Well, my experience was great, but shading on my part. The security methods was awesome. A great way for us to know that our info is safe and secured.
This "service" that none of us asked for or wants is extremely invasive, and far more tedious and time-consuming than you'll expect. Who the heck is this company, and why should you trust them with a *lot* of your sensitive private data? Including your credit report and everything it exposes, which is part of what they intend to root around in, though they're not very upfront about it.
There's no reason to trust this little-known company.
EVEN if there intentions are as they claim, and they don't plan to commercially exploit you beyond this (NOT a given), you have no reason to believe they're actually capable of keeping your data secure.
Of course they'll claim they will. Every corporation claims that, right up until they're hacked and have to send you a letter that "your sensitive personal data may have been exposed."
As a little-known company, ID.me is much less likely to have the capital resources to actually invest in the level of cybersecurity and other safeguards to truly protect your data.
So whoever forced you to use this shady "ID.me" service is forcing you to put yourself at risk of identify theft and credit theft, simply for their own convenience. (Because the lowest-cost provider is always the most "convenient," right?) What we should be asking is why didn't they use a more reliable, proven option.
Bottom line: Do not trust this small-time company that sees your personal data and credit history as a way for to make money for themselves, at your expense.

They don't communicate, it isn't streamlined, the coordination between ID.me, the IRS, and EFTPS is beyond ridiculous. I lost access to EFTPS for 11 days and got ZERO help from anyone. I submitted tickets.
I started my verifying process with login.gov at first. I tried so many times to get verified using my driver's license but i could not get past the part where they wanted to send me a code to my old phone number that was no longer in service. So, i went to ID.me. I did not understand the difference between login.gov or id.me until i called for help and got the understanding from a id.me representative. I was still at a block because id.me wanted to send me a code to my phone that was no longer in service. After getting the right information was able to ask for what i needed which was a video verification. Id.me is the only company that offers this service, and within 2 weeks i was able to get verified over the cam using my driver's license and a social security card, and my beautiful face, thank you for doing that. Since then, i have been able to get discounts, compensation claims, pay my taxes, look at my retirement, and everything the government has about me. Really good secure tool, I'm glad all these checks are in place, and happy that all these government institutions are at my fingertips.
Created ID.me account to verifiy government status for access to Oakley SI deals. Instead, I get access error: "You have not shared your ID.me verification with Oakley SI, please click "CREATE AN ACCOUNT" below to continue". There are no instructions on either company websites of how, or even if, I can correct this.
I was checking my information through the IRS.gov website and had to login with my credentials through ID.me and everything went smoothly after having them scan my face via webcam and answering personal information. Soon after that, my account gets suspended and I try to get assistance through their customer support. Turns out my old phone number on file that I previously changed is still being used an option for verifying my identity for some reason. Some stranger is literally answering security requests for me lol. And the funny thing is, it's the only option. I don't commit old numbers that I only used for a short period of time to memory after I acquire a new number, but it seems some jerk analyst that I was speaking to via email likes playing games to extent that no matter how many times I mention that I don't know my old phone number he still thinks he is going to get an answer eventually by asking me repeatedly. How the hell is the government affiliated with such a dumb company? H&R block has a feature where it asks questions about where I previously lived or what car make and model I have. Yet, this useless company only resorts to old numbers for verification.

I was able to finally get a picture of my ID and do a selfie but, it took way longer than it should have because you need a dark background to place your ID on to photograph it then you have to hold the camera very still to do the selfie and I just feel this is way to complicated for an older person to accomplish just to gain access to their COLA. Many older people do not have smartphones and do not have the capability of doing all of it. I think the process needs to be a little easier for older adults.
As we are not residents of the United States, we are limited to providing other government-issued identification documents besides passports for the application. However, when we provided these documents for authentication, perhaps due to the documents being in Chinese, the system encountered some issues with recognition. After several attempts, we finally had the opportunity to undergo the video verification process. It was only through the patient guidance of the verification personnel that we were able to learn the specific adjustments needed for our documents.
We are very grateful for the patient assistance of the verification personnel, allowing us the opportunity to correct errors in our documents. However, I believe there is still room for improvement in the system's instructions. I suggest providing clearer instructions and examples on the webpage to assist users in accurately providing the required identification documents. Additionally, offering a video assistance link for cases where verification data fails three times or more would help users avoid unnecessary trial and error processes.
Thought it would take longer but they actually got back to me same day, it was easy and quick to verify over video while recieving great customer service.
