I ordered "iPhone 4s replacement battery -fix kit." The package arrived without any tools! There was only a battery in the package! I ordered online and the ad appeared on google! The ad contains a package showing all the tools needed! Also the title of the product says "fix kit". I called ifixit, they said my order was wrong. I searched the same product and I saw the same ad. I was told to make another order and return the battery. When I asked about the shipping costs, they told me I should pay again.
- They charged $16.95 for the battery, I am not going to order another KIT.
- They use false advertising/misleading and I am submitting my complaint to federal trade commission!
I was excited to use the iFixit microwaveable iOpener. It looked so cool and easy to use. Unfortunately after trying for a solid hour to use the iOpener as the heating tool I ended up with a brick instead of a phone with a new battery. The iOpener does not work! Use it and you'll destroy your phone. Just stick to a hairdryer or heat gun.
I have repaired dozens of my friends and families Laptops, Desktops, iPhones, iPads, Airport Extremes; replacing broken screens, batteries, cooling fans, memory chips, hard drives and so forth. I have used this source for years and found their guides accurate and dependable, and replacement parts are high quality and fairly priced
The repair guides on iFixit are really easy to follow. I have repaired two MacBook Pros and an iPhone and also a washing machine. The prices for spare parts are reasonable although the Australian iFixit site is very limited on spare parts availability so I end up buying parts from the USA website. Still, I save a fortune on labour costs.
I ordered the essentials tool kit to replace the SSD drive in my MacBook Air. The kit had more than I needed to do the job and those extras will come in handy as I do other repairs on stuff and things. The instructions on the site were complete and accurate and it took about 10 minutes to do the replacement and about an hour to reboot and reload most of my OS and data. This kit and site are a good starting point for any repair.
I have purchased parts, tools and used the guides to repair two iPhones and a Wii. In all cases the parts were high quality and the guides assisted every step of the way. I highly recommend this site for your repairs.
Service was great, only gripe i had was shipping because the saver price they gave me was the same as their standard but twice the time.
I just bought the big tool kit with the extra addon manta tool kit. I love the quality of the tools and was very happy with what I got. However, my biggest and only complaint is that I had to pay nearly $62 for shipping on my order. That nearly made me not purchase it but in a moment of weakness, I went ahead with it. BUT not before doing other searches for the kit including an Amazon search. This is a great tool kit but the amount I had to pay for shipping was beyond rediculous for a package that small. I can send an entire desktop computer from NC to FL for $30. But for some rediculous reasons, I had to pay $62 for them to ship this tool kit from California to North Carolina. That is a rediculous amount to pay for shipping on such a small package!
I got through the entire installation of my replacement battery for my 2018 MacBook Pro and when I inserted the battery data cable into the battery terminal on the circuitboard that is attached to the battery, the terminal came off. I did not do this forcefully it was very gentle. It's extremely frustrating having gone through this whole process that took four hours to have this happen on the last step.
When I contacted ifixit.com, Kyron, a support technician, told me that they do not warrant the quality of their parts and that when it arrives at your door, it's out of their hands. They tried to say it was "physical damage" to excuse their faulty product quality. That's like going to a dentist for a crown and they don't warrent you biting into an apple because you could incur physical damage. They said they would offer a one time exception and give me a coupon for 50% off a replacement.
Ridiculous.
I have generation 1 20GB (upgraded to 500 GB) PS3. About four years ago I got the yellow light of death and sent my PS3 into Sony to get fixed. $150 dollars later and a wiped hard drive, my PS3 was working again. I was happy to have it working again because it's backwards compatible with PS2 and PS1 games, but very sad that I lost all my game data. Well about 2 weeks ago, I got the yellow light of death again. I'm not going to lie, I was very sad. I stumbled upon a fix on Youtube from ifixit.com. I was skeptical, but decided to give it a try. With shipping, it was only $35 dollars and if I could keep my game data it would totally be worth it! The ifixit guide was very detailed and easy to follow and I am thrilled to report my PS3 is now working again! I am very pleased and will recommend this to my friends who have similar problems with their PS3's. Thank you ifixit!
The worst customer service no live operators only email with no respond at all, I am missing order and cant even cancel it or get refund
Ordered a Pro Tools Set from their site. Not only did shipping go without a hitch, communication was there every step of the way. Highly recommend for all tech needs.
Surprised to get our items in such a timely manner! We are not used to such fast service. I wish some other vendors would take note of how you do things!
Bought a tri-wing Y00 bit from them to do some home repair work on a Nintendo product I own. I was happy to support iFixit since I've found a lot of useful (and free) DIY information on their website, and the tri-wings are exceedingly uncommon bits, especially at this size; none of my local stores either carried or had them in stock. It was probably a little expensive for a single bit (mostly thanks to shipping), but it was a very high quality bit and it was worth the price, due to the low quality of the screws Nintendo uses in the product I was seeking to repair and how prone they are to stripping. I wouldn't have wanted to take the chance using anything lower quality, and thanks to the quality of the product iFixit sold me, the work went flawlessly.
The iOpener was super easy to use for softening the adhesive on my smart device, and it made the entire process of replacing the glass on the phone's back almost trivial. Though the videos say to run it for 30 seconds, and then again if you think it is needed, if your microwave is under 1000 watts, you should be good just running it the full minute in the first place. My microwave just couldn't heat the iOpener up enough in 30 seconds.
All the tools included were super useful as well!. One item that I ordered seperately was the halberd spudger, and I honestly think I probably wouldn't have been able to repair the phone so easily without having used the halberd spudger to bypass the adhesive.
Overall a fantastic purchase!
I love the toolset as a beginner in pc building this is a great set of tools to safely replace or fix components i am glad i l found out about ifixit's tools
Got my part to me in good working condition in just couple of days was quick and easy. Will be coming back to iFixit next time I need hard to find computer parts
Without ifixit my Kindle would have been dropped off at Staples and I'd have been out another $100 to replace it, if I could afford the cost of a new one. Thanks, ifixit!
The repair went off without a hitch, the computer works better now than it ever has. The online guides provided by ifixit were detailed and well written.
Received the order in time, step by step and repair went just awesome, but it didn't fix the problem for long, it lasted less than a day and now I am confused, don't know what to do
Answer: Their instructions cover each step in clear detail. All include photos and nearly all have video as well. Highly recommended!
