Early in my Military years, providing proof of service was always a pain. I was often stuck in a series or string of emails, or phone calls to prove my service status. But now, ID.me has done that work for me. I can no just use my ID.me account on every website to prove that I am the service member that I claim to be.
What have they done to provide trust enough to gather very personal information of anyone?
Navigating the site was easy and informative. I was impressed with how quick I finished.
IDme is a poor service. I spent 8 hours trying to get access to IRS information. There was an email linked to my account that I had never used. After numerous attempts at logging in and getting routed back to the create an account page I tried to contact the help line. Virtual assistant Ron gave the same information that was already on the websites problem solving page so he was no help because all the solutions they have on their page had already been tried. There were no contact phone numbers to be found. The site was a waste of time with poor service. I hope this is not a general reflection of our government.

Yes their is alot of patience for this process which has two step options: i choose the fastest which me being lazy & trying to save some time went for the picture verification:Note i had my hair color changed so it denied me! To me thats fantastic because it goes to show they dont just approve you. It forced me to then wait 30min for the video call which the gentleman was very polite & professional in every way: it was quick. Easy but yes Time Consuming! My idenity is Safe in my Perspective & they now have proof of whom the profile Really belongs. XD
ID.me was very easy to navigate. Be sure to have web cam or cell phone that can take pictures. Also, I used my cell phone to take a picture of my IL drivers license, to prove my identity, and it was very easy to do with the prompts on ID.me. Customer Service will have a wait time for questions, but I find searching questions on irs.gov is really helpful. You can basically find most questions to be answered in publications or forms.
If your phone setting is blocked to outside users for your camera, you need to figure out how to unblock it, before you even start down this path. Google chrome browser also needs to have the camera unblocked. Both of these were settings that I had to figure out how to do. Of course, not all phones have the same app information, so you have to figure out the correct heading for how to access and unblock it. It was a long and frustrating process, based on my learning curve of technology. And because it took me so many tries to figure it out, I have no idea what I did to finally accomplish it.
It was super satisfying though to get that final email that told me I had ID.me set-up. Security is a big deal in today's world.
I don't like the website because I have a lot of problems to apply for my unemployment like I'm doing now now I cannot apply at all and I've been doing this since last year

So had my identity stolen (not from this) but had to get new number and email, can't use old info but because it will text to my old number for verification or old email I could not get logged in, created a new account with new info but says already have an account but no way to access it
