Indeed has a rating of 1.5 stars from 978 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Indeed most frequently mention customer service, small business and employer account. Indeed ranks 132nd among Recruiting sites.
I had an Indeed account using for a long time and hiring people but all of sudden when I turned in my Jobs, Unsponsored, they disabled my account in one hour, and the quality assurance team has no phone number or direct email to deal with or explain to the customers for reason. I contacted customer care and They also said, sorry sir we can't connect the quality team but you can appeal, appeal rejection is the Indeed quality team's main priority. Indeed quality seems like works inside the bunker where they don't have any communication method but just assigned to disable the accounts and don't reply if someone needs any help. I have posted an Independent contractor position where we carefully followed all the guidelines but finally, I have a bad experience. Hired professionals are still working with us on the same job profiles for the last six months but Indeed decided my job suspicious. No review method, no understanding, dictatorship business policies, and completely arrogant and rude method to deal with. Someday Indeed management may regret when other company will override because of such onesided bad policies.
I decided to try indeed after browsing them for years as a job seeker. I love their site on that end. However, now being the owner of a new company, i was very disappointed with the employer end of things. I was posting a job for a CDL A driver and was receiving only a handful of resumes, none of them qualified based on the criteria I indicated that I needed in the posting. I'm alright with casting a wide net though, so even though I had many unqualified resumes to search though, it was a cumbersome task that I was willing to bear. The problem with the whole process is, your not really sure for what your're signing up. They charged me almost 10 times the previous month's charge of 42.00, and told me when I called that I had signed up for an $18 a day plan, even though I couldn't find that anywhere, and I didn't have any new qualified applicants. They did agree to a partial credit in the end, that still left me with a substantial balance. If you're looking for a service that will help you find a qualified candidate without taking you to the cleaners, I suggest you look elsewhere.
Hi Ryan, we have responded to your review by private message. Please follow up there if you have any additional questions or concerns.
For the amount of views and non qualified applicants the fees were ridiculous. We did not get one good candidate for our job listing. We will never use you for our future listings.
Hello Sandra, we're very sorry for the poor experience you had with posting your job on Indeed. We've messaged you directly to discuss your experience further. Thank you.
Writing a follow up...
I have been given a workaround solution to try and my issue was handled promptly by Indeed. So I am going to give it a try and see how it goes.
Hello,
I have been using Indeed for a while now (>1 year). The resumes I get are 95% from third party candidates with a questionable work experience. I clearly mention in my every job posting that it's for direct candidates only but still couldn't control the spam or irrelevant applications I am getting (plus being charged if you sponsor) and Indeed is doing nothing about this after repeated complaints. They want to send me those applications/candidates to take a look. But unfortunately there are ten's if not hundred's of those for each one of my job posting and am not interested to dispute each one of them and get in to email conversation which can be monotonous.
It's becoming a big headache and concerns me about the morality of the applicants.
I more than wish that something can be done here to make recruiters work more productive or at least make their life easy.
Thank you!
Hi Bala, we apologize for the poor experience and we have responded to your review via private message.
CV wont upload fully, cutted parts out and would never let me edit it to change it. Stayed like this after multiple times of deleting and re uploading
We are a recruitment company that has been around since 2011, we have used many job portals throughout our time and have recently started with Indeed.
Because of Covid we have had little to no vacancies and suddenly now we have a lot of vacancies that needed to be filled with immediately, sadly, all these positions get flagged as spam and because of that we need to sponsor them for them not to be flagged as spam anymore? How does that make sense, if it is spam (which it is 100% not, we are looking for real employees for these vacancies) why would you allow it to be shown if we pay?
They have been updating their job posting form and what a horrible mess it has been trying to post these vacancies as well as I was left unable to post it via the computer! I send an email to them about this as well but have not even heard a peep back from anything or anyone.
As a Recruitment Agency that are getting in vacancies needing to be filled in urgently, especially in this time where people need jobs and we are desperately trying to get back onto our feet. I am completely frustrated by this site.

If ITS NOT REAL AND NOT HIRING NOW THEN DONT $#*!ING POST IT! JESUS-CHRIST!

