Instacart delivered the food with chocolate covered blueberries as a substitute for Cranberry juice.
This may sound weird, but it's normal for Instacart and they are strangely consistent with their substitutions and random delivery times. Today's order placed yesterday afternoon (4p) arrived at 1p today. Random = yes, Normal for InstaCart = yes
A delivery person did not respond to a question I asked what was the replacement. When he came to my door I asked why he did not respond. I was then called a liar and the "C" word... go bad on that word he got very loud and the neighborhood heard him. I got called that nasty name several times. A neighbor intervened and asked the driver not to call me that. I was on the phone with Instacart while the driver was still in my driveway. I was told my case would be escalated. I called a while later asking for an update. It was lost. Escalated again I should be receiving an email. Never happened. I called again "escalated" again was promised a phone call. Never happened. This happened a few more times with same results. I found out on my latest call that my account was closed the day AFTER my initial complaint. This is customer service... NOT! I don't like being ignored I did not ask for my account to be closed. The trust and safety department does not exist. If you get sent to that department it means that they just threw your complaint in the fire. The initial complaint was November 30.
Charged $131 CAD for Express and given $123 in return. Fraudulent charge. I canceled my trial weeks before. Still charged for the full year 2 weeks later even though I had the app and wanted nothing to do with it. Customer support tells me to call my bank but it has NOTHING to do with my bank. Their customer support rushes you and doesn't help. The shopper I got purposely skipped an aisle they didn't feel like doing. TERRIBLE app unless you are desperate.
This company is AWFUL. The shoppers give you what they can find they substitute anything and everything. Then when your order arrives and it's nothing like what your originally ordered they argue with you tell you wait at least 10 days for a refund and you bring the products back to us! Isn't that ironic if I could go to the store I would have why would I need them? DO NOT BOTHER or waste your time you will be nothing but frustrated by the lack of customer care and customer service.
Being im stuck quaratining have contracted zcovid, I thought I give them the business to shop for me and I got screwed big time. I placed order at 1225 on 1/1/2021 for 15 basic items. Tbe shopper sent message they had completed shopping csrd was charged for total of $53.62. Order was to be delivered by 330 p.m. i was like ok cool. Next thing I known i get addt alrrt from bank stating transaction of $23.57 applied to my card at Grocery Store. THE Shopper made 2 separate transactions on my card. Mine and then there's. Wtf. 15 minutes later I get email thanking me for completely my instscart shopping. Where is my stuff. It not at my door. The shopper has marked order as complete. And disconnected the conversation between us. I called instacart customer service whom said they would replace my order at their expense as they can't reach the driver. Wtf. I never received my 15 items nor any re delivery as them promised to duexat there expense. This morning, Saturday 1/2/21 I see a post about a person in neighbor stating the believe someone stuff was miss delivered to and put in their back yard. I messaged neighbor asking if these bags by chance where full of the named items. The guys was like yes it all matches with the exception of tampons, condoms, baby oil none of which I ordered. He also told me the chicken and Italian sausage obviously was visited by a homeless animal as the package was all torn up and half the chicken is missing. Instacart said they will not refund my card. Well they can go $#*! themselves. I had bank stop payment filed a fraud complaint for items not asked to be purchased. Filed a criminal complaint with local police as well.
Needed drinks fast for a client. I called the store and they confirmed they had what I needed in stock, and I could order from instacart. So I ordered 6 packs of drinks, for delivery "within 2 hours" since I needed them ASAP. 4.5 hours later I received 1 pack which was banged up, filthy, and covered in mold. WTF. I also got charged $0.05 for a plastic bag which is expected in this area, but the bag these drinks came in was obviously used and dirty not new. I contacted their customer care team and they delivered me the other 5 packs the next day at no charge, but these were all too late to service the client. Next time I will just send my own employee. No idea how instacart is in business.
The problem with INSTACART is when your order has a problem nobody really owns reconciliation of the issue. My problem was I wanted two cases of water. I received 2 liters of alkaline water. I was asked about replacement items on two other items and approved but did not approve 48 bottles of water for 2 liters of alkaline water. I have left comments and called but not a peep form anyone. Very engaged when collecting broker fee between you and retailer but after that it gets berry berry quiet!
Do not use this company. Ordered one bag (fruits, cheeses, crackers) for elderly uncle 12/18/20. Got email saying it was delivered 12/19. Called uncle Dec. 25. He never received it. He is 87 and has not left his house in Wisconsin since April due to Covid. I emailed Instacart Support. Said redelivery 12/26. Today is 12/26. I got a cancellation notice and was charged $15 by Instacart. Called them. They said it is because they can not deliver it so I was charged $15 cancellation fee. I feel like I am being punked. Worst company I have ever dealt with.
Driver Katrina, Delivery to East Haven, CT stole my delivery and refused to answer messages or calls from the company. Company just says here's a refund, and refused to get new items after I asked. If you get this person, ask for another. This company doesn't care.
I am a 62 year old and disabled. Instacart completely ruined my Christmas. I put in an order from Smart and Final. The only thing I got was a turkey. Not 1 side dish. I paid $21 for the 12 lb turkey. The delivery guy never knocked, just left the turkey on a chair at my back door.
Delivered milk that was about to expire. Said they would deliver new milk. The new milk was to expire in 30 hours. They said they would refund me, they did not. If I want milk that won't expire, I have to place a new order. Okay, expect that new order has a $35 minimum and I just spend almost $300 with them and all I need is milk. My husband is sick and I cannot leave the house. Never use again.
This happens all the time... there are many other alternatives... if you don't want to shop why be a shopper... Price is marked up, Instacart express fees, tax, random other "shopping fee", TIP end up paying twice as much ALL OF THAT and NOT even having the option of receiving a sub par version of my original order
Ordered items for my Christmas dinner since I am a senior and will be spending it alone this year. Figured I would have to a nice meal. Didn't expect the items to have expired before the 25th when they were ordered on the 21st! Will never use Instacart again... first and last time user. Thank you for no Christmas dinner... CHECK EXPERATION DATES!
I have ordered a Orbi Wifi Mesh system with Costco powered by Instacart for close to $500 because I need it deliver on the same day and could not find it at nearby local Costco store. One of the Orbi satellite die today, when I try to reach out to get a replacement or refund, I was told there no return policy. I thought this was Costco order which has the normal 30 days return policy, but that was not the case. Never buy anything that is powered by Instacart, because they have no return policy! They don't have an order number either, so I can't go directly to Costco to request for a refund.
Answer: Instacart does not give you the sale prices from the store. So if the peanut butter is 3.50 on sale. Instacart will charge you 4.80 regular price. Their prices are all over the board but on average you are paying 20% more.
Answer: You can't! The only way I got a response from them was when they emailed me to rate my driver and I gave a bad review for her and Instacart. I got an email back. Otherwise, there is no Customer Service! I tried everything under the "Help" section and got nowhere!
Answer: Seriously? They have already scientifically proven that is not spread that way. How many strangers & kids and semi drivers and warehouse people touch your stuff before it even leaves the store.
Answer: No, they don't by policy. But I've found they don't deliver anything else either. Last two orders were cancelled. I dumped my account and told them to keep the gift card balance. Done with InstaCart.
