ID.me simplifies how individuals prove and share their identity online. The ID.me secure digital identity network has over 98 million members, as well as partnerships with 30 states, 10 federal agencies, and over 500 name-brand retailers.
The company provides identity proofing, authentication and community verification for organizations across sectors. The company's technology meets the federal standards for consumer authentication and is approved as a NIST 800-63-3 IAL2 / AAL2 conformant credential service provider by the Kantara Initiative. ID.me's Identity Gateway also has a Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Moderate Authority to Operate (ATO). ID.me is the only provider with video chat and is committed to "No Identity Left Behind" to enable all people to have a secure digital identity.
The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in its identity verification service, which many users found secure and efficient, particularly praising the helpfulness of customer service during video calls. However, significant concerns were raised regarding the complexity of the verification process, which some customers found frustrating and time-consuming, particularly older users or those with unique identification issues. Additionally, delays and technical difficulties, including issues with document acceptance and login credentials, have led to dissatisfaction among several users. Overall, while the service is valued for its security, improvements in user experience and support are essential.

Tried LogIn.gov with unsatisfied results even so every detail was correct and verified by my SS ofc. Just was not able to go digital IDme let me set up my account with ease and now I am able to go digital with no problem
It's a requirement now to be able to log in to you Soc Sec. Since the govt is well known to use lowest bidders, just how safe do you think your info is> Why couldn't the govt just have kept using the former log on requirements IMO this is just another waste of our taxes for soemthing that is not necessarily trustworthy.
The experience was easy to navigate the process, and the process was quickly completed, so that access could be gained to the government sites
Who would trust a company that gets all your data and then the technology doesn't even work correctly, I had to start over several times
Wouldn't recognize my phone to take the selfie. I just wanted a copy of my retirement, discharge from the US Navy, DD214. When I went to Va.gov it stated I needed to log into id.me. There again it would let me take a selfie. I got an email stated my identity was approved. I used the link that that was in the email and was able to log in. I logged out and tried to log back in and it took me threw the steps of setting up an account but would not let me take a selfie. When I was able to log in via email it didn't take me to the area that I could get a copy of my DD214. I am and was frustrated.
Confusing from the very start. I probably didn't really need to do it at all. I just wanted to check how much I owed (less than $100 from a 2021 tax year), but I ended up just overpaying the amount IRS said I owed just to be safe. I spent about three hours getting my ID and PW. First I had to get images of various IDs. Then I had to upload those images. ThenI was expecting a video call on my phone, but it only works on computer and requires a computer with Zoom capability, i., e., camera and microphone. They actually use the term "video call." First agent I reached dismissed my call, that I had been waiting an hour to receive. My advice to you is to wait a year to get your ID.me until that can make their system more usable.
ID.me is easy to use just triple check the information you type in at registration is correct because there's no way to fix it other than in person.
This is my second or third time using this after creating it a few years ago. Only go to SS website once in a blue moon. It is a lot less cumbersome than login.gov. I do have a login.gov account, but trying to use it proved a disaster. Glad I had an account here. It took me two tries. For some reason first try, it couldn't verify my identity. Thankfully, 2nd try worked.
I wasn't notified of my account suspended until I tried to log in. I didn't regain access for more than 10 days! I set up duplicate account and it flagged! I saw an email I did not recognize on my account thinking I was hacked!
Excellent experience. Easy to use. Everything thing was easy to understand. Video call went as planned. Heads up on cal with timer so you knew when you needed to answer the call. Would definitely recommend for security reasons to access your account.
I have been using ID.me for more than a year.
Why the "new account" / ¿additional requirements?
Why one picture ID is not enough?
Why NOT use the same device camera for the "video call",
That was used for the second ID?
What takes 40 minutes to analyze?
For better results:
List ALL the requirements and events at the START of the login.
Be aware, "we" all do NOT have cameras (and microphones) on all our devices.
Some of "us" have a "no ring" setting for all numbers NOT in our "Contacts" list.
Dr. Thompson is excellent! Professional, knowledgeable, and caring. I have a lot of respect for him and appreciate his calm demeano
The ID.me process was very efficient for my needs. The instructions for uploading documents were clear, and the system verified my identity quickly so I could access my benefits without a long delay. It felt secure and was much easier than expected.
I couldn't sign in for ID.me myself. Had to consult and use an IT pro to get it done- the passport and facial ID part. Many error messages.
A very great opportunity. A great experience. It's easier to do taxes. I can log in easy and I can retrieve anything I need done for whatever the business is.
I need help from a person to get my account set up rather than the automated system. Speaking with an agent was very helpful.
It's a wonderful, easy experience that everyone should take part in protecting. Your personal information is Paramount in today's society
ID.me was very thorough in their vetting of the documents I submitted, ensuring that I uploaded the correct information and guiding me the entire process.
It's only happened a few times in my life, that I've come across a web-based, technology or service, that impacted me profoundly. One that actually expands your view of technologies possibilities, that makes the alternatives now seem unacceptable, and leaves you a little angry that it hadn't been invented until now.
This one of those.
You'd be stupid not to use it. Hassle and headache vs simple and convenient. The choice is yours.
After almost an hour trying to set up login.gov and failing because it could not verify the phone number that I have had for more than 20 years I tried ID.me. It took about 5 minutes to complete the verification process.