I do not understand why account was disabled without warning, I always pay and I have been hiring candidates since August! This is ridiculous I was waiting for responses
Hi Charlotte, thanks for reaching out. To provide some clarity, all accounts and jobs are subject to our standard rolling reviewing process that can occur at any time. Our team has concluded that Indeed will be unable to show your openings in our search results and the account will remain in its current disabled status. In addition, Indeed does not allow non-job postings. This includes, but is not limited to, multi-level marketing opportunities, volunteer jobs, training and education opportunities, franchising opportunities, jobseeker employment solicitation, expired jobs, and jobs which do not represent a specific employer vacancy. Indeed always retains the right to remove any job, organic or sponsored, if we feel it is in our interest or our users’ interest. This is a final decision that will not be reversed. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. If you have urgent hiring needs, we suggest utilizing other hiring services.
We posted an ad for a confidential job (as we are looking to replace an employee that was severely underperforming). After paying for 3-4 days of Sponsored Ad with a standard job posting (descriptions & responsibility), Indeed terminated our account for no reason. This action apparently cannot be appealed. They will be dealing with our credit card chargeback for fraudulent services. See below for their generic email response:

Thank you for contacting Indeed. We have reviewed your account and have found it to be unsuitable for Indeed.
For your reference, we have linked Indeed's Terms of Service and Job Posting Guidelines.
Please note that your account currently is not accruing costs and this is a final decision. No further action is required on your part. No additional details regarding this decision will be provided. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Even this morning tried to reach out on Indeed nos. No response. Even to my mails sent from Friday no revert.
Trust on whole organization is gone. Cannot get worse than this
Hello Madhavi, we have responded to your review directly via private message. Thank you
Indeed team,
Feeling disgusted to write such kind of mail within 15 min of registration.
As usual typical plan of misleading people that interviews are guaranteed and umpteen no of calls till registration.
After registering and payment is cleared call from one lady by name Natasha providing ref nos, interview timings and lastly revealing that additional payment of 9k to be made for document verification. Why was this not informed before registration?
I had several times asked Swetha to re confirm about payment and interview who never mentioned about any additional cost
When I denied to Natasha that no additional amount would be paid and is sheer nonsense of misleading people she abruptly disconnects. Why was this attitude not shown before registration?
I had tried out couple of times to reach out on indeed nos from where I recd calls but as expected no response and later get a message that no is switched off
I do not want any more interview schedules and PL refund the charges.
Awaiting response on refund
This website is a great website to use for when you're in need of a job. They have businesses that are hiring on the website and give you a quick way to apply to them.
I received this email in my inbox (not my spam folder) from someone named Jason Whitman at employers-no *******@indeed.com:
"Subject line: please review your Indeed account contact information.
Dear Client:
Our team is here to help you hire and we want to be able to reach you by phone when necessary. A recent ruling by the FCC requires us to re-verify your phone information and re-confirm your consent to be called if the number you previously provided is a cell phone number. We will not be able to reach you at that number until you complete the following steps:
Please log in to your employer account.
Review the contact information you previously provided.
Review the statement of consent and if youre okay with being contacted by Indeed at the phone number listed on your account, select Yes when prompted to do so.
Please contact us with any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Jason WhitmanSVP of Client Services"
I have no idea who this is or why they contacted me, so I can only assume it's Spam and should've shown up in the spam folder.
Clicked on the unsubscribe button. Opted out of the email. Also left a note in the notes field never to contact me again, and that if they did, Federal authorities will be contacted.
Also reported the email as spam through my provider.
I do not now, nor have I ever had, any account with Indeed. I have never contacted this organization and have no idea how they got my email address. This email from them is unsolicited and I regard it as a scam.
I am very dissapointed in Indeed right now. I've been a customer for years and referred others to them. I was literally in the middle of sourcing and interviewing candidates and just got a generic email saying my account was disabled.
Not only that, I responded to the appeal and I received another generic automated email saying that it was denied and ther is nothing else I can do?!
Then, I email my Acct Rep and I get a bounce back email delivery!
I was hoping that this was a terrible mistake but after reading all of the reviews there seems to be something new happening that is significantly messing up their loyalty and branding.
To think... I just recommended 11 other HR pros to them last week.
I am hoping that I at least get access to those we were in contact with so they don't think we are flaky. Completely disappointed that they would cancel someone's account without proper appeal and speaking with the customer.
When I go a few months without using the service, I get multiple calls then. But no call now? No personalization? No customer service?

