Sometimes satisfying and sometimes very stressful. It's very convenient to file online for monthly and year end information to the Federal Gov't. It can be stressful to correct a mistake. Also it would of been nice to know that the 1096 was included in the 1099 transmission. I spent a lot of time trying to find out how to file my 1096 and did not find out until I printed out the page my verification page..
Idme is a win for veterans. You can guarantee that if IDme says they are a verified veteran, that that is exactly what they are! Every company should be using IDme so they know the discount they are giving is truly going to a veteran. Too many scams and scammers out there. You need IDme to protect yourself and to assure those you are helping are exactly what they say they are.

Apparently, when I did not turn off my VPN, I could not pass the final verification - the ten second verification took an indeterminable amount of time; never stopped and gave me a chance to correct the problem; and then locked me out of the otherwise verified account. I was stuck using a secondary, seldom used, seldom checked account. Very frustrating. If there is another option, try to avoid using ID.me (good luck with that, though!)
ID.me instructions were straight-forward, the program accepted my documents on the first try, and there were no "do" loops. I had access to my new account within minutes and all the benefits that come with it. However, initially I tried to set up an account through Login.gov. Very frustrating. My husband and I spent hours over two days and I made the trip to the USPS for assistance. The system would not work properly. It would never accept my documents. And the helpline ended with there is no one at this number... ID.me, thank you for a user-friendly set-up!
Secure in the way that everything is done online and can provide quick verification. If documents does not go through they provide video call with agent which does not take too long of wait but your work will be done peacefully.

Long process, not extremely easy to understand and very time consuming.
When setting up my ID.me account, I tried to use the automated identification verification path. When I entered my phone number, the 9s were replaced by 0s. I initially thought I mis-typed and tried again, same result. On my third try, I took screenshots to prove to myself that I was not mis-typing. Verified.
This is a special level of bad UI design. I can only describe the experience of ID.me not being able to remember the numbers from one screen to the next as Kafkaesque.
Thankfully, the same screen worked when I used the option with a video call.
Well, I needed to schedule an appointment with SSA. None of their other sign in options worked for me, so I tried ID.me. At first it looked easy. Just enter your info, send in your ID, take a video selfie, and boom, you're in. This is NOT what happened. When I first entered my information, it said it would take up to 15 seconds to verify; it took 10 minutes. Then, same thing with my ID. It was supposed to take 10 or 15 seconds to verify; it took 10 minutes. Mind you, I have great internet, around 1GB/S, and a brand new Google Pixel 9, so this is not an internet or device issue. Then I got to the part where I had to do a video selfie. I took one 5 or 6 times while it kept saying "We could not take a video selfie. Try again." Eventually it brought me to a screen that told told me to try a video call. I went to the screen where you wait for a video call. It said the wait time was less than a minute. I was on that screen for an HOUR. Without any video call. Eventually I had some things I had to do at work and could not sit on the screen any longer. Overall horrible experience and now I'm stuck trying to figure out if I can even log in to the SSA website or if I just have to go in person and suffer the hours-long wait times.
Still going on with process hoping to find employment soon. Plenty of applications in but no job yet.