I've tried several job boards and this was the most expensive, and we spent the most money on it that got 3 unqualified applicants across 10 job postings.
Hi Jedakiah, we apologize for the poor experience while using Indeed. We have responded to your review by private message, please follow up there with any additional questions you may have.
I posted my resume online with indeed, the day I did, I started receiving phone calls from spammers from all around the US. I truly believe they are either selling your information to a third party.Or, spammers have access to your resume. Never once received a phone call from an employer. All the calls were a computer automated system. Who in the world falls for these spammers? If no one fell for them, they wouldn't be harassing people. I tried to delete my account and indeed has rigged there site to where it is impossible to actually delete your account, without contacting customer service via email. I honestly don't see how these companies keep doing this and not get sued. I have tried to use this site at different intervals and everytime I do, I get harassed by spammers. They always call when i'm in the middle of something. Personally, I believe we all need to get together and sue indeed for invasion of privacy. They say the employer cannot see your address or phone number when you post your resume on there site. I've contacted employers directly that were on indeed.com. They all said they did not have an ad on indeed. Com and they don't know why they have it posted on the site!
Hello John, sorry for your negative experience with Indeed. As you have already mentioned, Indeed does not share the contact information listed on your Indeed resume unless it is incorrectly placed under one of the public resume sections by the job seeker (example: if a phone number or email address is listed under the experience field). Indeed does not sell your contact information to any third party. You also have the ability to delete your resume on Indeed at any time.
Horrible. Beware once you have added your credit card to their files they will keep charging you after you have cancelled they continuously charge you. Not a good site at all.
Hi Sonia, we're sorry for the poor experience. We have responded to your review via private message to further assist. Please follow up with us there.
I didn't receive any qualified candidates that I would consider interviewing even after sponsoring the job, Senior Auditor. Very disappointed in the job applicants.
It was very easy to set up account and choose the amount you want to spend daily; and super easy to post jobs and close jobs. We will be posting any future jobs openings that we have on Indeed.com.
Thanks for your review and support Deborah!
This website is FRAUD and they SCAM you. You call to set up an ad for your office and they let you know all about there 'deals and credits' but they do not tell you to NOT be charged YOU have to close the account yourself. We were told we were getting a free week trial since we were a new user so that would be a $50 credit. We were not told that after this week the ad would keep running and we would be charged $10/day. This is highly disappointing. We called the discuss this with the company and of course they were beyond unhelpful and would not credit our company back anything. We will be sure to send out letter to all of our Virginia and DC referrals to NEVER use this site and to always just use the FREE and SAFE and non SCAM Craigslist.
The site works great, however I received to many applications that simply did not meet the minimum qualifications that I had established. It became difficult to quickly screen the resumes.
Answer: Hello Anita, positions posted for free stay on Indeed for a total of 120 days. Sponsored positions can stay on the site until an employer has filled the job and closed it on Indeed.
Answer: Hi Sarah, we're sorry you haven't heard back from employers when submitting your resume on Indeed. We'd be happy to assist you here in reviewing your resume and offering suggestions for applying to jobs on the site. Please email us at sitejabber@indeed.com with a link to your Indeed Resume or document so that we can review. Thank you.
Answer: Hello Gerard, sorry for the negative experience. Indeed recently augmented existing search quality programs with new, ongoing strategies to make sure all jobs on Indeed meet standards for quality. This effort included a large scale review of job listings. Jobs that violated our guidelines and companies that did not meet our quality standards were disabled. We apologize that this was a frustrating process for you and will provide this feedback to our Search Quality team for future improvements.
Answer: By NO MEANS should you pursue this so-called job offer further and in fact, you should report them to the Better Business Bureau.
Answer: Hi Kristina, feel free to email our team at sitejabber@indeed.com with some additional details regarding your concerns and we'd be happy to take a look. Please be sure to reference this interaction in your email. Thank you.
Answer: Hi Irene, to explain, all accounts on Indeed go through a moderation process as we must verify the connection between the account creator and the company they are hiring for. We must also ensure that our quality guidelines are met. If enough information is not provided when the account is being created or we find a violation of our guidelines, then the account will go into the appeal status. Based on your message, this is likely what you are currently experiencing. If you need assistance, feel free to email our team at sitejabber@indeed.com and we'd be happy to take a look.
